As much as We Were Dead is unfortunately very inconsistent this is like, possibly their best song of all time. The buildup, the strings, the existentialism...

I wish I could sell you on this song since it first popped up in my Spotify two years ago. Alternative pop/rock indie, a chill but driven guitar melody, the invocation of driving with the windows down and the wind whipping your hair around, surprise sax solo to close out the song, it's just a masterclass in composition. Lyrics bring about the imagery of sentimentality for a neighbourhood or location, and it's a fine addition to any roadtrip playlist

I keep posting non-songs in the songs thread. I am a menace to Famiboards and must be stopped.

 

Always liked this song yet was kind of bothered by the limpness of the original compared to other contemporary rock songs. This version isn't perfect, but there's definitely more life in the arrangement. It may be a little overdone actually, and I miss the more grounded little nuances of Carole King's vocal performance, but the timpani was an inspired addition.

It’s true that Tapestry is a pretty lo-fi recording, but I’ll always love Carole’s down-to-earth performance.

This one’s really fun, though.

My girlfriend shared with me her recent obsession with Chappell Roan and that obsession has spread. I've listened to the entirety of Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess three times since last night.
