Already posted in a different thread, but I believe this will be related to the previews we heard about for that day
To be honest if you liked Origami King but preferred the original Paper Mario it'd be weird if you didn't like Thousand-Year Door, it's very much a sequel to the original game, tho TOK still shares some DNA with them. Super and Color Splash are worth checking out but your mileage may vary (I like the former a lot but it has huge issues, really don't like the former), Sticker Star I'd really only check out if you're really curious (I personally loath it it lol).Origami king was my first experience with the series and I thought it was pretty good but I fell off/didn’t finish it and I really had no desire to return to it.
Through convincing (invited me to their NSO family plan) my friends got me to play Paper Mario 64 and I actually had a good time with it. Which is why I’m now looking forward to giving TTYD a chance because I’ve been told its similar to the first one.
Unfortunately never had the opportunity to try the others, hopefully Nintendo ports the rest for me to try them. It’s so jarring how different they are from each other though.
oh no, sorry to hear that. Also in general news my friend and I messed up setting up our European pre-order for TTYD that included the pop-up stage so I can't get that anymore, welp.
This is my favourite Paper Mario, which I don't think is an unpopular opinion. Actually my ranking would go something like this:
TTYD > SPM > 64 > TOK > CS > SS
This seems to be pretty similar to the common ranking, except swap SPM and 64.
Interesting little comparison imo
(In regards to rankings, SS has to be ranked last solely due to the fact that end of chapter bosses can only be killed by a specific sticker you may not have)
Normally I'd be all over this, but it's new artwork is gonna look real pretty when it's sitting on the shelf right next to my original (childhood) GameCube copyHave y'all seen this?
Just released.
anything new or QOL features?
cats are better anywaysFor changes, they're sticking with the catgirl boo from the international version, rather than the bunnygirl boo from the original JP version.

Downgrade. Yuji Horii will hear of this. For changes, they're sticking with the catgirl boo from the international version, rather than the bunnygirl boo from the original JP version.
is this all concept art from the original or remakes? Prime Remastered had bothConcept art gallery and music player unlocked by collecting star pieces.
The "Partner Ring" from those screenshots is a quick swap feature.
Battle theme seems to have multiple variations per area / chapter like Origami King now (can't post a screenshot for this one lol).
I don't remember the original having concept art that Nintendo showed.is this all concept art from the original or remakes? Prime Remastered had both
I believe it is both the OG and the remake.is this all concept art from the original or remakes? Prime Remastered had both
Why does Doopliss’ new fridge(?) have a Zonai motif? This video really drives home the visual improvements. Though the the environments are, regrettably, essentially 1:1, it is clear a lot of effort went into improving the overall visual package and production values through added details (like torn bits of wanted posters floating in the wind at Rogueport), improved camera work, and a lot of new animations.
A quick comparison, pulling a screenshot from Youtube (that is stretched a bit):
The partner ring is indeed a partner ring.
Yeah but ToK battle mechanics drag it WAAY down. I couldn't even finish the game because it got so tedious and boring. I loved everything else, unfortunately wasn't enough to finish itTOK would be the best of the bunch, if not for the boring battle mechanics. It's still better than all other games bar TTYD, though. Fight me
True and Zelda had 2nd Quest then Miyamoto made an RPG Zelda sidescroller that predates souls games/castlevania types and said he'd never do that again IIRCI really, really want a NG+ mode. It’s one of the things I’m always wanting from Nintendo these days, but they just don’t seem to believe in it anymore, which is ironic considering they were probably the very first to do it with SMB!
Either way, I’m looking forward to playing through this again a month from now. I can’t believe it has been 20 years.

I think Nintendo found success in simplicity, and they stray far away from stuff like this.
Presumably, as there already is an NPC running the Trouble Center that you can find if you go around the back of the building.New OC near the trouble center, perhaps a QoL update? Hopefully allows you to access troubles from more than one area
Early on, I purchased a badge to toggle between the new, fancy-sounding remade music and the GameCube original tunes.
New GameCube badge spotted, presumably for an option to switch soundtracks to the OG:
However, Nintendo did add a fair share of quality-of-life improvements that should make this an even more welcoming RPG for players of all ages. This includes adding a partner ring that allows you to change party members with a button click instead of a visit to the menu, a gameplay hint system from the wonderful Goombella you can access at any time, and new entries in the Sound and Art Galleries that you can unlock by collecting Shine Sprites and Star Pieces.
There will also be new NPCs to meet along the way that will help you on your journey. One of these will be Rogueport’s Battle Master, a Toad who will not only tell you battle secrets in hopes you will become a legendary fighter, but who will also let you jump into a danger-free battle to practice all your abilities and timing-based attacks. Considering you can cause more damage and prevent a world of pain with a well-timed button press, this can be a valuable resource to those who need it.
Ian Foomus, the “infamous information mouse,” has also appeared in Rogueport at the Trouble Center and will be there to get you back on track if you are having a tough time with any of Paper Mario’s sidequests, some of which can get a bit confusing and involved.
A new badge will also join the collection of the over 80 found in the original, and it just so happens to be a Nostalgic Tunes one that will let players experience the music of the GameCube title instead of the newly recreated tracks made specifically for the Switch version. If you are unfamiliar with how the badge system works, it’s not so unlike the one found in Super Mario Bros. Wonder where you can equip certain ones to give you advantages (or disadvantages!) in battle.
