But Cynthia is always a joy for the soul. Even when she crushes your Pokemon in a battle. ^^

Seeing people post about taking breaks from gaming reminds me that reviewing games for websites is a stressful job. Us as consumers, we have the liberty to turn off a game when it isn't jiving with us, but these reviewers must play the heck out of the game and make sure they have the review ready on time. As much as I love gaming, and I'm sure many of you guys do too, I'd reckon reviewing games isn't always a fun job.

I did it for over ten years. You can find games fun and pleasant to discuss, but it's a slog to rush playing, writing, and editing.

Gaming isn't unique in how little space it allows critics to consume and critique its products, but at least other forms of media don't take dozens of hours to complete. The time-investment is draining.

ALSO - making sure you all see this.

Happy black Friday, what is everyone buying today?

Just saw your "#TeamEldenRingMostAnticipatedGameOf2022" and... yes. YES 1000x times over.

Picked up some magazine subscriptions and NEO: TWEWY for Black Friday. I'm happy with that haul.

Going to my local hobby store to hopefully buy some miniatures (Warhammer and the like), board games, or card games on discount.

Been eyeing that reissued Dune board game for a long while now.

Being a video game reviewer sounds like the worst way to do gaming. You can't just enjoy the game, you've got to smash it out in record time. Games that might be great when consumed at an appropriate pace can such when you're having to gorge on them.

At least a movie reviewer consumes a movie in the same way as the reader.

I have not seen anything I'm super interested in in terms of games so my wallet is safe for now.

Wanted some new Sonos room speakers to add to the flat but sadly I haven't seen them on sale anywhere.

Looking forward to finally trying the Danganronpa series. I own a couple of them on PC, but these types of games truly shine on a handheld for me.

Just bought two more SN30 Pro (didn’t like the Pro+ or Pro2) to prepare the Mario Party Superstar Sessions during Christmas vacation.

Yeah a processing issue in my ears (or brain) was my worry, but if I flip the headphones around on my head, the heavy bass I'm hearing on the right moves to the left. So that was kinda a relief but doesn't help solve what's going on.
I mostly listen to music on YouTube (I've only recently discovered Spotify, don't judge), but I also notice this happening on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, and also my Switch. The overworld music in DQXI is doing it pretty bad, for instance. I have everything (tv, consoles, lappy) set to regular-ass stereo, so I don't think that Dolby enhancement stuff is getting in the way.
It's just weird and one of those things that once I noticed I couldn't un-notice. The thing you said about the drum kit arrangement is a comfort, though. Hearing high hats on the left was making me worry I had lost high-frequency hearing in my right, making the right sound lower. But again, if that were the case then flipping the headphones or AV cables wouldn'tve seen the lows/highs switching (as they should).
Well, it's Black Friday in two hours, maybe I need the home theater equivalent of a full wardrobe replacement. 😛
Hmmm… wired or Bluetooth? Wired could be a damaged ring in your port. Bluetooth, though? No clue.

I will probably just look for lightning deals on obscure games in my Amazon wishlist (or price errors) and not do much of anything else. Really have not desire to go in a physical store. I can say I will be taking part in Nook Friday shopping though.

The Simpsons arcade game for arcade
TMNT Turtles in Time for 2D
Goldeneye 007 for 3D

So many great memories with all of these games at the time of release.
YES. Simpsons and Turtles in Time were my go-to games at the arcade.

Two are wired, one is RF via a dock plugged into RCA (that's the one I could swap the wires on).

I listen to one (1) Japan City Pop Playlist on Spotify and then my release radar this week hits me with like five different songs

To specify, this is the very opposite of complaining. I fucking LOVE when RR hits me with that good ish

Just gonna make it my mission to get my Famicomrades into IDLES

I feel summoned, and ready to dive into these videos

Any Spotfiy City Pop playlsit is going to be at least a little flawed because there are a lot classics that aren't on there. Like, at least here in Canada, Spotify has no classic Tatsuro Yamashita at all. How can any City Pop playlist be complete without him?

You know, I did find that extremely odd too. Tangentially related, but also no Electric Samurai/Isao Tomita either in Canada. Why must we be denied such musical treasures?

They only added Eiichi Ohtaki's music (at least his incredible album A Long Vacation) literally earlier this year. Give that one a listen if you haven't yet!

So I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but I wanted to see if my plot guesses were correct based on secondhand knowledge.

There appears to be a weeb who is confused about his place in the world and a bit clueless regarding the love of another character. He weebs for a while, only to discover an overtly sexualized character who is also a magical weapon. He remain clueless about the affection of the first character while displaying plot-related affection to the sword-sexualized hybrid weeb.

There are more sword-sexualized hybrid weebs.

They fight mechons who reappear from the first game.

There is a late-game twist that connects the game to Xenoblade Chronicles.

At game's end, he remains a weeb except he is now powerful. The DLC hints at more hybrid weebs.

... I feel strangely confident despite being ignorant of the entire game.

EDIT: I just looked up the definition of weeb. What in the world.... it's a 4Chan thing? Ugh. Time to stop using it.

Some of those are correct, some of those are not, but I'm not saying which 😉

Ok you're fairly wrong about most things but depending on what "sword serialized half weeb" refers to surprisingly right about at least one

Choosing to believe I'm wrong about the game's connection to XC 1 and everything else is correct.

You got the plot and lore wrong my dude, that means you now have to buy it with the DLC and sink 80 hours to then come here and explain to us what you got wrong.

I'm sorry, I don't make the rules.

Actually I just realized there totally is a weeb character in Xenoblade 2 but it's not Rex, it's the fuckin nopon
