N64 App Datamining.
Okay, initial datamining time. There are at least 38 N64 games planned for the service.

They're listed alphabetically, so you could try to guess which games fall into the gaps. I'm certain #37 is Majora's Mask and 14-16 are Mario Party 1-3, for example.

All the purchase options are grayed out and say "This cannot be purchased because someone in your family has an active family membership" both on the eShop and from the browser store.
You cannot upgrade as an individual in a family plan. The person who pays Nintendo for the plan will need to upgrade.

If they don't want to, your only alternative is to leave and pay for an individual plan (or find a new family group).

So if what I'm hearing is correct, the emulation is terrible? And Nintendo is charging 30 extra bucks for this? They can't be serious.
Uh? I'm actually seeing more people praising the emulator; it's actually the same of 3D All-Stars, which isn't bad at all

I'm hoping for improved framerate in Hyrule Field et al. but with the conflicting reports out there I'm not sure what to expect. Happy about 720p though.

If it's the same one NERD used for 3d all stars it should be good.

I know Mario 64 used an updated previously Japan only version for 3d all stars that has a bunch of bug fixes which neuters a lot of speed running methods. I wonder which version is on the app.

Played a couple rounds of Mario Kart and a couple minutes of Zelda and the emulation seems pretty much flawless to me. I’ve seen a streamer on Twitch who‘s playing Zelda which lagged a lot but that’s because there are two people from another region in his lobby even though he’s playing a single player game. So that’s more of a connection issue than an emulation issue.

So I learned tonight that our family plan is renewed through my wife's profile and not mine, weird. Problem solved, thanks!

Hmm I wonder if they'd actually rerelease Mario Party 1. I hope they do but I'll assume those sports are for Party 2 and 3, and Mario Golf.

The SM64 ROM on NSO is the vanilla NTSC version of the game; just looking at the copyright date on the title screen should be a giveaway.

So all the glitches speedrunners love to abuse are also present.

Chatted about it elsewhere but the base is likelt
  1. 1080
  2. Banjo kazooie
  3. Custom robo
  4. Custom Robo v2
  5. Diddy Kong racing
  6. DK64
The rest is messier of course outside of filling out the first party stuff

Megadrive/Genesis Datamining
Mega Drive proved to be even more interesting.

At least 52!

And if you needed more proof that at least one additional NSO platform is coming, look at the first digit of the game IDs. SNES was 2, N64 was 3, MD is 5. Essentially; Game Boy is coming.

I messed around with a few games on both the N64 and Genesis apps and the emulation seems great.
Yeah emulation isn't the problem, online multiplayer though...

Also watched the GameXplain livestream for a while and it was unplayable for him with 4 randos.

Quoting again. Here are my guesses.

1
1080 Snowboarding
2
Banjo Kazooie
3
Banjo Tooie
4
Bomberman 64

26

27
Pokemon Stadium 2
28

38
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

A couple of wishful thinking picks in there. Normally I wouldn't have put the Pokemon Stadium games in there but there is a lot of space between tennis and S&P so you can't rule it out. Also I was a little surprised at how fast the top filed up.

Online multiplayer is garbage as usual with Nintendo. When this fling company fix this. Ffs is 2021. Get on fking board already. So pathetic.

Honestly, this is definitely one of the best official N64 emulators. It's actually making these old games look fantastic on the TV. It's miles ahead the Wii and especially Wii U emulation.

Yeah, the N64 emulation quality is probably about where it typically is for Nintendo (though there's a weird texture issue that I really hope they patch soon because it's really distracting if you see it), but I was kind of hoping for a bit more than that. The continued refusal to emulate the N64 memory cards is just getting really baffling at this point now that they've included a game that needs it to save. Also, I get that mapping N64 controls is hard, but they don't seem to be tailoring it per game anymore, which leads to some definite weirdness (lots of ZL and R games, for example).

Side note: has anyone pixel counted the output? I'm guessing 720p because it looks fairly native in portable mode.

Please don’t quote me. Idk if an ignore button exists. You already made fun of me earlier. I don’t want to interact with you.
I'm sorry; that wasn't my intent, and I didn't consider my words could be taken that way. That's on me. I can edit out those posts if you like.

Wipeout 64? Wouldn't they have to negotiate with Sony for that?

I ordered the white OLED on 2 day shipping with Target last week but after it shipped, FedEx didn't have any update except "label created". The due date past and I called up Target to see what's going on. They said they weren't able to track it and neither was FedEx so they issued me a refund.

Lo and behold, FedEx just confirmed the package shipped. So I just got an OLED for free!

Edit: Wrong thread but still great news!

That probably cancels out Bomberman from my list. Not sure if we get both though.

The only other reasonable options I can find between Win Back and Yoshi's Story are Worms Armageddon and World Class Driver.

Unless Nintendo goes nuts and throws us a WWF game in there.......

Worms seems reasonably plausible to me. Although Wipeout 64 might actually convince me to actually pay for NSO...
