Spoiler The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Pre-Release Spoiler Discussion Thread (Tag Story Spoilers)

Not open for further replies.
I'm not sure how to spoiler tag an image so a moderator do that for me I guess

Anyway,
Colgera might be the only boss in the depths due to the title "Scourge of the depths" Which could mean that's the only one there, but I could be wrong, the place is enormous so there's room for a lot more. The fight is the same apart from the boss having a massive damage increase. Not sure what the reward is, but there's a chest under that I assume only opens once you kill it

MOD EDIT: move image into spoiler
Gotcha.

For the future, feel free to report your post to get eyes right on it to spare other users seeing the spoil. Luckily I'm trying to stay active here so nbd.

Also, FYI you can do spoilers with tags: [ SPOILER ] [ / SPOILER ] without the spaces, letting you put images inside it. Or, you can cut and paste the image once it's created on edit of your post.

Its so weird that they are not listed in datamine. This could mean there are more stuff that we just dont know yet.
Eh, I mean it's a variant of an existing boss, I can get why it might not show up in the pictures people were using to determine bosses before (which may have been compendium related?

I'm seeing someone on resetera ask where the
colgera
fight in the depths is, and someone sharing the pictures I posted here onto resetera, so can nabiscofelt or whoever the messenger is inform the people over at resetera that the
colgera fight is around the south-west of the depths near a labyrinth

edit: thank you for your service, also if you see this again I worded it wrong, I meant
near a labyrinth, but not straight under it

Its 3rd day and we are still waiting for godma final boss and final dungeon :(
I know it’s a big game but someone always manages to beeline to the end a few days after a leak. I really want to know how the Master Sword works and if there’s another dungeon before the end. Also, if Fairies can bulk upgrade equipment instead of going piece by piece.

Uutori Village is Lurelin Village and Ichikara is Tarrey town. Unless I’m missing something I don’t see Landing’s town in the OST. Unless it is Karakara Defense. Which does give hope for more towns than the ones that existed in BotW.
If Ichikara is Tarrey and Uotori is Lurelin doesn't that mean Landing is the only new town? And I'm assuming Landing is the outpost set up where Castletown used to be? What makes you think there's more?
Edit: btw I don't want to know details of any new towns, I just want to know if they exist.

I’ve seen conflicting stuff that there’s 5-6 dungeons, isn’t one of them just the construct one? Where’s the 6th?

Silly questions time. :)
I'd like to know if there are any datamines/informations about
1. New animals/wildlife?
2. New type(s) of mount?
3. New colors for horses?
4. New ‘legendary’ mount(s)?
5. I read about a file named ‘sky horse’, is it real? Has someone seen it in game?

Thanks!

Wind (Rito dungeon)
Fire (Goron dungeon)
Lightning (Gerudo dungeon)
Water (Zora dungeon)
Hyrule Castle (considered a dungeon by the files, has a similar structure with a five lock system. But may or may not be considered a dungeon depending on how you want to define it, since it lacks the other qualities of the dungeons (no sage powers or puzzles))
Spirit Temple/Zonai Facility - These kind of jointly make up a dungeon. The Zonai Facility is the more "dungeon-y" setup but the Spirit Temple houses the boss and is what is technically classified as a dungeon by the files. They're anyways part of the same sequence in the game so it makes sense to join them as one

Then the final dungeon, which is potentially Ganondorf's Castle. (has unique dynamic music and such in the files but no dedicated map) Not sure on the nature of this one though since no one's actually gotten here yet to my knowledge

Technically, the ‘lock mechanism’ for Hyrule Castle is going to marked places to fight enemies. It’s really not a dungeon imo, but the boss is a solid stat check

is there any chance that zelda might still be playable once you beat the game or would that have been found in the game files by now?

Neiteio over on Era made a pretty great summary of the some of the underground content, if anyone was curious.

So the Depths have lightroot trees, mining tunnels, enemy camps, forts, ruins, labyrinths, coliseums, the gloom effect, hieroglyphics to uncover (with lore), NPCs on expeditions, Kohga and the Yiga, collectible Poe spirits to collect and trade with Poe statues activated via puzzles (they trade you hearts, stamina, gear, etc), treasures that were paid DLC or amiibo unlocks in BotW (i.e. the Tunic of Time, Majora's Mask, etc), a different Phantom Ganon that stalks you, remixed boss rematches (each in their own area, separate from a boss rush), at least two major dungeons, and some of the hardest enemies in the game (including a gauntlet of five silver Lynels, including one in full body armor wielding giant spiked balls). And that's just some of what's been uncovered so far in a map the size of Hyrule.

The forum looks amazing with the TotK theme! Not like that horrible Sega theme with the tiny ugly font.

Anyway, has more soundtrack leaked? I hear a couple of tracks for a few seconds that someone posted before in the thread and were great.

This game is going to make BOTW completely obsolete lmao. This game has more dungeons, more shrines, more enemies, better quests, better sidequests, over double the map space, better boss battles, a lot more secrets, and more unique mechanics. It's Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle -> Sparks of Hope all over again.

Few questions (sorry if they've been answered, but I don't want to dig too deep in the thread in case I actually decide to pick this up)

*Is it still just a small handful of dungeons? Are the dungeons more varied visually and in terms of how you solve them? Are there interesting bosses who aren't just elemental Ganon clones?
*How obnoxious is the weapon durability? Has it been toned way down?
*Does the world feel more alive/populated with meaningful things to do?
*How's the music?
*How necessary is driving?

1. 5 -6. Themed, def far bigger and varied, much better bosses. The 5 point structure is still maintained so think of it like a compromise between the different design philosophies. I think most will be satisfied.
2. Fusion is their solution here I think. If you like the idea, you'll probably mind durability a lot less.
3. YES
4. Better imo, still a lot of reused tracks though
5. From what i've seen you really don't need to engage with it that much if you don't want to, the game has some accommodations as well.

I just wish there were more concrete details in regards to performance on Switch. I'm sure it'll run fine but I'd love to have my worries erased.

Doubt it, unless you think games like the original Zelda or Mario Galaxy are obsolete as well. Just because the sequel adds more doesn’t take away from what the first game was and still is. The restraint in exploring Hyrule is still gonna appeal to some people, moreso than the freedom you have in Tears of the Kingdom.

Heck, I’ve even heard some people saying they prefer Kingdom Battle over Sparks of Hope, so I don’t even think that’s the best example.

Maybe it's just a personal thing, but I can't go back to Kingdom Battle due to Sparks of Hope being so much better in every way. Doesn't make Kingdom Battle a bad game, it's just hard to go back to the way things were. I think it'll be the same with this game.

I was saying this from the begging and I still will, botw but as very basic in mechanics but it was the first of its kind, totk can do something amazing by having unique mechanics that were not possible in botw due to experience with the engine, pluses already knowing the gameplay going in and so on.

Most botw mechanics were all grounded in realism as the world largely was, with totk they are going more out there.

I know a lot of TP fans are gonna be happy about this:

Apparently learnable special moves are back!
I swear it's just one new thing after another

Okay, this is a 6 year game.

Also;

Somebody's gotten to the end now. Ganondorf's Castle IS real, but it's more like Hyrule Castle in BotW; exploration is optional and you could just go straight to Ganondorf if you wanted.

Main quest progression discussion

by this point, it’s clear that we were ALTTP’ed, just with the caveat that in BotW style, you can go to the “dark world” (Depths) whenever lol.

Beginning
4 elemental dungeons
Hyrule castle

Transition of the main quest to “dark world” (The Depths)

Spirit temple/Zonai facility
Ganon’s castle and final boss

Only weird points/key differences
  • Goron Dungeon also takes place in depths? but I didn’t see that one so idk how that transition worked and if the death mountain crater is more segmented off than the rest of the depths. If so that would kinda be another neat nod to LTTP, didn’t the lead up to the Death Mountain dungeon in the light world in that game require you to go to the dark world before you “knew” the scope of it?
  • main quest leans more overworld, with way more dungeons, than depths. Kinda opppsite to LTTP.

But did we ever actually see what main quest prompt pops up after clearing the spirit temple? Is it straight to Ganon after that?

Hes not the only person transformed into a dragon btw.
Well I know that one lol
but that’s tied to the master sword quest, what quest leads to demon dragon

So with the new lore about Dragons, does this shed Farosh, Dinraal and Naydra in new light?

Yo I know I'm kinda jumping in here. Anyone know of any good solutions for the lack of textures in the Depths? I feel like I can't navigate it at all with this glitch happening.
