I wonder if Nintendo is just skipping the summer season for the annoucement or if they don't have any games at all for the latter part of the year, which would be bizarre. let's wait and see.

Isn't this for SGF specifically? Because then it makes sense that there wont be much for switch as Nintendo are skipping SGF

Nintendo never associates with Summer Game Fest because they have their own show around this time. Not that’ll stop Keighley from saying their inevitable show was part of Summer Games Fest on Twitter. They do participate at The Game Awards in December because they have no show of their own then.

Regardless of what happens, the biggest guarantee is we won’t reach Pikmin without another dated game by Nintendo. That would be catastrophic for their image and desire to sell 15 million more Switches this year.

Even if SGF is just one live streaming event, it's supposed to be a "videogame announcements season", like a wider E3. Since Nintendo don't want to be part of that, I think they simply won't do anything this summer.

We could try to justify it by saying that "Zelda is so big that we don't need more Nintendo content yet", but in reallity it's just one game, and the future of Nintendo Switch looks empty.

This guy again? Hell no.

He is getting paid to shit on Directs, something we are doing for free.

Nintendo would never be part of Summer Game Fest, we are doing this every year since 2020. People should stop acting like they would be there, they care about TGA to some degree (bringing Bayo Origins last year). But their support for TGA goes slowly down every single year, they realized they don't need to show there anything at all, they supported it early on because the Switch was not where it is the past few years. Even if Nintendo was not doing anything in June they would still not be part of SGF, why would you announce your games alongside other publishers when you can do stuff on your own (standalone announcement).

TBF I read it like "generic summer events", but yeah probably i missread and misunderstood what he was saying, so my bad.

nintendo is having a great year in my opinion, I just hope in a couple of title for the back half of the year

I think no one is sure at this point about his tweets anymore.

I think Dring's intention is to imply that Nintendo has nothing coming soon regardless of branding, but due to his bias I'm not sure that he should be trusted (or paid any attention at all)

Is strange that people think that Nintendo might not do something this summer because they dont want to be associate with Summer Game Fest

When the Nintendo i have in mind will actually probably respond back with a very pr answer if Kighley will claim that event is part his summer fest

While I doubt Dring, I'm increasingly humoring the idea that Nintendo will let Zelda and Pikmin breathe before announcements in early August. In such a time, what would be the September game? Part of me wonders if Side Order on September 1 could fill that need while a remaster is announced for October and something a little bigger like 2D Mario comes in November.

I simply don't believe Nintendo wont announce anything before July. They won't launch Pikmin 4 and then nothing on the horizon after it. Even with zelda and mario movie huge success, investors wont be happy without any game announced for H2 aside from some DLCs.

Also, they wouldn't have had this SO packed H1 just to have an empty H2. We just need to relax and wait.

I love the idea for the early August Direct but the fact that Zelda got released means that it will not be as chaos here. But it will not happen either way. People often want to come with the most wild theories, but the easiest one is often the likeliest.

Sure, but we should be hearing rumblings about a June Direcr by now, and instead everyone seems to be implying it's not happening. At this point I would be more surprised by the otherwise obvious route than something unusual.

The annual shareholder meeting is on 29 June. I think it would be so funny if they went into that with only Pikmin 4 announced. Part of me hopes they do it.
It would be so funny, sad that it won't happen. Part of me tells me that am still alright expecting General mid June when I read that some expect next-gen announcement in June.

...So we aren't expecting a Direct because last year proved that we are not owed a June Direct, and part of the reason there was no June Direct last year, or at least part of the reason the Partner Showcase wasn't earlier in the month was because Nintendo wanted to separate themselves from Game Fest. So it makes perfect sense for them to go to Game Fest this year, but not with a Direct, just with a single game reveal.

You guys are really just running in circles trying to think of things that'll happen "just because" just because we don't have any definitive proof of what Nintendo's doing this Summer.

Just something I presented as a possibility. Nintendo had a smaller game at TGA, and could do something similar at Game Fest this year.

What happened in prior years means nothing, Nintendo will evaluate and make decisions based on whatever makes the most sense at the current time. Game Fest is still very new, but its audience keeps growing.

Nintendo will do a Shareolder Direct, basicaoly you pay to have the chance to ask about a specific game in development and answer will be yes or no

It's interesting that the chatter is "it's not happening" instead of "I'm not hearing anything about it". Wonder how that distinction is made.
Directs are so leaky that if they're not hearing about it it's safe to assume it's not happening

Nintendo themselves generally aren't as leaky so if by some miracle they were doing a first-party focused presentation it'd be less likely to leak

There's also, of course, still a chance a June Direct happens as everyone insists it isn't coming

I mean, even if Ninty doesn't do their own thing, we could still get some pretty neat 3rd party announcements!
Idk who brings news as long as whatever it is, sounds fun. XD

I haven't been reading much here these last few days (things at work+Zelda totk+things at life), but has anyone besides Dring said that it's not happening?

First game to sold Pikmillion copies, 10 years in the making.

PIKMIN FALL WHEN ALONE, BUT AS ONE, THEY FEAR NONE.

Global Sales of "Pikmin 4" for Nintendo Switch surpassed 15 Million units in the first three days after release.

(Headquarters: Minami-ku, Kyoto; President and CEO: Shuntaro Furukawa; hereinafter "Nintendo") today announced that the worldwide cumulative sales of "Pikmin 4" for Nintendo Switch, which was released simultaneously worldwide on July 21st, 2023, surpassed 15 million units in the first three days after its release (including 7.42 million units sold in Japan). Pikmin 4 is the first game which out forecast puts it above out best selling game of all time, Wii Sports (82.90 mil. units) we are expecting Pikmin 4 to sell around 100 mil. units, making it the first Pikmin game to sell Pikmillion copies. 1 Pikmillion = 100 mil. units.

"Pikmin 4" is the latest title in the "Pikmin" series, a sequel to "Pikmin 3" which was released in 2013.

A new adventure blossoms!

Pikmin are back for yet another grand mission in Pikmin 4 for Nintendo Switch. These tiny, plant-like creatures inhabit a mysterious planet. Grow, pluck and command them, as you traverse this new world with their help.

It's interesting that the chatter is "it's not happening" instead of "I'm not hearing anything about it". Wonder how that distinction is made.
Functionally it's because if Nintendo was planning a normal direct with 3rd party titles, there would be a variety of people at Nintendo and various 3rd parties who'd know content was being used in an upcoming event. Let's just say for the sake of the discussion Nate & Grubb's sources are at SE, Capcom, Konami, and Bandai Namco. If all of them haven't heard of an upcoming Nintendo direct, it means there isn't one, those sources got cut off and are probably gonna be fired soon, or the direct won't have titles from any of those companies.

Every insider on planet Earth can say that they have not heard anything about June Direct but I will be there, until last second saying that it exists.

One of the best copypastas that I have ever read, even better than "I literally screamed fuck you at my screen..."

Agreed; the current Direct is obsolete. Nintendo Direct Pro fucking when? /s

Each passing day, we are closer to seeing how they evolved 2D Mario. It's been 10 years, and soon will be 11 when the game releases. Maker 1 and 2 are still mainline 2D Mario games but they are still Maker games in the end (altough Maker 2 also has a singleplayer campain). With Pikmin 4 releasing in just 2 months, this is the year when both of these are coming after 11 and 10 year haitus respectively. To put that into perspective on how long it actually is - both NSBU and Pikmin 3 were shipped under EAD 4. They are now EPD10.
I would love it if they included the Mario Maker features in the next 2D Mario. It makes more sense than selling Mario Maker separately, and it would reach a wider audience that could have fun creating levels.

I think Dring's intention is to imply that Nintendo has nothing coming soon regardless of branding, but due to his bias I'm not sure that he should be trusted (or paid any attention at all)
I read it as SGF not having all that much Switch focus which, if I remember rightly, is par for the course and should not be surprising.

Dring is the original source for "Nintendo don't have games ready so are skipping major exhibitions" and "no major Switch titles after Zelda" but I don't think he knows either of those things; he knew Nintendo would skip E3 before most others knew, knew Switch is old and that Zelda was coming, and went from there with an inference that may not be true.

This topic picking up speed again
I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda doesn't hold people for as long as some would think, sure many will still play it a lot and be content with only playing that but there's probably a lot of people that will slowly but surely think about and ask: "what's next?"

"Just enjoy Zelda" means they're putting Zelda crossovers into more games. Another Zelda track in Mario Kart, Zelda gear in Splatoon, Pokémon will let you catch a Bokoblin that evolves into a Moblin

"Just enjoy Zelda" is a coded confirmation that the SGF itself will BE a Zelda game

To me Nintendo seems really not caring about Keigsley event, like at all
To tell you the truth, I'm rather surprised that so many people seem to care at all. I'm always fascinated by the hype that this guy manages to create about quite empty and not particularly great events, including TGA.
2d Mario this holiday, prime 4 spring/summer, 3D Mario and TOKT solo expansion DLC holiday 2024
In addition to all this, I can also see a Donkey Kong game and Detective Pikatchu 2 in 2024. As much as I love Metroid, I don't know if Prime 4 as the only big launch title is enough.

When Nintendo stated that they would not be part of E3 before it was officially cancelled that signaled to me that this was not going to be a traditional summer for Nintendo marketing. Why would they back out of E3 if they had a full June direct planned full of new games? I do believe Nintendo when they say they Value E3 so them backing out was a big sign this summer will be different. I still think we get a game announcement in June or July but it will probably be a smaller title or a remaster. Pikmin 4 will become the focus once Zelda hype slows.

No matter how good Zelda is, the markets won't let Nintendo sit idly by for weeks with nothing but DLC announed after Pikmin.

They'd get butchered by analysts and everything. And one or two medium to small(ish) game announcements via Twitter won't do it for them either.

The least i'd expect is a Partner Showcase before Pikmin launches.

It's already end May, without any announcement from Nintendo
Sony showcase in happening on May 24th
MS showcase is happening on June 11th

I'd say it's safe to assume we are not going to hear anything substantial from Nintendo until end August/early September on time for Nintendo Seattle event + TGS
