They can always use Famitsu scores to say they have high scores (Sonic Forces got a 35/40)SEGA "we want to get a high review score"
Looking at this, that's definitely not happening.
I'd very much like a 3D Sonic game akin to this:
I'm pretty convinced they're thinking "open world" = high scores.SEGA "we want to get a high review score"
Looking at this, that's definitely not happening.
Which to be fair is kinda true, a good open world gets 75+ score wise almost always (That’s a really high score for a Sonic game)I'm pretty convinced they're thinking "open world" = high scores.
Totally, it isn't IGN's fault. It's definitely on Sega. However, the fact that this glitchy game play is the stuff that Sonic Team wants to show tells horrors of how the game actually is.I thought it was confirmed this was the gameplay video SEGA themselves wanted to show? Like they choosed to show this, it isn't IGN fault

I'm really done with the boost mechanic so honestly, if he were slower (more like Adventure) and the terrain was designed for momentum-based speed I'd be 100% down for that.what if......we got a fantastic 3d Sonic title......but Sonic is slower than usual.
Would that be ok or would you have an issue with Sonic being slow?...i'd be ok with it...i mean, isn't the whole point of gaming to play great games?
It was at least delayed a year ago, Sega admitted that much. Shortly after their previous community liason (and meme factory) took a corporate job as director of strategy, they said their position on Sonic games switched from "we must have a new one out every couple years" to "we just take our time and ensure quality and polish." I assume he had something to do with it because he was the only guy at Sega who would openly recognize and make fun of the bombs like Sonic 06. But that was in 2021 so.. yeah, like what have they been doing if this gameplay demo is after they delayed the game a couple years for polish? There is no way this took 5 years. It definitely has been rebooted at some point with no changes to the release period.
Assuming you're asking for genuine fan opinions? What was the last good Sonic game?
Forces, before that Colors, before that Adventure 2Wow this looks bad. Better than first video, but still very bad. What was the last good Sonic game?
lmao, trueIf I was Sega I would stop providing new footage
Forces, before that Colors, before that Adventure 2
Mania.Wow this looks bad. Better than first video, but still very bad. What was the last good Sonic game?
The animation quality in this video is something elsewow I love the “spin the sonic model in a circle around the enemy’s axis point several times upside down” animation
incredible
It's Sonic Mania.Wow this looks bad. Better than first video, but still very bad. What was the last good Sonic game?
I completely agree, but I'm not liking what we have seen so far of frontiers. I'd rather them make a literal sonic adventure 3.I'm really done with the boost mechanic so honestly, if he were slower (more like Adventure) and the terrain was designed for momentum-based speed I'd be 100% down for that.
That's actually one of the main reasons I've been begging for an open-world Sonic. I figured momentum-based traversal at speed in a BotW-style or XBX-style world would be a blast. As opposed to the push-button-to-go-fast system they've been using since Unleashed.
When it comes to 3d sonic, honestly, adventure 1 and 2. There have been ok 3d games since but nothing like sa2.Wow this looks bad. Better than first video, but still very bad. What was the last good Sonic game?
I cannot handle a Sonic game full of BOTW piano music lmfaothis music is killing me
Fully good one Colors, problem with Generations is that the last stretch of the game is terrible and the mission system is just unnecessary and filled with either redundant or plain bad challenges. Mania has some questionable level design (which is partly because is being faithful to bad level design from the source material) and level choices.Wow this looks bad. Better than first video, but still very bad. What was the last good Sonic game?
I was genuinely hoping that was what Frontiers would basically be.I'd rather them make a literal sonic adventure 3.
Forces was fine. The worst part about it was the bad writing (which hopefully won’t be a thing with future games now that they’ve finally gotten rid of those writers) and the obviously low budget nature of the game. It was on the shorter side and the level design wasn’t exactly amazing, but it was enjoyable enough and the customizable Avatar character was great.I recently watched a playthrough of Forces and besides the cringey story and dialogue, it didn’t look that bad?
Edit: by “watched” I of course mean had on in the background while I took care of my one year old
Sorry, for the double post, but the footage from the beginning of the Sonic Frontiers combat video with the longer quilled Sonic was taken way more recently.
There’s no fanbase more patient and understanding then the Sonic fanbase.
Must be a roller coaster of emotions really. Cause they get lots of merchandise, now movies, classic games every once and a while. But the main series seems to be the one that misses the mark lol.
Shamelessly stolen from Era:
I really don’t understand that attack, why does Sonic just teleport away from the enemy like that?Shamelessly stolen from Era:
that's rightlmao, true
and - Generations slander!!
