Another week, another Weekly Question! And boy, what a week we got coming up! Super Mario Bros. Wonder comes out in just a few days! But it's one game in a stacked month. Spider-Man 2 comes out the same day, we got a new 2D Sonic releasing on Tuesday, and lots more before and after them. What's your most anticipated game of the month?

If you have to ask me what my answer to that question is, you clearly don't know me well enough.
Mario obviously. This is going to be so much fun.

But very hyped for Spider-Man 2 even if by the middle of Miles Morales I started to get tired of the formula already, but hopefully the new gameplay elements and the story will be able to keep me entertained to do the 100% (Insomniac games are always some of the easiest platinum trophies to get, so I aim for the 100%)

A good Mysterio (as he's heavily teased in some trailers), some interesting unannounced side villains, hopefully Black Cat is back, a fun Venom fight (maybe even playable ?), a good climax with hopefully Kraven as the final boss and not Venom (I just hope they get very quickly over "Venom wants to kill Spider-Man" as that's not my favorite part of this character, and Kraven definitely can stand on its own as the real main villain), and some more Green Goblin tease for next game (please have a sick and scary Goblin costume and not some shitty green and purple military jump suit) should be enough to have me happy.

If I didn't royally suck at platformers, I would buy and play Wonder. I love how weird it looks, but the only Mario platformer I ever truly enjoyed was Odyssey, and a lot of that came down to it not really being much of a platformer to begin with.

Actually, hold the fucking press! You're telling me they have easy mode for platforming noobs like me?

Definitely Wonder! I'm not a Sonic or Spider-Man guy, so it's the clear winner. Actually a lot of the bigger games this fall aren't really my thing, so it'll be Wonder this week and then waiting for Mario RPG and P5Tactica in November.

Hmm...Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is $30 on Amazon. Tempted...but not really sure at this point.
I'd say wait for a 20$ sale. It's a very good game, no doubt about it, but there's nothing particularly innovative or thoughtful about it, it's just good classic fun.

ngl, I've been waiting to see if this happens, especially as all the people having played demos and advance copies are gushing about it. 😅
Yep, though want to say again I don't want him to get dogpiled or doxxed or whatever, just being held accountable for what he said. That is something that should happen more often, especially online: people being held accountable.

Mario Wonder and Wario Ware are the two games I will buy until the end of the year. Crazy Mario is coming out on Friday

Last three games im going to buy this year

Super Mario Wonder
Super Mario RPG
Like A Dragon Gaiden: TMWEHN

I was gonna buy SMRPG anyway, because realistically I was never going to say no to a classic RPG that is also rather bite-sized for its genre.

But am I really going to buy two (2) Mario games within the span of four weeks now?

  7. A Friend in Deed
  8. Double Exposure
  9. Death Lends a Hand
  10. Identity Crisis
  11. Candidate for a Crime
  12. Forgotten Lady
  13. An Exercise in Fatality
  14. Negative Reaction
  15. Swan Song
  16. Double Shock
  17. Etude in Black
  18. Troubled Waters
  19. Lady in Waiting
  20. Blueprint for Murder

  22. Lovely But Lethal
  23. Publish or Perish
  24. A Matter of Honor
  25. Requiem for a Falling Star
  26. The Most Dangerous Match
  27. The Most Crucial Game

I also corrected the placement of the Dick Van Dyke and subliminal cuts episodes since I mixed up their titles

I love Spider Man 1, it's the best superhero game ever, but I'm reaaaally burned out on the formula, so nope

Sonic and Mario I'm gonna wait and see, but I'm interested! :alien: ...I have more faith in Mario to appeal to me than Sonic, though. Sonic gave it to me with Frontier ngl.

So I guess my most anticipated game is... Mario kinda

has anyone here played parappa remastered? Stage 4 seems impossible rn, and I see other people have had problems but any of you have expereince with this?

If I had a PS5, I might say Spider-Man 2, but first I need to get a PS5 and play Miles Morales. I also deprioritize spending on non-Nintendo platforms (since I buy a lot on Nintendo hardware), so I'd wait for a decent sale before picking it up. Lastly, I don't like corrupted hero storylines, so the Symbiote-affected Peter narrative and gameplay have decreased my interest.

Because of all that, the answer becomes Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a game I'll probably enjoy but how much is TBD. 3D Mario has historically been my preference, so Wonder doesn't generate a ton of excitement for me, even if it does look great.

When the month started, I was probably most anticipating Detective Pikachu Returns. I would give that a 6.5 or 7, and I think that's about what I expected from it. I guess that gives a sense of how this October is for me in terms of new games.

I've never ever finished regular Super Mario World (I'm a 3 person) so I'm trying to do that before Wonder launches and I'm having a good time. Funnily enough there is weird stuff in this game like the green death orbs and the multiplying Chargin' Chucks that Wonder is trying to do again.

There's this tinge of surrealism that permeates Super Mario World, yeah. It's subtle but it's there. And just some strange gameplay things that only pop up once, like the light switch in Bowser's Castle. Overall though playing the Wonder demo reminded me a lot of SMW, so it seems intentional to me.

don't mind me, just sitting around thinking about how hard the choir and drums hit in Millick Meadows

Sorry to do this to you pal, but my most anticipated game this month (and the rest of the year) is Spider-Man 2.

Thinking of buying Japanese eShop credit just to get that damn watermelon game (I haven't played anything else than its mobile version this weekend).

Any other Japan exclusive games worth picking up? Preferrably games with an English translation or very little text.
where did you go to get this and how much is the game

cause i too want to play the silly watermelon game

The single level gimmick thing has been around in most 2D Mario games at least since World. It’s part of the series identity at this point to slowly introduce new ideas at the start of the stage and ramp up the difficulty as it goes.
