I encourage all of you to listen to Nate's podcast, but if you can't for some reason, here's the TLDR;

BOTW 2 delay isn't to take advantage of a simultaneous release with Switch Pro, but it could end up working in the console's favor if they launch at the same time.

WW HD / TP HD should come this year. Unsure of double pack or separate releases but hopes for the former.

The happy, unexpected news: Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is back on the menu for 2022, will drop this holiday.
Watching it as I speak. Though, dealing with yet another bad headache this morning so at least this is nice to watch to pass the time

Holy shit that Kirby postgame

This is amazing lol.

"I worked on LSWTSS. When I heard that Adam Howden would be providing his voice to the game, I tried to work in a Xenoblade reference somewhere.

I managed to get this one in on the last puzzle I worked on.

I wasn't in the booth when he was recording, but I had an email from the script editor at the time. He said that Adam was initially unsure about the line, but after being told that it was a Xenoblade reference, he nailed it. He was happy to hear that it was indeed a Xenoblade reference."

WW HD/TW HD and M+R2 this year is going to make me very happy.

Craft Boss, a Japanese coffee brand, is running a campaign to celebrate Kirby's 30th anniversary. Here's the official playlist on Spotify, containing many gaming inspired songs:

This is the promotional video of the campaign:

"There's gonna be a Mario game coming out this holiday season!"

"...and it's the one developed and published by Ubisoft!"

I really wanna be more excited for Mario + Rabbids 2. Soliani and the Ubisoft Milan team did good work on the last game, but...it's freaking Ubisoft, man. Seeing that name is anti hype to me.

I hope WW HD/ TP HD comes in that July gap Nintendo might have (assuming Splatoon is August). I never played either on WiiU.

Hopefully BOTW2 is early April or something and not late May, although Nintendo probably would have put Summer 2023 if their schedule said late May. I think the sequel will be a early or mid April release.

WW/TP HD works perfectly as a July or August late-summer combo pack, I'd love for that to come true. I never beat TP in any version, and I never played WW HD so I'm excited for both!

MVG and Nate are both expecting March 2023 for BOTW 2 like most of us.

@NateDrake I noticed you had some major pep in your step this episode. Your enthusiasm in your intro was gripping! Good episode!

Exciting to hear Mario + Rabbids is back on the menu. Could be a cozy Christmas game…

The bigger thing about the list of game developers using UE5 or UE in general is the developers NOT using them.

Capcom has RE engine, flexible and fantastic for their games genre
Sony First Party have their engines
Nintendo have their engines
Ubisoft have snowdrop
EA has moved from frostbyte
Take-two unsure.

But yeah Microsoft seems to be going all in on UE. In my opinion more engine diversity is better but in the current talent hiring spree, UE is accesible. Also some companies might stick with 4 for now until they get a better hold of the engine, like Bandai or Sega

Sega has Dragon engine which is also quite flexible but some games like SMT V still used UE4 , some of these companies may also move the development of some games to UE5. Only one I don't see ever doing so for the 1st party games is Nintendo.

Man, if the only Mario game we're getting at the end of the year is M+R2 then I'm gonna be upset. We haven't got a new 2D Mario and 2D Donkey Kong since 2013-2014. It's been EIGHT YEARS.

Mario getting all these posthumous releases makes him the Tupac of gaming. Mario + Rabbids 2 is like those weird mashups that put his unreleased verses into unrelated songs.

Heads up, Walmart has discontinued their discount program and new games no longer have a discount(Kirby, MLB and Lego SW being the first examples). Old stuff hasn’t changed tho

Kinda surreal to see "We want a Mario game, it's been years!" after the end of Wii into the Wii U & 3DS era of a new Mario game coming out practically every year, NSMBW until Mario Kart 8 / Super Mario Maker

Not saying this in a negative tone, but it's just kinda wild to me lol

I also want a new 2D & 3D Mario game

Wonder if they plan to leverage discounts to drive Walmart +? Was good while it lasted. Even less incentive to get anything at launch for me.

I suppose Metroid Prime HD is also a lock. any words about this supposed upcoming new Fire Emblem?

Bullshit blazing take but "That's Dunban over there" is the superior Xeno-meme
I agree, but "I'm really feeling it" is more famous.

I also really love "Don't forget me!"

I still chuckle every time I remember Nintendo of America tweeted this with no context whatsoever.

Can someone explain the "that's dunban over there" meme to me? I don't get it. Is it dunban's face? Or is it the randomness of it?

I wonder if the Mario movie is Sparks of Hope related. 🤔🤔🤔

TP and WW being this year’s Zelda releases would be simultaneously expected and disappointing, personally speaking. But I guess they have to release them eventually.

As much as I do want WW on Switch, I kind of agree. I'd much rather have Oracle remakes, or a brand new 2D Zelda, or something, since I've played both WW and TP fairly recently and the only real benefit to having them on Switch for me personally is them being portable. But I'll still take them if that's all we're getting.

We are definitely overdue for a new 2D Zelda game. I was really hoping that we would of had one some time in 2021-2024ish but we are looking at three straight years of 3D Zelda games.

Here is hoping we get something in 2024 for the 2D fans.

I’m in a similar position so I’m probably going to skip them altogether unless they offer some substantial improvements or additional content (very unlikely) or are bundled (somewhat unlikely).

I'd love to see a DK this year since it has been rumored for a while now, but H2 is really full. MP remake is probably August/October, Xenoblade 3 in Sept, Bayonetta in October, and M&R sharing November with Pokemon, (and that's not even including Zelda ports) I don't really see a good spot for it. I don't know how often they do December games but that's when the Mario movie is releasing so I think it'll be an empty games month.

Bayo 3 isn’t nearly big enough to hold October by itself, similar to Metroid last year. They can put Bayo 3 in the beginning of the month and a lot DK in the latter half.

Do you mean "allot DK in the latter half," or like... do you mean there'll be A LOT of DK in the latter half? 👀
Because I can get behind either

I don't care a lot about WW+TP releasing instead of other Zelda games due to not being a one or the other situation, different studios would be involved in the case of 2D Zelda remakes/new games (there is even one rumored in development) and there is no reason to believe why WW+TP releasing means these games get delayed or not made. I see a WW+TP release as just an extra release they had prepared in case of in a year not being able to deliver a new Zelda game.
