Its the first time after five years straight that there hasn't been an Indie direct in the Feb-April period.

The Indie World twitter is still active, but I wonder if the California branch closing had any effect on the usual schedule for these things.

I dont expect a Zelda Blowout. There is to much in between to clear up. We have a rough outline for the rest of the year.
We COULD get to september with soem twitter anouncements.
Them clearing up that Xenoblade and Splatoon have switched could be an indication for that.

But besides pokemon, whats the big Holiday one? Bayo? does not feel like the BIG one, more like a "second tier" like Luigis Mansion.

FE? Did i miss something?

Im currently pretty out of the loop what to expect from nintendo in the next year.
Mario + Rabbids. Splatoon isn't technically holiday, but it could also count given that it's releasing close to the holidays.

Oh, yeah, that one... (aso you can quess, im not a fan, and dont find it exciting...not because the game is bad,
is probably plays just fine, but i dont like the presentation /story/world at all)

this then also feels like there wont be a real FE at the same time, since both are turn based strategy games...
and they had Advance Wars scheduled for this Year. Yeah, dont think well see FE.

Seems like i will play Pokemon in the second half... and maybe that DQ3 remake...

Splatoon and Xenoblade isn’t an indication for twitter announcements. Nintendo wasn’t going to wait until June to announce Xenoblade was releasing a month later. We will have our normal June direct.

I feel bad for the people that lost their jobs first and foremost.

Probably not, but would also not be to weird. I was not implying that there wont be one till september. There may be one in the regular E3 spot, and if not, and they feel like the timing does not work quite out for them that they could just have a handfull of anouncements on wtitter and a beefy september one. Both options.
What i was more thinking is that i just dont see a big BotW2 blowout in June, irregardless if there is a direct or not.

imo September through November is a loose "Holiday Season" timeframe as far as major game releases go.
yeah I guess thats fair, I always saw it as Late October onward. Either way Splatoon will definitely get another big bump on the holidays

IMO the way to think about "Holiday Season" is that it is the Season between the two major holidays: Halloween and New Years
Wouldnt it be Black Friday and Christmas/New Years? Black Friday seems to be a bigger event sales wise than Halloween (I know Black Friday isnt that big outside of USA/Europe but that’s the same case with Christmas)

NoA is tweeting at its normal pace, its just that they aren't going to be tweeting out any big announcements this week

I just wanted to call Halloween a major holiday lol

Speaking of Galaxy.

Lots of talks about new 3D Mario recently. Whether or not it's gonna be Odyssey-style, or go the Bowser's Fury route or be something more off-kilter ... etc.

What would people feel if the next 3D Mario is Galaxy 3?

Holiday season is the day after Halloween. Stores start putting out their decorations and begin their holiday sales. When a company says a game is coming out "holiday", they are certainly about it coming out after Black Friday. They need to the game to out before then to be available on Black Friday.

Black Friday is usually the deadline where companies stop releasing new products.

The Galaxy games are my favorite 3D Marios so I would be super hyped. But I actually want Odyssey 2 more, since it has more potential for iteration and improvement due to not having a sequel yet.

I know it’s Golden Week but combined with a slow and dull work week maaaan this week has been dead. I’m hoping that post-holidays Nintendo has something juicy for us next week and we really start the pre-June buildup

Next week will have the MHR presentation and will probably have a Strikers trailer so it should be nice. After that its a matter of waiting for announcements for the June direct and pokemon presents which could fall in May or June

I forgot about MHR, there’s that and also financials on the 10th, so we’re getting stuff to chew on next week for sure

I would be overjoyed on another level if the next 3D Mario is Galaxy 3. It's my most wanted game sequel of all time.

Yes please.

I really like Odissey and it's "open-world" nature, but it would be a nice change of pace for a Mario game to return to the levels of the galaxy games; i think there are less restraints on the creativity of the levels.

I’d love a Galaxy 3. The Galaxy games are still my favorite 3D Marios due to how creative they can be, and how they can do so much with almost puzzle-platforming mini-challenges. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Odyssey as well and it was also bursting with creativity but I think there’s still a ton they could do with Galaxy.

I’d also be fine with something completely and totally new and different, though, whatever that may look like.

I think there's a lot more to do with the Odyssey formula, we've only scratched the surface.
I really like Mario Galaxy too, but today I found a lot of what I loved about Galaxy in Splatoon. The Octo Expansion is clearly a masterpiece that reminds me a lot of Mario Galaxy, from the gameplay creativity to the great level design.

I feel like it would be easy enough to blend Galaxy and Odyssey gameplay. Odyssey already had those special areas where you were transported to some surreal dimension obstacle course for some of the moons. You could expand those out and get even crazier with them while also providing big open environments to explore in the main worlds.

Odyssey and the Galaxies are my favorite Mario games by a good margin so I'd be more than fine with either

I still feel like Odyssey 2 but with a more open slant is the vibe for the next mainline 3D mario

Yeah, Odyssey has a lot of pottential. Man, i bought the expansion forever ago, only 3 months ago found a cheap copy of 2, and now am playing the single player... im still kinds strugling with the controlls, but the singleplayer is obviously just a tutorial for the game.

I am kinda hyped for Octo Expansion... but also hope that the controlls click till then.

Oh, yeah. Everything Galaxy does special can be replicated in Odyssey... and actually the other way around to i feel. The question is, what style do they want to be the dominant one... i hope Odyssey.

Yeah, the thing about "The Next Mario" is, I'm not ready to say goodbye to Cappy and the capture abilities and all of that yet. There's definitely more potential there. And if we're not getting Odyssey 2, I'm forever going to be mad we didn't get additional worlds (with new enemies and captures!) via DLC.

I definitely think that there is a ton of more potential for Cappy and captures for sure, and it offers the mario team the chance to flex their creative muscles with new inhabitants of the mario world since Odyssey added so many

Walking into it, I definitely want to see open world Mario the most right now (bigger Bowser’s Fury), but I’d still be bouncing off the walls with hype if we got a Galaxy 3.

Ill only take a galaxy 3 if its as magical as 1. 2 was still good obviously and the courses were perhaps more interesting than 1 buut

It didnt have 1's charm. The extra mile SMG went to tell a story, its atmosphere, those were the things that made it what it was.

My issue with Odyssey is that most Moons felt like they were there randomly, in Mario 64 every star felt like a mini puzzle/activity you had to resolve or win to get the star, in Odyssey there are some like in Mario 64 but also a lot you get for free or without feeling like you really did anything to get them.
