The fact that Microsoft is still doing a showcase on their usual E3 time slot somehow does inspire a little more confidence in Nintendo doing the same. Thinking we might finally learn the name of BotW2 still feels unreal.

I don't know if Microsoft is part of the Summer Game Fest but nevertheless, it is listed on Summer Game Fest's website. I wonder if Nintendo will behave similarly? Announce a Direct in the usual timeframe and then Summer Game Fest lists the direct on their website as "a part of the event?"

Last year Threehouse featured 8 games (metroid dread, wario ware, mario golf super rush, mario party superstars, shin megami tensei v, advance wars 1+2, monster hunter stories 2 and no more heroes 3)

So I guess (if they are preparing a direct for mid june as always) this years threehouse can be:
1) fire emblem three hopes
2) live a live
3) xenoblade 3
4) splatoon 3
5) bayonetta 3
6) pokemon scarlet/violet (sword/shield gameplay was shown at 2019 threehouse)
7) mario + rabbids 2
8) metroid prime 1 remaster

Just like 2021, I think threehouse segment will be focused on 2022 titles. Its possible one of those titles gets swapped via another unannounced first or (timed console exclusive) third title.

I think Strikers would be out by then but they might still show it.

After I finish my Xenoblade playthrough I'm going to continue my Zelda Timeline playthrough and would love to know which version of the Gamecube titles I should play. So a Direct sooner rather than later confirming Zelda WW and TP HD Switch version would be a dream.

Do I dare choose hope and join Team May Direct?

I could see Live A Live being swapped out with a new game announcement. Otherwise that is a good list.

Its possible, Strikers Battle League is releasing june 10th and Threehouse 2022 will possible be between june 15-17th, so yeah I agree that it may be a little redundant to show a title that just got released the weekend before. I made the mistake because on both 2018 and 2021 they shown Mario Tennis/Golf but those games were released the week after Threehouse.

I will correct it. Doing that, the list got reduced to 8 titles, the same as 2021....

It's possible, but if the Direct + Treehouse is in June I think Live A Live will be there since it's an exclusive being published by Nintendo and the release would be a month away.

It got brought up earlier in the thread so for the record, this month’s Persona announcement is for another livestreamed concert in October (last one was super good). Next announcement is in June. May be cool, may not be.
That’s about what I figured. There are three left, correct? Interesting that they’re doing three more announcements in only a four month span (June-September). Assuming September is the P6 teaser, I still hope there’s an actual game or remaster or port among the other two, and I could see it being announced in June. Atlus is kind of due to announce their next project before long, since Soul Hackers 2 is out in August, and that’s the only game we know of from them IIRC?

Yes on both. Three announcements left and Soul Hackers 2 is the only Atlus game announced at this time. I’m 100% confident the last one is Persona 6, but now it is a bit concerning there are only two other ones left. New ports and a spinoff could be the last two, but we still haven’t gotten an anime announcement yet which is a strong contender (I wouldn’t put it past them to do a P5Royal anime for example needed or not).

The June date is interesting though since we have the Microsoft show and likely a Nintendo show that same month…

If I had to guess, one of the two will be an anime or merchandise or stageplay or something more in that vein, and the other will actually be a game. I'm leaning more toward just a port (or maybe more than one? Which is still good!) but my heart is still hoping for some kind of enhanced Persona 3 remaster/remake combo thing

If it's a June direct, I wonder if a new Game & Watch series will be announced for another November release. Maybe Donkey Kong or Metroid?

Aesthetics wise i really hope the rumoured switch resident evil game is like the newer ones. I dont have much love for the corny stories of the older RE. Rogue Squadron 3? Please?

So do you guys think they announce this with normal direct timing(2 days in advance) or do they announce it more in advance similar to E3 events?

Have you earned an Indie World?
I have more Indie Games on my Switch than my entire GoG & Steam library. My Switch is an Indie World.

I think my most anticipated games are Axiom Verge 3 & 4 (Tom Happ already said that there will be at least four games, all tied to each others but also their own stories, so you don’t have to play all the games).

Also Turrican Anthology Vol. 1 & 2 (witch are coming in a few weeks on the eShop & PS Store).

I've come to remind you all that I'm based

I just hope we get more FE info, A december release for a brand new FE game would make this my favorite switch year if it releases alongside the rest of this great year.

Same here. New FE is about the only thing I'm missing right now, since XC3 is soon and we know BOTW2 is soon-ish. I just hope that it's revealed in the next Direct even if it isn't out until early 2023.

Yup, and considering Emily said she just got a ton of new info on it, I imagine we'll hear about it soon, whether official or through Emily giving some hints at what she knows

Part of me wants them to get it over with and release WWHD and TPHD already but I also have 0 interest in replaying these games, ever. And if they come out this year I'm wondering what that might mean for BotW2. As others have mentioned, perhaps in this thread as well, it might point to a "late" early 2023 release.
Same boat here. I'd much prefer a 2D game or spinoff this year with BOTW 2 in March...

The SGF website says "Summer Game Fest 2021 partners (Listed) - Stay tuned for 2022 partner announcements." It is weird and vaguely misleading but it's not outright claiming any event it isn't already licensed to. Keighley doesn't slap on the SGF brand without an official deal and permission from the partner.

Speaking of this, I guess I hadn't checked the calendar before but the XBOX showcase is literally the exact same date and time it would have always been had E3 been happening, which is kind of funny. Maybe Nintendo will do the same thing? All the companies will just say "Sure E3 isn't happening but our showcases will all be the usual times anyway, screw you ESA, no one needs you involved in this"

here's a question

why does Nintendo sit on some games and also put out a new Wii Sports without golf or even full support of the accessory in the box
My best guess is that online-oriented games benefit from being kept in the conversation, even if they don't have a sustained revenue model.

For example, in Splatoon 2, weapons unlocked weekly for a while even if there was no actual game update, because Nintendo withheld them until the desired time. There were weapons sitting complete on the 1.0.0 cartridge that we had to wait to play.

Did you have a link?
It was on a thread about Destiny 2 coming to new systems and someone replied a post saying it could be a cloud game that it's not. It's a random reddittor anyway but they do turn out to be right time to time.
Doesn't Sony own Bungie now? No chance this is legit.
Destiny 2 is a multiplat game already and if this is real, it probably was planned way earlier than the acquisition.

Bungie maintains their independence after the sony adquisition, with a multi platform policy

Even so, I doubt this is real. Makes no sense IMO.

I still believe that Nintendo will have a slow 2023 (BotW 2 will be released on March-April, like SS it will be one year before the new hardware), specially the 2nd half of the year, as they are developing games that will be aimed at the first year of whatever system Nintendo releases next.

So my guess for a Direct on May-June is:

-Splatoon 3 details, they may want to unveil whatever this game has as the new big addition (maybe new mode) as well as their continued support plans for 2023
-Same for Xc3, revealing that the game is fully open world or other big change from Xc2 is a good guess for a Direct
-Metroid Prime 1 remake, the rumored title may be a Christmas game
-Zelda WiiU HD titles on Switch, October release
-More MK8 tracks
-Some 3rd party ports
-A FE remake of Genealogy for next January/February

I will be surprised if Nintendo announces anything big, like a new Mario or DK game, as I fully expect them to save the games for their new system at this point. Some remasters, ports, remakes and DLC can help make the last year of the Switch a decent one, adding to this the strong lineup of 1st party games for 2022 I don't see the need to release anything bigger now. About Zelda, they will show it later this year, I expect a name drop on September and then a big gameplay reveal on December, with a set release date by then.

Don’t forget Bayonetta 3 :(
True, my bad. Bayo 3 may be a Christmas/early 2023 game as well (if it not has been further delayed), so the Zelda HD ports or Metroid Prime 1 Remake can be 2023 games to fill some gap (in the case of Zelda late 2023 but I still think the games will be out before BotW sequel).

So I'll update my list:

-Bayonetta 3, as MP1 remake can be a late 2022 or 2023 game, I think we will see extended gameplay soon

If anything, I think it would be Kirby, right? It's Kirby's anniversary and you could put Dream Land 1, Dream Land 2, and Adventure on there with the buttons it has.
