Reading an interesting Game of the Year list and was reminded of how much fun I'd had with Bowser's Fury. I wish we saw more stuff like that from EPD and other Nintendo studios - preferably available as lower cost, stand alone titles rather than just available as expansions to a port.

I understand why they do it but it's annoying that an entirely separate mode like Bowser's Fury which has barely any relation to 3D World cannot also be bought as a standalone game. They've done it in the past with Star Fox Zero and Guard on Wii U and they give you the option to buy the Bayonetta games either as bundle or separately so the only reason why they don't do it with BF is money.
 
Great OP, will check out the playlists... Lord knows I've discovered some great music courtesy of the Xmas tunes thread over at The Roost.

I'm still waiting to hear back from escalations team regarding my refund for accidental non-English game purchase. Will chase if not heard anything tomorrow.

I've conquered Dark World once more. 20 hearts, all items, etc. The game (A Link to the Past) gets easier and easier each time I run through it (I actually didn't get hit by Ganon once, but not bragging) but I still spent a good chunk of time having a blast and enjoying Koji Kondo's sweet music.

I'm now currently chilling late in the evening to an interesting collectathon/art-platformer/edutainment title called Type:Rider. Highly recommended. One for handheld or sitting close to a monitor as text is small (pet peeve but worth persevering with).

Also started Demon's Crest on SNES (NSO) this morning as still on a retro kick. Loving it so far. Definitely play on pixel perfect mode as game looks oddly stretched otherwise. And Google for a manual. These games really ought to have some kind of manual of scans included. Most of the lore and explanations of what items actually do are in the manuals.

Have a lovely Wednesday all. Got a long shift ahead and can't wait to get back home already!

I hope we'll see prime Remaster soon, it'd be good for Retro to finally release a new game.
They're hiring a lot since a few years it's good sign for the future.

I rolled credits on Bowserโ€™s Fury last night, then went back in for another ten cat shines. I think thatโ€™s where Iโ€™m gonna call it quits. I really donโ€™t like the Boswer mechanic. Itโ€™s the central idea of the game, and I think it ruins it for me. There were times early on when it wasnโ€™t a big deal, but as I got closer to the end he started showing up way too often. There was a time where he showed up, no joke, four times in a row. Immediately one after the other. And thatโ€™s just not fun. The Bowser fury attacks suck.

I gotta admit that Iโ€™m also not a big fan of the open world concept for Mario, at least the way Bowserโ€™s a fury does it. I know thatโ€™s not a popular opinion. But for me it made it feel like each little section had to necessarily be a lot smaller than a typical Mario level. It made everything feel much less significant than if it werenโ€™t open world.

There were things that I enjoyed, like the inventory system and Bowser Jr. But overall, Iโ€™m coming away feeling a bit let down by this little side game.

oh believe me I had more horse leftovers than IKEA

but I wanted to tell a very clear and funny story with the song titles, including punchlines (the format break at Band of Horses + the twist at the end) โ€“ AND have it all flow really well sonically. I think I accomplished that!

Edit: I have confirmed that literally this song is in the b-sides pile!

Iโ€™m kind of bouncing between games right now since I beat Blue Reflection Second Light and itโ€™s funny Mario and Luigi were brought up since I just started Paper Jam. Itโ€™s the last Mario RPG I havenโ€™t played after beating both Sticker Star and Dream Team earlier this year. I barely got Paper Mario on my team and just claimed the dash socks and so far so good! Might play more tomorrow.
