I'm so ready to finally see IS x Gust Fire Emblem, it might be one of the best looking games on the console given Gust's expertise with the Switch. Their Atelier games are gorgeous despite being relatively low budget.
Me too my friend. I'm eagerly waiting for more news on the new FE game. From what I understand it seems IS is actually developing the game but Gust is helping with the graphics development. Should look decent in handheld mode too (hopefully lol).

I also hope we get lots of CG cutscenes on the same level as Awakening.

I'm also really excited about the gameplay, according to Nate/Emily (if I got the information wrong I apologise in advance), the team behind the next FE game are really excited since apparently they have so many new ambitious gameplay features and lots of new classes.

So exciting lol.

Is this true? If so, I'm very curious to see how the game will look, I really like the aesthetic of gust games. Also, it would be interesting as this consolidates even more the link between Nintendo and koei tecmo. Two of their development teams would have worked in the franchise. What a time to be alive, given that FE was almost dead 10 years ago.

According to Emily, Gust is assisting the development on the next FE mainline game, specifically on the graphics side.

Here's the comments from Nate but the funny thing is, you're in there too lol.

What would be the bombshell announcement that Nintendo could make in your eyes?

Kotor Remake on ps5 was one, last year.

What could they announce that would make everyone go “wow!”?
A new 2D Turrican exactly like Julian Eggebrecht said he would do it (Pixel-art, gamedesign à la Turrican 2 on Amiga, sharing & creatnig levels with a creation tool inspired by Super Mario Maker…)

At this point every dev team in KT has work with a Nintendo franchise. Omega Force and Team Ninja on FE Warrios, Omega Force on both Hyrule Warriors, Ruby Party on Buddy Mission Bond, Gust, potentially, on new FE. FE Three Hopes is probably OF and TN again. Outside of those, all KT has are supp studios.

It can basically be announced on any weekday given there is usually a gap between announcement and the presentation itself. I still think its pretty much guaranteed by the end of next week

Pls Pokemon Presents give us Pokemon Conquest 2 🥺
Nobuga’s Ambition team should be free now their game releases in July already

I'm just saying (and this is my personal opinion) if Nintendo decided to do seperate releases for Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD at 40 or 60 dollars/euros each, I'd buy them simply to have two more physical Zelda Switch games to add to my humble collection

Jokes aside: if that new hardware is this calendar year, it’d benefit them to announce it before any games showcases because they’ll get the extra marketing push of “look how good these look/run on the new hardware” which wouldn’t have been a focal point on the July-announced Lite/OLED

I won’t rule out a July announcement but a late May/Very Early June announcement just makes sense to me. Maybe just a tease, with “see this power in action during our Direct” at the end

I don’t feel any hardware announcement is coming soon-ish-mish-pish. It’s way too quiet. Nate has been looking to get whatever info he’s needed for like forever it feels like lol. No other insider has any update in a long time. Just dead silent.

tangential take: announcing new hardware won't kill current sales if it's 500+ USD

edit: but I agree with DC above, the silence has really given me pause

Nintendo could be on absolute leak lockdown. Can’t rule that out. Leaks are great but we can’t jump from “no leaks” to “there is nothing.”

I also want to bring up, unless he has heard something else since, Nate DID say devs were told to have new hardware games ready for end of 2022.

100% agreed. I do not think they’re going to target mass market with the new unit. It will absolutely be the Pro model in the Apple product line-up sense of the word: if you don’t already know the difference and you don’t already know you want it, you don’t. I think they’re specifically going to target people who could already tell you what DLSS stands for. The Digital Foundry Subcriber.

Look at last May how many insiders were discussing this. Talk was alive and I believe one or two was thinking it was going to be announced before E3 2021. Compare it one year later and this silence is “worrying”.

Back then we all thought the new 2021 model was going to be the Pro. I think there’s no talk this time around because 1) the topic has already been talked to death and 2) the info is already out there. There’s nothing left to talk about. We’re getting a 4K capable through DLSS Premium Switch model. We know this. We just need Nintendo to tell us the name, when we can get it and how much it’s going to cost.

I hope they announce it sooner than later. I’m ready to move on.

Totally with you! We all know it exists. No one buying a Switch right now who would rather have the Pro doesn’t know the Pro is coming. I wish they’d just tell us so we can get our pre-orders in, and developers can start showing off their enhanced games.

Whether it's games or hardware, I'm just not spending my time trying to speculate things too far into the future. With the way supply chains have been, we don't even know if Nintendo thinks releasing new hardware is feasible. Yes, nerds on the internet know that there is new hardware coming eventually. But that doesn't mean that hardware is coming out soon.

Yeah, Gust games actually look pretty good relative to their (I assume?) tiny budgets and short development time. Intelligent Systems themselves already made (imo) one of most visually impressive Switch games with Origami King, so them making the game with some sort of assistance by Gust could definitely end up being among the best looking Switch games, which would obviously be an insane jump from Three Houses, which is probably the worst looking first party Switch game lol. It would also be interesting to see what Gust is capable of when assisting on a game with a significantly higher budget and longer development time than anything they've ever made alone.

Personally, I'm guessing their assistance will be helping with the artstyle, so the next FE will look like a really pretty cel-shaded game.

I think that's mainly due to how toxic the subject is on all fronts. You get the ire of NCL (publicly attempting to debunk news reports), and then you get all sorts of reactions from random people on the internet ranging from "fake" to "I'm so over this, who cares" to "Bloomberg is as reliable as SuperMetalDave" (someone actually posted that last one here on this board)

The point is, unless one of these insiders is super duper sure about timing or if they have anything new to add to the whole thing, there's really no reason to talk about what they've heard. It will only give them grief.
