Last month people were all "I can't believe the Switch 2 has been delayed to March 2025, that's 13 months away!".
Well, now it's 12.

OK, so regarding Final Fantasy VII Rebirth:

Holy shit what a game. Posted my thoughts in the 2024 Completed Games thread if you care to read them.

Now I can move on to other stuff. Likely shorter, simpler stuff because I don't think I can stomach another 83-hour epic right now.

These sinus headaches I’ve been getting are killing my current interest in ff7 rebirth. Making me rather play something else.

I haven’t had a real chance to play all week and today I just stared at the home menu and just closed out. I just didn’t feel like playing it today.

You ever replay a game from your childhood and, to your horror, have to realise that it didn't age well at all?
So many times :(
Some memories should definitely stay memories. Loads of Commodore 64 games come to mind as well as early NES games.

Just remembered replaying Double Dragon II recently and I used to be great but the way controls change when you change your stance is mind boggling nowadays. It was a deception playing that again.

people playing games during childhood is the reason why we're in this situation
the situation where we’re shitposting on a video game forum?

fair point, no comeback

Side Order is like if somebody took the bones and muscles of Splatoon plus the sinews of Portal, mashed them into the shape of Hades, and made each limb look like a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild shrine

I still can’t get over how much fun it is to play
I am super interested to see how you feel about this one once you reach credits. I love how you're describing the vibes here, and as someone who really likes Side Order I cannot wait for more discussion on it.

I’ve reached the credits as of today! Thoroughly enjoyed!

still have to do all the other weapons to get the deep lore but had a great time!

Just 100%'d Bully Scholarship Edition on my Steam Deck with around 24 hours of playtime. I loved it. This was my first time playing through and I regret not playing it sooner.
Game is hard-locked at 30fps but other than that it runs and controls great on the deck, zero crashes.

The moment you find out how a game mechanic works about 75% through the game and missed a lot missable content because of time sensitive story beats locking it out.

y’all what the fuck

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley fucking rules

game of the year

game of all time

I am standing up and cheering at 1am about this fucking game

Well then, that's enough to add it to my eShop wishlist.

Before optimization once on Switch Lite and once on my PC. Now I'm checking how it runs on Switch and Steam Deck to decide.
Ooooooh man they fixed the Switch version. Like I seriously don't get why it released in the state it did because how it runs now is the way it shoulda been the whole time. High framerate, buttery smooth, no more game engine chugging during battles, it's fixed. Really.

Now that I’m replaying Chrono Trigger maybe I should play Chrono Cross

After the other 20 RPGs in my backlog perhaps

seems our favorite mustachioed menace is neither brave nor bold enough to headline Plumber Mario: Showtime!

simply can’t bake worth a shit

leaving Peach to pick up the slack yet again
Peach: Mario, could you maybe help with the baking this time?

Mario: uhhhhh *just fucking dies*

hey fami remind me to watch this in the morning, looks thrilling

I will if you pay me $70

JK you can use that to buy yourself your favorite beverage that hopefully has some coffee and post about it in the coffee thread and then make @Aurc watch Seinfeld

Yeah, most of them, honestly. I don't think any NES games really hold up outside of SMB3, and only a handful on SNES. Final Fantasy II/IVj is possibly the one that's fallen furthest in my estimation.

I think what's really interesting, though, is that some games that are 30+ years old are still so good: the aforementioned SMB3, of course, but also Super Metroid and SMW.

Me playing TotK, building Frankenstein contraptions to finish temples and then looking up on Youtube how you are supposed to built something to finish them: "I now see why I failed math at high school"
😭😭😭

Been playing EDF 2025 as my chill out game. Biggest foe grinding an early level on hardest for better weapons isn’t the tougher enemies but darned invincible civilians running in front of my splash rocket launcher and blowing me up DX

It’s on sale on Xbox right now, played bits years ago but never did the full game maybe I should grab it
I think it is time for a replay. Redownloading on Switch.

It’s been in my backlog since it hit a good sale… maybe I should bump it up my list
