If anything, it kind of terrifies me how much accumulation of wealth these fuckers get whilst being so unstable and crazy. They literally have a lot of power because of their wealth and can manipulate the world for their bidding (in this case, control of one of the most powerful communication tools in the world via Twitter), no matter what the cost is. Too much power, one might argue. Crazy capitalism in full force.

It's because of the stuff that's come out in recent interviews that he was deliberately blocking Ukrainian military internet during specific points in their defense against Russia, while in contact with Russian state officials regarding business deals and such. And studies showing that changes he made at Twitter drastically increased the amount of Russian propaganda finding its way west.

Basically people are calling him out for being either a stooge or a straight-up Russian asset.

Feels like "The only way to stamp out bots" is Elon's version of "Just think about the children!" when it comes to basically every privacy discussion.

Yet, somehow I've only had to deal with bots after he took over.
 
Everyone should have to pay one famicoin a day to be able to keep using famiboards.

It's the only way to combat the machine bots.

As a pleb without a Twitter account the experience is already miserable anyways. Assuming you don't get prompted to create an account, trying to view any timeline shows posts out of order and nothing recent. Linked embeds still work thank <deity>.

It's like the went out of their way to make the site as unusable as possible if you're standing outside the gates.
 
Making Twitter pay to post feels like the inevitable endgame, since he's gotta try and wring some revenue out of it somehow and he doesn't have any good options. This isn't a good option either, but hey, maybe most of the userbase noping out will reduce operating costs?

If Bluesky codes are still available I wouldn't mind one, but I'm not really a dedicated poster or anything so might be better to give it to more active people.

I gave up Twitter years ago, so I'm not sure I need a replacement, but is Bluesky worth a look? I wouldn't want to waste an invitation and then never post.

This site has gotten so fucking toxic and bad i’m at the point i’d rather have the fucking saudi investor who backed elon in charge

But seriously, a few weeks ago i reported an account who literally serves no other purpose but to call a trans mutual a pedo, after he was already reported, suspended and successfully appealed somehow, and despite reporting five posts one by one (since you no longer can bulk report, real nice) i get the generic “no violations found”.

The wacko has made 17K tweets literally dedicated to deadnaming. How the fuck is that not a violation. If said mutual hadnt fled the internet due to harassment, i’m pretty sure that would even be lawsuit worthy. I know for a fact as shit as old twitter was such extreme harassment would have led to a suspension that sticks. Now they literally dont care about LGBT folk but heaven forbid you call a nazi a loser.
