StarTopic Kyle Bosman |ST| Crucially Imperative

Thanks to whoever posted the E3/Zelda Gameplay video in the Zelda thread. I loved The Final Bosman but mostly lost track of what Kyle was up to after GT.

It’s been awesome catching up on some of these. I didn’t realize how much I missed Kyle’s takes. It is a bit different watching him now, though. It’s both feels the “same” and “off” at the same time. Either way, it’s been enjoyable and I’m glad this thread exists!

This episode sounds super relevant to my interests. Still can’t get over Kyle’s buzz cut.
I’m actually ok with the cut. It’s my dad’s aviator-style bifocals from 30 years ago that throw me off. 😆

I was most interested in Kyle's take on the Q Lite, and I agree with his assessment of the device: presumably it'll do Remote Play better than any of the currently available options. He makes an interesting additional input that Q Lite is supposed to synergize with Sony's planned GaaS games-- it will indeed be easier to "log in for your dailies" with a portable gadget.

From the observation that Tom Henderson was fed Sony talking points, to the eternal "What do I deserve to have?" question, between selling Sony's GaaSdeck with hardcore pornography and finding a video game starring Brandon Jones in his Indiana Jones cosplay, this was the most astute Delayed Input episode in a while, maybe since ever.

Apologies: No Delayed Input This Week

"I had a pretty wild night at the emergency room tonight. Over the evening I got this unending fit of hiccups, and you think, "do I go to the hospital? This is just a weird thing." But I was still hiccuping after a few hours and really that was more irritating than anything. The nurses checking me in were like "ooh this is a fun one!" Anyway we don't have to get into my medical business but I guess an irritated diaphragm can just make you hiccup non-stop.
So, sadly I'm just calling it for this week. I never thought I'd delay a Delayed Input for hiccups yet here we are. I'll be back next week, and hey I've got the makings of a half-good "botched Activision Blizzard acquisition" script on hand if nothing big happens in the next seven days. See you then!"

Absolutely based how Kyle explains his sports metaphor with an even more impenetrable One Piece metaphor.

That episode was great. And about the One Piece metaphor "I wrote that last week", if you know you know lmao

i used this opportunity to watch the MK1 trailer. now i am not the type of person who is into MK or ultra-violent games in general. i played elden ring with blood turned off for goodness sake. so believe me when i say, that trailer almost made me physically sick, and i will never play this game.

that said, i agree with kyle’s takes here. if i was a fan of this franchise, that trailer would have done absolutely nothing for me. bad job WB.

As a fan of MK, the trailer was only really useful for setting the tone of the new story. There was more info about the game in the q&a then in that cg trailer.

Kyle has been on a roll lately. Maybe the best run of quality episodes since Delayed Input started.

I wanted to say that before I watch the current one in case it's not true afterwards.

That was neat. The streak continues.

Episode could have just been Kyle's observation about Sony having a copypasta for buying unproven GaaS studios and I'd have left satisfied.

Hot streak broken.

I thought pointing out the comical music everyone else just accepts as ordinary for these presentations would single-handedly continue Delayed Input's run of excellence, but it wasn't quite enough to redeem Kyle later being so preoccupied with turning his own personal priorities into objective criteria he didn't for a second stop and consider...

not all the arms of an Octopus are visible at the same time all the time.

Bosman only just rewatched the E3 2013 Nintendo Direct where he learned how wrong he was for originally underselling Tropical Freeze, yet here he goes again with the anti-2D-bias.

Him being underwhelmed by Metroid Dread also felt anti-2D to me, cause he even admitted it was a great game, but still had this attitude of it just being an appetizer for Prime 4.

Or the anti-isometric prejudice also evident in this episode.

(He's right on that one, though. Super Mario RPG Remake in a near parody of Final Fantasy VII Remake would be marvelous.)

what is the difference between “anti 2d bias” and a guy having an opinion

Thanks to Kyle's coverage of Just Dance esports and in honor of that glorious punchline, I vow to never again bring forth an argument, even as part of an intellectual exercise, that video games could be at the Olympics.

Watched a few of his videos for the first time and these are my two cents:

He's a funny character but he's basically just like an extreme take web poster and it's not often particularly good takes.

Hard for me to care about gaming personalities unless they're an integral part of the industry like developers ect.

Delayed Input could use a "Kyle Bosman is a funny character with often not particularly good takes and not an integral part of the industry" disclaimer at the start of every episode.

Ffxvi is definitely the first AAA game in a long time where I am skippin those cutscenes. For sure. I’ll watch the big prestige ones that actually have proper direction and major story relevance, but after a few hours I’m skipping the in between major plot stuff too. Not just side quest stuff.

This episode of Kyle grappling with the fact he has dumb taste in video game stories is a good follow-up to the episode where he pretends it was Marvel Snap that made him toxic. I wonder what will complete the self-denial trilogy.

Man, Venom looks so cool in the trailer. Love my goopy parasite monster.

But I have to disagree with Kyle here, I love my camera-head robots more than regular human faces. No offense to humans. Given that, I'm surprised he picked Armored Core 6 over Spider-Man 2, which I thought would be more his style.

Regardless, both are looking good. Oh sooo good.

I knew he was gonna diss Kong haha

Saw this thread bumped on a Thursday and got confused that we got Undelayed Input for once. Turns out it's a different show, will check it out for sure

Last week's show was pretty fascinating watching Bosman paddle in the deep waters of a discussion about Barbie and women-led video games with people who've thought longer and harder about those topics than anyone he has had on a podcast before.

I’m a bit intrigued by this game and have some friends getting it.
