Oof, Mario Tennis doesn't have the Transfer Pak characters and courts unlocked. :cautious:

Hopefully if Game Boy support gets added, they'll add the GBC version so you can unlock them like normal.
Does the NSO version of Mario 64 still have the "gay bowser"?
It does! In both PAL and US format.

Quoting again. Here are my guesses.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

A couple of wishful thinking picks in there. Normally I wouldn't have put the Pokemon Stadium games in there but there is a lot of space between tennis and S&P so you can't rule it out. Also I was a little surprised at how fast the top filed up.
I feel we'd get excitebike over glover, surely Mario Golf too

So Era is complaining about the emulation being bad, seems fine to me, am I crazy? They’re saying it has awful input lag, but Mario 64 seems fine to me.
I noticed it immediately in the Mario Kart 64 menu, but when I compared Mario 64 across this and 3D All-Stars it felt fine. Jury's out for now, but I think it's likely not as great as the SNES emulator in this aspect.

Zelda also plays fine. Not sure what they’re on about… It does lag if you’re in an online session though.

The only other reasonable options I can find between Win Back and Yoshi's Story are Worms Armageddon and World Class Driver.

Unless Nintendo goes nuts and throws us a WWF game in there.......
It can also be the japanese only Wonder Proyect J2. My guess on N64 list:

11080 Snowboarding

3Banjo Tooie

I admire everyone holding out hope for Banjo-Tooie, but it's gonna be Blast Corps or something

I still feel weird playing Mario 64 but I think I have a weird obsession with the OG hardware IDK.

I've tried Yoshi, Dr, Tennis, and Kart and all work fine. Mario Kart alone looks much better than I could have expected

Mario 64 definitely has noticeable lag, Mario feels heavy in a way he shouldn't. But I adjusted pretty fast. I haven't played the other games.

I don’t have much experience with Mario Kart 64, but I just booted it up and did a race and didn’t notice any issues.

So first party wise remember that, Excitebike, 1080, and Wave race should all be on the table. Couple others too

Some of the videos I'm seeing are really bad. Thankfully I haven't purchased it yet. I really hope this isn't the case for everyone who purchased it so far

I'm certainly not gonna call it unplayable, just something which people sensitive to it may notice.

I don't have a good way of measuring it, but I can compare it to my cartridge on a CRT later.

As far as I can tell, if you are extremely sensitive to input lag or have regularly experienced these games various times through different emulators…its probably best to wait and see tests come through before jumping-in. If you are casually re-visiting these titles after many years, are playing these games for first time, or aren’t super invested in perfect emulation then this should be fine.

Yeah, like even as someone who's played Mario 64 to death it took maybe 10-15 minutes to adjust to the input lag. I'm willing to put up with that for portability and save states. But it's a legit gripe all the same.

I noticed a very small audio delay with N64 games, but it’s miles better than the audio delay in something like the recent Quake port on Switch everyone seems to love.

Mario is different where it's not so much lag as lack of functionality (with default controllers). As far as I can tell it's impossible to dive without running a fair distance first because the game can't register hard stick inputs. The buttons register perfectly, it's just a punch instead of a dive or whatever else.

Woke up at 3 am to pee and bought the new subscription. Now i'm just downloading the apps before taking my commute.

Reading the comments about the emulator, i'm a little wary, but pretty sure NERD Will have it's ear open and update It when necessary. Oh well, ill give it a taste test in a few minutes either way.

Just 1CC Sin and Punishment and had no issues with the game whatsoever. Way more responsive and vibrant than Wii U VC version.

Nintendo struggling to emulate the Controller Pak still is infuriating tho

don't forget The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest
I'm genuinely unsure if Nintendo even considers this to be a Nintendo 64 game. I believe the GameCube release was emulated, but they've never rereleased it as a standalone N64 title in any capacity.

Isn’t this because of a hardware limitation though? The controllers only have one slot, and that ‘slot’ is being used here for a Rumble Pak. I’m not sure if it’s possible to emulate two Pak slots on one controller.

It might, but they could very easily flag certain titles for controller pack support and others for rumble; it's not like every game supported rumble anyway. User choice should also be possible.

I vaguely remember there was Master Quest N64 rom which you could play N64 emulator on PC.

I'm not questioning that it is one at a technical level; that much is known.

I'm questioning whether Nintendo would release it in a catalog of Nintendo 64 games, as it was never officially released as such. It's not like the Wii VC or Wii U VC ever saw it either.

Yeah, I agree. If both isn’t possible there should definitely be an option to choose between them.

I have just been reminded how good Mario Tennis was on the N64. Whilst playing it portable, on a higher framerate then on my PAL N64 and with access to save states.

~€30 well spent frankly.

I think Star Fox 2 could be argued as a case where Nintendo could be convinced to look at it as something that can be added to the N64 NSO. They also have that “Special” tag version that they can bring-up again from the NES/SNES releases.

Mario 64 controls don't really work with the joycon stick from what I'm finding. You don't start running fast enough
ya. the joycon/switch lite control sticks don't work well with Mario 64, it doesn't guage acceleration accurately. I guess we'll see but I'd assume if you buy the controller it works fine.

I'm seeing what you're saying, but I just tested it on NSO, 3D All-Stars, and Wii VC, and the same thing happened on all three (and I tested with both Joy-Cons and the Pro Controller for the Switch versions). As far as I can tell this is the original behavior; but I'll admit I never played it on original hardware, so I can't be certain.

Edit: Joy-Cons that experience drift can also react more slowly. Try examining how your stick behaves in the calibration screen of the system settings; it might be going up slowly.

It was bad enough that I didn't bother to even get the first star, so I don't think I'm imagining it. It's possible but I just played Mario 64 a month or two ago.

See my edit; test your stick in the calibration screen. I've seen Joy-Cons just behave like that before.

Almost certainly not, admittedly.

Looking at it, you do have the choice to disable rumble. You'd think adding a controller pack option wouldn't be hard.

Oatmeal is datamining the emulator and there does seem to be support for both the Controller Pak and the Transfer Pak 👀.

I wonder if modders will have this working via homebrew faster than Nintendo lol

Gave it a quick test with Mario Tennis. Didn't notice any particularly bad input lag.

Now, there's something going on with the joycon dead zone, It was notable on MK64 too.

The Wii U N64 emulator had the same issue with the Gamepad

EDIT: By the way, the button mapping pressing X in the minus menu is highly welcome, even if it's system wide

Turns out my remaining days with my current family plan amount to less than 15 USD worth of discount.

This pretty much confirms my decision to sit this one out.

Never even heard of WinBack until finding it in the N64 and the first thing that popped into my head when I started the tutorial is holy crap this is RE4 controls. I dunno how I haven’t heard of this game before
