Rumour Switch 2 devkits information from Im A Hero Too - backward compatibility, camera sensor, new cartridge format, Atlus/Sega and Square support

it's not even a difficult task. FF7R looks great, but it's not the most stressful UE4 game out there
Difficult task? I dont think it has to be. Idk, as long as it's a handheld as powerful as the ps4/pro then people will be happy

Sega / Atlus being on board early is really the only plausible explanation I'll accept for no P3R / Metaphor on Switch announcements yet. Probably both confirmed whenever the console is revealed.
Even if this isn't true, half the reason I want the new console to just be revealed already is so that we don't have to do this stupid song and dance with new games. It's only going to get worse the longer before the console is revealed with new games being like "Oh it's not on Switch... weird... but maybe it's on Switch 2?" and we just have no idea one way or another even if it seems suspicious

Super mario sunshine is really good.
It has a lot of stupid flaws (some blue coins being exclusive in some missions, too many blue coins in generals, linear and bad progression system, too many red coins padding shine, 2 really bad bonus stage, yoshi sucks, only 7 main levels with too many shines, Corona mountain is bad) but I've also beaten the game 100% 5 times, the core gameplay and the level design is amazing and it has an amazing atmosphere.
It's a 3d Mario game in the end, all 3d Mario are amazing.

Sunshine is a game with a top-notch atmosphere, Mario controls great and it has amazing gameplay concepts.

Unfortunately, it is literally an unfinished game. The way the concepts are actually implemented often leaves a lot to be desired, everything outside Mario's core action is broken (see the pachinko or the boat levels) and the game is full of recycled content.

The fact that Splatoon and TotK took so many concepts from Sunshine is a testament that in another timeline, with more development time, we could have had a masterpiece. Alas in this timeline, the game is what it is. But we can appreciate its potential and that handful of missions that were polished.

Not sure what causes a ban, but assuming fake claims being made… that was fun for a minute?

We need some real leaks. Can somebody please confirm the camera’s existence, where it’s going to be placed, and what it’s used for ta
If you get into the leaks subreddit you will see that there are accounts that post false or invented leaks and they wasnt banned.

Normally, due to previous cases, when this happens and so quickly it is usually by the ninjas.

I think it's telling that Sunshine is the only mainline Mario game so far so to really give the the impression that it was rushed to market.

Hopefully it will remain the outlier on that front. In a way, it adds to the charm.

It was a shame that 3D All Stars didn't even attempt to smooth over some of the roughest edges.

Because it’s Nintendo 🙃
Yeah, the same Nintendo that kept GC controller compatibility since the Wii. There isn't a good reason to suddenly make the USB adapter stop working. They could have done that with the Switch.

Miyamoto himself admitted that they should have designed the game differently (the FLUD-less stages shouldn't have been mandatory) and apologized before the game was even out.

I think Nintendo learned from Sunshine and Wind Waker never to rush a mainline Mario or Zelda game. They did that out of desperation during the GameCube era, but in the end, they didn't help the console and only risked damaging their most precious brands.

I like mario sunshine

The only people who don't like Sunshine are those who simply just aren't good at Sunshine.

The Switch 2 will be a better console than Switch simply because it will have no version of Mario Sunshine of its own

that's the expectation. since the PS4 runs at 1080p, there's a good deal of wiggle room if SE wants to take it

Sunshine has some jank parts but I think it's the best Mario had ever controlled. Even Odyssey which is a bit too stiff imo. And the vibes of Delfino are immaculate.

Wait this is a Switch 2 thread?

Is there any legitimacy to this information?
From what I could find, I Am Hero Too's main claim to fame was leaking the Persona 3 remake and the Persona ports over on resetera. They apparently contacted a reddit moderator to verify their legitimacy and that they were the same person from resetera. And that's about as much as I could find.

I'm finding myself skeptical of their more out-there claims like a Final Fantasy X-3 coming sometime after 2026. It's also a little funny they know about SE projects that are years away but have no Dragon Quest info.

I can't imagine a Switch 2 would be closer to the PS5 than PS4 power-wise, unless I'm misinterpreting what they mean by the supposed FF7R port looking closer to the PS5 version?

The PS5 version of FF7R runs at 4K, has texture improvements, and some lighting and fog changes, but is not a complete visual overhaul of the PS4 version. The Switch 2 does not need to be as powerful as a PS5 to look close to this, just needs to run the PS4 version with similar improvements, which can be accomplished with the leaked chipset.

Thanks for that, that makes a bit more sense now. Is there somewhere where I can read up about the chipset/specs the Switch 2 might be using?

There are some posts, 1, 2, 3, I would recommend reading to set expectations. The hardware thread OP has a summary of all leaks and rumors, with the specific leaked chipset details in a Google Doc.

I can easily imagine a Switch 2 version looking at the very least, better than the PS4 Pro version, which maxes out at 2880 x 1620. Switch 2 wouldn't need to expend GPU resources on trying to hit that higher resolution target thanks to DLSS, so it has enough GPU power left over to inherit the visual improvements from Intergrade.

Mario Sunshine hate on a random thread? My kinda party! Tbh though Mario Sunshine isn't a bad game - the difficulty spikes and jank are just very un-Mario. At least to me. We can move onto another bad take if we want though: Mario Galaxy 2 is worse in my opinion.

Anyways, has there ever been a leak as big as this that comes from a 3rd party developer source? I can hardly believe someone knows this much about the "Switch 2" when they don't have sources inside Nintendo + sources inside Nintendo haven't really said much yet. At least not about a camera. I might be wildly off tho since I'm not fully caught up.

Don’t. Trust me.

If you’re an insider and telling us this all is bunk, then spit it out. People have explained how there’s a way to interpret what’s being said that’s feasible. Nobody thinks we’re getting a portable PS5.

Jokes on them, we're actually getting a portable PS6.

;)

From what I understand the ps5 version of this game pretty much looks like the ps4 version. So while it's good that it looks like that, people shouldn't take it as a general comparison to ps5.

I really dislike the gameplay setup to start with. You need to kill parana plants the whole time and cleaning dirt which blocks the progress. Its the slowest game in terms of progress. With that i dont mean you cant gain speed with the abilities, its just the mechanics that destroy the game in the first place. Even with dual analog, the issue remains the same.

Second, the world environment doesnt feel mario at all. Not going to spoil things here.

The music is the worst one for any mario 3d game. Maybe bowser fury would be lower than this game.

There are other flaws aswell, but those are the biggest ones.

That doesnt mean that its a bad game. Its just bad in terms of mario standards.

Why not?
Why wouldn't I want Nintendo games with the fidelity of Ratchet and Clank?

The statement only implies it runs a PS4 game closer to its PS5 remaster’s state than the original, not that it’s going to give us R&C: Rift Apart fidelity.

That said, it’s very much worth being excited about.

Aha, of course, now I get you.
Don't get me wrong, I know it won't match a PS5 but getting anywhere remotely close will be fantastic with nintendo's fantastic artists.

I would not rule out the possibility that part of the information is correct, although there may be some specific information that could be wrong (either because of the game of the phone or because the source has made a mistake in something specific).
