I'm all for quality of life changes but recent Pokémon games just always have totally destroyed borked difficulty through the mandatory exp share. And I know it's kond of a bandaid fix for no difficulty selection, I mean shared exp work for me in other games. For me remasters are more than preservation, they are a way to make old games more playable according to modern standards. While I understand the criticisms for BDSP, I rather play that than touch the originals or even Platinum.
The color saturation and slightly deformed character models don't work for me as a Gen V remake. It's fine as a cutesy revisit of Kanto. This looks way better, just give us that:
Guess it’s B/W remakesRiddler Khu just posted something new, for what it is worth.

Apples to oranges.at least the combat presentation of the old console games are so much better than anything GF has done
Bring on the cel shading.Riddler Khu just posted something new, for what it is worth.

Masters isn't cel shading, it's no-lighting whatsoever.Bring on the cel shading.
Arceus already had a reduced scope focusing more on catching Pokémon than trainer battles and was better for it.If we can get battle animations as engaging as Colosseum and XD by simply drastically reducing scope, scope begone, I say.
Pokemon fans when they find out the 20 year old game they rented from Blockbuster has a decent Double Kick animationIf we can get battle animations as engaging as Colosseum and XD by simply drastically reducing scope, scope begone, I say.
the biggest problem with SV's open world is that it doesn't justify itself beyond themeatics. there's nothing to really find beyond pokemon and the way they're spawned is kinda borked. the world needs more landmarks and quests that make you look for shitIf they really want to do a grand open world they should give it the time and should just do smaller games inbetween if they have to keep up yearly releases.
I will sacrifice whatever it takes to return to the glory days of watching Hoothoot hop up and down on alternating feet all battle long and every Pokémon having an extended fainting animation. I’ll sacrifice everything.Pokemon fans when they find out the 20 year old game they rented from Blockbuster has a decent Double Kick animation
Scope includes the games having one third of the current Pokemon roster. If we can get battle animations as engaging as Colosseum and XD by simply drastically reducing scope, scope begone, I say.
We’re already cutting mons from the roster anyway, I’m down to cut plenty more per game if that’s what’s necessary, personally.Scope includes the games having one third of the current Pokemon roster.
I don't think its so simple, otherwise Legends would also have better animations
Yes, I used 'cel-shading' in an imprecise colloquial way. I prefer a flat style that is closer to how Sugimori art looks. I don't necessarily want the remakes to look exactly like Masters.Masters isn't cel shading, it's no-lighting whatsoever.
folks out here calling near-diffuse-only cell shading. bluds lost the plot
- Difficult Pokémon to catch like the honey tree Pokémon are now easily obtainable in the Grand UndergroundI'm all for quality of life changes but recent Pokémon games just always have totally destroyed borked difficulty through the mandatory exp share. I don't even hate how BDSP looks, it's kinda cute, I just don't think it looks better.
What else did they change compared to the originals? I honestly struggle to come up with something about them that makes them more modern really, game mechanics wise.
It's cool that the games are accessible without emulation or hunting down a DS, but if I have the option I'd go for the original in this case.
they didn't work on Pokemon Sleep, that was Select Button according to a quick searchwhat if ILCA was working on Pokémon Sleep because they're doing BW remakes and they're using Sleep as the replacement for the Dream World

Yeah I don't know if that narrative really ever held water.damn ILCA is on everything pokemon lately
and we're supposed to believe GF was unhappy with them?
Pretty much this. The open world is just there, unlike Arceus which brilliantly uses it. Granted, Legends had the advantage of reutilizing lore for stuff like Shaymin and Darkrai eventsthe biggest problem with SV's open world is that it doesn't justify itself beyond themeatics. there's nothing to really find beyond pokemon and the way they're spawned is kinda borked. the world needs more landmarks and quests that make you look for shit
yeah idk why folks think this would look bad in a (insert gen here) remake bc its still the best looking one on Switch imo mainly thanks to how cohesive it all isThis looks way better, just give us that:
I'm gonna be honest, if Khu doesn't put out something with actual meat on the bone before the Presents airs (and if it the clock thing doesn't actually pan out in a meaningful way) I'll just assume he has lost his sources, 'cause the digital clock thing being read as either 2 or 5 is a textbook case of hedging your bets, and this new tweet now is just piggybacking off of Pyoro's comments.Riddler Khu just posted something new, for what it is worth.

would it hurt Khu to be SLIGHTLY less vague tbh?Riddler Khu just posted something new, for what it is worth.

Personally, i think that Game Freak needs to stablish a AA <-->AAA cycle and release new generations with more space within them, so i agreen on reducing the scope. We’re already cutting mons from the roster anyway, I’m down to cut plenty more per game if that’s what’s necessary, personally.
But I do appreciate that it isn’t really that simple (unfortunately).
Still not a single solid leak, surprised by TPC this time
Khu has been teasing BW remakes for months though?I'm gonna be honest, if Khu doesn't put out something with actual meat on the bone before the Presents airs (and if it the clock thing doesn't actually pan out in a meaningful way) I'll just assume he has lost his sources, 'cause the digital clock thing being read as either 2 or 5 is a textbook case of hedging your bets, and this new tweet now is just piggybacking off of Pyoro's comments.
Idgaf either way as I prefer to go into the Presents and the games unspoiled so I don't actually follow his "riddles" for leaks, but I'm sure that many of the folks who keep up with the account would be more than happy to yeet it out of existence lmao
Teasing BW, sure. I'd like to see something that has more to it than the most surface level possible, which is what he has been teasing so far to my knowledge, such as Reshiram-Kyurem lookalikes, or Protag-N from Masters. You know, like actually teasing the look and structure of the game for one, who's developing it, that type of stuff.Khu has been teasing BW remakes for months though?
I honestly don't know why they just didn't copy/paste this style for the Diamond&Pearl remakes. This looks way better, just give us that:
It looks good compared with everything that came after, but its colors are a bit too soft, and being based on the same grid than the originals makes it look kinda boring, roads and routes shouldn't be perfect straight lines anymore.yeah idk why folks think this would look bad in a (insert gen here) remake bc its still the best looking one on Switch imo mainly thanks to how cohesive it all is

Colosseum is the most dissapointingly looking Pokémon game ever.
Yes, even more than SV.
There i said it.
Yeah, I love the Colosseum battle animations, but modern Pokemon needs way more animations for the Pokemon, including animations and idles in the wild, animations and idles in camp, etc. We’re already cutting mons from the roster anyway, I’m down to cut plenty more per game if that’s what’s necessary, personally.
But I do appreciate that it isn’t really that simple (unfortunately).
