I live in a condo, so I use earbuds/headphones most of the time. I wish my downstairs neighbor would...sounds like a club or something at times and I've had to go multiple times to ask them to turn it down to at least a reasonable level.

GIVE IT UP FOR HOUR TWENTY THREE OF NO WI-FI IN MY CONDO

It is a Canadian Heritage Moment™ to feel sodomized by Rogers Telecommunications. Something something cheaper to contact a cell phone mobile provider in France, converse with them in French, let them make fun of your accent a little, and purchase a monthly plan that is set to permanently roam in Canada. $80CAD a month for 20GB data vs €45 ($65CAD) a month for 200GB at 5G speeds.

It is hell.

Speaking of Hell, shout out your US Representatives who have tabled bipartisan supported legislation decrying the "dangers" of TikTok to be banned across the US as being a more pressing concern over [fill in the blank]!

I'm confused, has NOA been tweeting less? They used to tweet same time every weekday, now it seems like it's random times and different every day.

There's been a lot of discussion about how Dune Part 2 cost less than $200 million to make and how budgets for other big Hollywood movies are overblown. It's kind of interesting how the same discussion can be had about games. Spider-Man 2 supposed cost double what the original was made for which is crazy. Makes you think what the money was being spent on. I do wonder if a lot of development time and money is spend on things that don't really matter to people in the end. Things like making sure this level of graphical fidelity is just perfect or spending lots of time making things that are good for trailers and animated gifs but don't ultimately affect the overall quality of the game.

The original only had one Spiderman

The sequel has two Spidermen

Makes sense it would cost double

What if Kate Middleton’s disappearance was just a Super Princess Peach marketing stunt and she’s going to reveal herself this Friday on the games release.

Didn't the crazy rise in property prices and rent in the wake of the pandemic play a major factor in the ballooning budget? Or was that just internet discourse conjecture?

Also what a wild world to live in, where "less than $200 million" is considered a kinda modest budget for a movie 😭

Yeah like did they expect the studio wouldn't pay the extra Spiderman?

Spiderman don't work for exposure.

well I guess in a way Parker kinda did

It's not that Dune is cheap but that it was able to achieve the spectacle and looks on a budget much less than uglier looking Hollywood blockbusters. I would expect the cost of Spider-Man 2 to have gone up but not double, especially when a lot of stuff they made for the first game was probably carried over to the sequel.

Maybe it has to do with less support for third party apps to schedule tweets since Elon took over, in turn forcing companies like Nintendo to tweet manual again.

I'm attempting to RNG a shiny starter Eevee in Pokemon XD because it actually seems really easy.

My deafening silence over the next few hours will likely prove that incorrect.

I was 1 frame off on one of my attempts, which I'll call a win.

So I'm trying to make a "monster arena" for my next/final update, where you can watch and bet on monsters fighting each other. Took very little work to set up the bones of it!

Done a lot of hard work today helping planting potatoes and shoveling compost. Tired and worn out. Parts of my left hand are sore from all that shoveling

I am super hyped for the return of Star Wars battlefront tomorrow.

I’ve also not had a sinus headache in the last day or so, thank god.

I can tell I’ve curated my Youtube and Twitter feeds well when I can encounter dozens and dozens of games media and general gaming folk telling the current “forced diversity controversy” babies to grow up and stop throwing tantrums, and I had to look up what they were even talking about because I had seen literally nothing from the other side or had any idea a controversy was even happening other than their responses
there's that article that quotes one of those troglodytes and one of them made a completely serious comment about how the normies don't care about this and they need to make them care about it. as if people have the bandwidth to care about some consulting company that edits scripts lmao. none of these pricks have an ounce of self awareness of how utterly goofy their shit looks to anyone that doesn't spend 20 hours on twitter everyday.

Another 12 hours from now, at minimum 🙃

I hope Ted Rogers is slow cooking on a rotisserie spit in hell.

In a ideal world you’d be right, but I still think we gotta take this seriously. Last time far-right gamers got mad about imaginary shit it snowballed and we ended up losing a whole bunch of a generation of young men to the far-right/anti-feminism/men’s rights movements.

Hopefully you’ll get your wifi back for Star Wars battlefront tomorrow

I need to enjoy myself after the headache hell and then spending the day planting potatoes today

Fingers crossed, but man I'm ticked I now can't join my D&D session online because all my friends are teachers and were planning an early breakfast session while they're off on the March Break 😂

I was gonna ask if you have Spectrum, but no, you're Canadian, so you're subjected to a different shitty media conglomerate for your internet needs.

I don't disagree, but I think it's a bit of a chicken and egg thing. Boys and young men are drawn to reactionary sentiment in large part because of the superstructures of society already in place, so the cycle is very hard to break. Stuff like GamerGate is more of a symptom of a greater problem I think.

As ammunition for a spud gun

(Never actually built a spud gun, that would've been a waste of potatoes)
Know what'd be rad is to put some sort of sharp metal grating over the output end of the spud gun and see if when it fires it makes hashbrowns

Oh, seems like you can still use Steam keys for delisted games, is that true?

My game store/electronics store (a large chain and not shady second-hand stuff) still has Steam keys in store for Spec Ops. Excited to finally play it if it works.

Yup, the keys should still be valid.

I'd love to give Pikmin a shot sometime but given my backlog I have no idea when. I think I have Pikmin 3 on the Wii U but I would actually have to double check.

That's alright, almost everyone here can say something like this, just replace Pikmin with another game.

"I'd love to give Elden Ring a shot sometime but given my backlog I have no idea when"

"I'd love to give Metal Gear Solid a shot sometime but given my backlog I have no idea when"

"I'd love to give Xenoblade Chronicles a shot sometime but given my backlog I have no idea when"

So on and so forth

I was trying to get an idea of how character polygon budget has changed over the generations, and ended up at The Models Resource. I knew of The Spriters Resource, but never paid attention to the links to sistser sites at the top, I guess. The information on the site is kind of bare bones, so I downloaded Blender to try getting more info. First big comparison, the polygonal 2D Marios. I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something in the stats or I just have a worse understanding of 3D modeling than I thought, but I was surprised to see that NSMB Wii Mario has a lot more triangles than NSMB DS Mario, but still fewer vertices? I would've assumed they'd pretty much scale together. Anyway, Wonder Mario is a big jump up, and here are wireframe images from DS, Wii, and Switch Marios.

DS NSMB: 1026 verts, 636 tris
Wii NSMB: 917 verts, 1634 tris
3DS NSMB2: 1002 verts, 1139 tris
WiiU NSMBU: 1325 verts, 1656 tris
NSW SMBW: 4396 verts, 6888 tris (couldn't remove hair going through cap without removing a lot of the face, so... more or less)
