Kirby or Splatoon 3 in March would make me an extremely happy cappy.

Barring a surprise new game dropped before then, it looks like these are the next two Switch games I'll be buying, so it'd be nice if I don't have to wait 6 months or more for them.
I think it's gonna be Kirby in March and Splatoon in June or July.

When Splatoon 3 was announced in February I thought it would be the big march title so they would have another 10m+ seller as the march game like BotW, ACNH and MHR. But summer is the Splatoon sweet spot and they probably will just have Kirby as the march title. I think it'll be quite big too, if marketed well this new 3D game can break 5m.

Make sure to save often or you're guaranteed to get insta-killed right after you accomplish something important
No joke. Another good rule is "never make your Nahobino weak to light or dark". Like, ever. I swear the AI gets instakill to work at least 2-3 times more often than it works for you

We should start with the predictions then.

Here's a wild guess: Square will ditch the cloud versions of KH1.5+2.5 and announce that they'll bring them natively.

And announcement of Final Fantasy Tactics & Tactics Ogre Remastered versions.

And Dragon Quest 3 remake dated for September.

And Final Fantasy IX remake with no target date.

And Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary collection.

This is gonna be a s Square mega show isn't it.
A Final Fantasy mega show already happened with that Direct that announced the PS1 games and chronicles remaster for Switch. I don't think it's that much of a wild dream. All of the stuff listed can happen. But Dragon Quest 3 remake is the HD 2D one? Or is there another thing announced? Is it announced for Switch?
I think a Tomb Raider collection HAS to happen sometime. Maybe they have an anniversary collection with the classic games remastered but the reboot trilogy is not that hard to happen. It can be done. TR is a PS360 game, Rise has an Xbox 360 version and Shadow can be downported too.
Eh, I wouldn't bet on the cloud versions being ditched in favor of native releases tbh... But seeing the amount of hate the announcement for maybe they changed their minds and started working on it. I would love if they made a KH III native downport too but I think that's too much to ask. I think FF XV and heck maybe even XVI are pretty safe bet as a Dane port tho.
I'm thinking of when they'll finally show Dragon Quest XII. Maybe they announce it at Nintendo's E3 like XI S and Hero for Smash.

Now what would really make a Square heavy Direct interesting for me are the impossible duo: Chrono Break and Super Mario RPG 2. Yeah, probably both are never happening, but those are surely the game announcements that would be the most hype ever.

The good thing with this year is given how Nintendo titles are set up, it is just very likely than the Direct will occur in February rather than Jan/March because of :
  • Arceus in Late January
  • Triangle Startegy in early March which should get its second demo
  • Need to date Kirby and AW which are still officially slated for Spring and 2022.
I won't be waiting like a foot for a January direct it seems.
Yeah, a Feb direct makes sense. Jan could still happen, but we'll still most likely get three direct anyway next year, so whenever they are doesn't really matter all that much XD

I'm starting to think the casual stinker is tomodachi 3

"Everybody's Tomodachi" or variant even sounds like a good title, and horse people wouldn't be out of place in such a surreal game. and as fun and weird as they are, it's definitely a shallow series
I've been thinking of that and Animal Crossing amiibo Festival ever since Emily told us about the casual stinker. Are there horses as villagers in any AC? I know there's a character that's an alpaca or llama but don't remember horses. A Tomodachi game where you have riding horses as activities would sure align with the "😐" reactions. The only other possibility outside of these two in my mind is 3-4 Switch with some weird horse mini game.

"You see that Tennis Court? You can jog there."
you don't understand, I want this more than anything in the world

and MiiTA wouldn't even need any actual campaign, just being like GTA Online but you drive to fucking Wii Sports would be the greatest video game ever conceived

and you would have to take the fucking ferry (or maybe steal a boat) to golf, how sick is that

And people will be disappointed that XVI still doesn’t have a release date
People that actually expected FF XVI to have a really short reveal-release cycle are just like me in 2019 being super secure in BotW releasing in holiday 2020- early 2021.

I feel very strongly that the hinted game isn't related to 1-2 Switch because "horse person" at least to me implies that it's character based. While @MondoMega is right about Tomodachi's sales, I still can see it as a shallow sequel that most on an enthusiast forum will react coolly towards

I keep waiting for an insider to come on here and say “yeah I’ve heard they’re making a Wii Sports Resort for Switch”
I think the Wii series is super loved by NoA people tbh so I don't believe it would be it.
Tomodachi Life is one of the best selling 3DS games too so maybe it's not that either. Animal Crossing amiibo Festival 2 is more than ever becoming a reality.

Horses are a species of regular villagers in AC. It feels like a weird thing to signal out, but that could be interntional on Emily's part.

I think Raccoon does have a point about it being something character-based rather than starring avatars like Miis; though I have other reasons for ruling out Tomodachi that trump it.

I enjoyed the 3DS Pilotwings game more than most certainly did, so you don't know how down i've been to have the opportunity to explore Wuhu Island again (in a more convenient manner than the rocket belt allowed).

IIRC there was some kind of reason for that, like an interview or an insider said something about it or something that led people to think it was going to be coming quicker than we thought. I am definitely looking forward to finally getting another look at it.

Tomodachi Life on the 3DS wasn’t exactly the best content wise lol.

Being shallow from its previous entry would be pretty difficult to achieve. Funny if it does.

...is Pilotwings a stinker? Could Everybody's Pilotwings star anthro animals? Nintendo rushing out something after seeing people rave about Microsoft Flight Simulator?

i'm sure it isn't Pilotwings, lol.

That's the thing, I didn't think the hint was shallow relative to the previous game, but that it's a shallow series. And y'know, we just saw Miitopia get a horse. I think I'm feeling confident in Everybody's Tomodachi

I hopped around Wuhu Island with the Rocket Belt like an idiot for so long when I was 13. Unfortunately (and as I'm sure you know), Pilotwings Resort was wildly out of scale and pretty substantially pared down

I keep forgetting that we've seen Wuhu Island in HD, and it is beautiful

NoA seemed to have a lot of fun marketing Tomodachi Life on 3DS. It had a dedicated direct hosted by Bill (and Mii Bill) that Japan had no equivalent too.

If they aren't feeling a sequel, maybe that means it's a BAD sequel; and I don't want to think about that possibility.

I seriously don't think the casual stinker is Tomodachi though, for the reasons i've already said.

No chance, lol. Tomodachi Life is the 10th best-selling 3DS game.

It WOULD validate 'NoA have bad taste Theory', but it doesn't fit the clues at all.

I'm going by GameCenter CX rules; so the DS won't be retro until 2024.
I do think it being a sales juggernaut doesn't exactly rule out the possibility of it being the casual stinker. I mean, NSMB is a sales juggernaut, U was the third best selling Wii U game and when we first heard it was being ported we've all gone "😐".

We made LABO Vehicle Kit flop so goddess EPD will never bless us with open world casual game ever again.
On a serious note I was really wondering yesterday about the possibility of the Ring Fit Adventure being "open world". Not giant map like BotW but open ended design or larger levels with tons of activities (aside of walking kilometers in real life). Something like Super Mario Odyssey.

Speaking of which, I'm completely addicted. I often speculate about dreaming of an actual open world Mario but playing Odyssey I don't know if I want it anymore. Odyssey is the most open world I think a game like that can get. It's not about map size as in BotW or Skyrim, but about how much content it can have in a map. I spent more time in New Donk City than in the Great Plateau. The way it made me explore a loooot every kingdom is just magic to me. The pure platforming games are just perfection too. One of the best games I've ever played surely. It's the kind of feeling I got with Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Zelda OoT and Persona 5, where I just want to play and play and it just gets more impressive and I get more immersed.

I thought it was just because people(including myself lol) were taking the stinker itself as a hint like something that Wario would be, but now it makes sense that it would be character based instead of Mii based.
I remember Emily saying that it's a game that reveals would range from from 50-70?? I'm not certain on the window she gave but it was something that is really really bad for Nintendo standards. So I think Tomodachi Life can be ruled out too. Also with how it sold I don't think it wouldn't be loved by some at NoA or be well recepted from fans while just ignored by core fans.
Oh well... I think it's really gonna be Animal Crossing New Festival lol.

Oh, I remember that as well. And I also think it's not gonna come like the end of the gen or anything. It's just that people(myself included when I read that statement) took it way too far like thinking it would come as early as 2022. Well, after the bar that XV and VII remake set, it can come in 2024 and the statement will still be right lol. I think it can come in 2023 tho.

Wuhu Island really would be a fantastic setting for a smaller open world game. It's the perfect size, it's already designed (though it could likely use some modifications), it has the affection of a generation of Wii kids, and it has a lot of satisfyingly laid out locations. It really would be perfect and every night before bed I pray that it happens in my lifetime

Oh that's right. It also wasn't that bombed by critics I think?

I'll be happy for the fans if it was announced, and I'm curious to see how it would look on the Switch, polygons and lighting wise. ACNH surely set a bar. That game is stunning. Well it could be that it would inevitably be compared to ACNH and people wouldn't be excited by it? Idk. What I sure hope is that whenever it comes, that one has gay and lesbian marriage. It sucked that they didn't add it on the 3DS even after it was requested.

also, not to whine too too much, but I think it's somewhat telling about the current state of Nintendo that this is our primary topic of discussion. at this point what's good is boring and what's interesting is mediocre to bad
I'm not sure what you mean by this. I'm hyped as hell for next year's lineup, especially with what's rumored to be in it, I'm definitely not bored. Unless you just mean the general holiday time of year is boring for speculation? Which, yeah, it kind of is, but it'll heat up before too long.

the good games are boring

botw2, xenoblade 3, metroid remake, fire emblem remake, octopath 2, rabbids 2, advance wars remake, splatoon 3. only major exceptionis finally getting a 3D kirby

meanwhile the mediocre games are interesting. big brain academy, mystery stinker, etc

More so the mystery stuff is interesting to try to figure out, while with the big games they are mostly sequals so we know what we will be getting for the most part

I feel like you overthink too much.

Or worry about stuff others ain’t worry about cause these thoughts don’t cross most of our heads.

As someone who’s been around since the last years of the Wii and during the Wii U era. It’s been bliss compared to those times.

I can kind of see the argument that they're boring since yeah, they're basically all sequels and remakes, but that's kind of the industry as a whole right now. But, I think we'll still get a good dose of "weird and different" Nintendo, too, it's just that that part of Nintendo rarely is seen much before it happens, if that makes sense. Games like Good Job! and such that come totally out of nowhere.

the only thing I care about is donkey kong tbh

the next Japanese game trial is Battle Cats

When is the next American game trial? The online membership of the guy that I bought the Switch ends in early December, and I can't even find where the free trials are lol. Brazil eShop is based on the American so I think we get the same trials? I'm eager for some free games. Warframe looks absolutely stunning in handheld mode(also pretty weird that I had to enter in a US account to download it because it's not on Brazilian eShop but the game has Portuguese subtitles and text so what the heck?).

heretic

  • flying game
  • anthro animals

Just say you want a new StarFox and be done with it.
Star Fox Zero 2(and Nintendo gets sued by the Darling in the Franxx owners).

It's definitely not that tho, but it definitely would receive quite an amount of hate upon announcement if it ever happened. Or if it's ported.

Dammit I was a moron and cracked my phone screen. Is putting on a screen protector AFTER it's cracked a decent idea to avoid paying like $300 to replace the screen? Or is that a horrible idea?
