Pretty sure the Team January people are the only ones who aren't joking around.
Team January is only for the most serious January devotees

Humor is for weak minded month teams who decide they've won or lost based on silly things, like actually having a Direct that month

The cancellation of E3 and its consequences have been disastrous for the Nintendo community.

My statement at the time may be accurate at that moment & change as info becomes available.

I'm mostly just tired of outlets making news out of my teases.

If I choose to tease or share Direct info, it'll be on my own terms.
I'd say, don't say or tease anything ever. Just randomly drop a podcast episode with MVG on us out of nowhere, let this place explode

Honestly, I'd probably drop any mention of a Direct happening or not happening in an episode.

Even when I write things out... people still misreport what I'm saying.
You could say "I'm not saying this is definitely going to happen, I'm not confirming anything, this is SPECULATION ONLY." and people would still post to r/GamingLeaksAndRumours: "NATE THE HATE CONFIRMS NINTENDO DIRECT TOMORROW"

I totally get it; even if it weren't for people taking your words out of context/misunderstanding them and getting mad at you for it after, I understand the headlines can get tiring if you're just speculating or something.

You can’t say anything. It’ll always be misconstrued or taken out of context. Look how it still happens with Jeff Grubb. He’ll start with “this is speculation” before he talks and it’ll still be reported as “Jeff Grubb said this is happening”

YOOO OK I JUST GOT THIS IMAGE IN MY INBOX
JUNE 15TH CONFIRMED???

Something happening with Nintendo in July would make sense as they are going to be at Gamescom after a long long time. Would be weird if they are just there with older games.

I heard a few friends saying that the Pikmin 4 trailer was a big deal and shot down any chances of a june/summer direct, but I honestly don't see it. If it were an overview trailer, sure, but it was really just showing off the character builder. That said I'll be really surprised if Nintendo went to gamescom with nothing to show in the pipeline but the pessimist in me says we're waiting until September even if it doesn't make sense

Hate to say it, but if things pan out the way I think they are, we'll be lucky to get a Direct even in September. So, I must bid farewell to #TeamJune and join #TeamSeptember. Sorry, Lukas 😥

Unless we get a Mini, I'd be down for that.

This isn’t me ragging on Nathaniel. Obviously the average Nintendo fan isn’t expected to be privy to the obscure information necessary to come to the conclusion that the succ isn’t coming until holiday 2024 (which is still conjecture at this point), but even if the succ comes out January 1, 2024, that’s still over 5 months without a Nintendo-published title (using Pikmin 4 as a baseline for what constitutes a “big game”)

What's the info that makes people think it's coming Holiday 2024? I still think Spring 2024 is decently likely, especially if the rest of this year is as underwhelming as some speculate. All I remember is NateDrake saying he thinks Holiday 2024, but even that sounded more like a prediction than anything directly related to insider info he had iirc.

It bothers me how everyone is just accepting Metroid Prime 4 will be exclusive to the next system as if that's fact.

Makes me think we're going to see a lot of disappointment when, lo and behold, Metroid Prime 4 is a Switch exclusive and not coming to the next system at all.

I was on Team July before Grubb, I will claim victory.

So, how about this

Next week:
Main Nintendo Direct, mostly H2 2023 games

Late June: Pikmin 4 Direct

Early/Mid July: Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, with a reveal of the new console alongside short burts of gameplay of Metroid Prime 4, a new 3D Mario and Mario Kart 9, with the announcement of a full presentation coming in September/October of this year, given a vague 'Early 2024' release slate at the end of the presentation

Is this plausible enough?
So, this is just an idea I've been toying around with, but there is a scenario where it could be both June and July. Depending on how Nintendo wants to message things, what they could do is do sort of a Direct sandwich where they announce the rest of the Switch titles for the year, then announce Switch 2, then announce all the Switch 2 titles and enhancements in 3 separate events. It'd help to make it clear what is for each platform.

Like I said though, just an idea I've been toying with. Not really any evidence for a particular format at this time (aside from Partner Showcases being particularly unlikely unless accompanied by other things).
There's no way they have separate Switch and Switch 2 months so close.

Metroid Prime 4 will launch as the final first party Switch 1 game (and as a dual release for the Switch S U C C) and it will be easily the best looking game on the console.

Retro Studios will somehow squeeze 60FPS out of this game, while making it look amazing.

You know you're in trouble when you've made a Reddit headline of one of Nate's posts and this theme starts playing:

Unless I missed some big leak or insider info, there is no reason to believe Metroid Prime 4 will be coming to anything other than the Switch. People who think it's going to be crossgen or exclusive to the next platform are just setting themselves up for disappointment. I am not looking forward to every single Prime 4 review saying "shouldn't be on the Switch". I already got enough of that in TotK reviews.

We don't even have the faintest idea what the next platform will be, so people are getting their hopes up for something that doesn't even exist.
