I also wanted to share this. This morning I just saw a big Metroid Dread AD on my way to work at Shepherds Bush Station in London. The picture I took dosen't do it justice but man it's so rare to see Nintendo ads here in London lol.

Haven't seen anything here myself, but did receive a picture of a commercial in a theater, they're really giving it their all.

Nah they're still gonna go all in on Prime 1 remake and Prime 4.


THEN if none of them sell they're going to F-Zero the series, yeah.

I don't think Nintendo will ever really "F Zero" Metroid, tbh. I think it may become a lower priority for them, and it may get long hiatuses again in the future, sure, but I think Nintendo is generally aware of the prestige of Metroid, and its ability to command a demographic's interest that traditionally few Nintendo first party games reach.

Dread and Prime 4's success aren't going to decide whether the series has a future, because it does, and it always will, it's never going to be discontinued. Dread and Prime 4's success (or lack of, if it comes to that) will only decide to what degree Metroid will be prolific in the future.

It’s also the fact that Metroid has no dedicated Studio at Nintendo proper. I don’t think they *intended* to keep it on ice for so long, they just didn’t find someone to make it.

Yeah, I think Iwata's restructuring that gutted SPD had that as an unfortunate side effect. But even after that, it was clear Metroid was a priority for Nintendo - a Metroid game was used to debut the DS. A Metroid game was used to debut the Wii. Other M was clearly a high budget investment from them (a terrible high budget investment, but the point is they clearly saw the series as a tentpole).

Ultimately, I don't know what the future for Metroid is because I am still not sure there will ever be a dedicated Metroid team (other than Retro I guess), but I absolutely do not think the series will ever be F-Zero'd. The difference between the statures, relative success, and prestige of the two franchises is night and day. It's like comparing Zone of the Enders to Metal Gear Solid. F Zero is a cult classic on some enthusiast gaming communities that has become a meme as time has gone on and there has been a lack of new games. It was never a major critical or commercial success. Metroid is goddamn Metroid.

The closest correct name would be 「ファミボード」, disregarding the plural form. ("FamiBoard")
The closest approximation retaining the plural form would be 「ファミボードズ」.

The logo says 「ファミボーズ」 which is more like saying FamiBo-s or FamiBose.

Walmart just sold me a Switch OLED lmao. The very same one that sold me The Origami King a week early last year. I even joked that I didn't think it was supposed to be out yet, and they said "it doesn't say so," and didn't think anything of it.

They didn't have Metroid out yet, though :-(
 
I thought about buying Dread's digital version given that it's only 4.1GB in size, but the physical version is still cheaper here. And i want to keep the box and look at how beautiful and glorious it is.

Been a while! And yes, Legends has the potential to be great, I just hope Game Freak pulls it off.
