Some pieces of the undeground map:

It's honestly kinda mind boggling when you think about it. BoTW's map was already huge, and then you add two separate layers (at least, there's space for more on the map screen). And then you make all that freakin' seamless somehow, on a 2017 tablet

How is this game real

This is fair, but we know there's a full underground map at least with its own tower equivalents. I suppose some of it could be rock though
How do we know the depths have a tower system? Have we seen any visuals beyond the map image posted earlier on this page?

Yeah there was a streamer playing in the depths, and they unlocked a tower.

Specifically, it's the tree we've seen in February trailer with light coming from it, appropriately called a Lightroot

So after watching the opening and some of the cutscenes... i have no idea how this is supposed to tie into past games. I'm back onboard the "BotW series is a full reboot with references to the past" train.

By the way, I spoiled myself with the intro today and it seems that:

That mammoth carrying Zelda isn't a thing anymore. Not even the malice taking the rat. I wonder if the place is the same or if that entrance we saw on the first trailer still exists.

Yeah, it seems to me that somewhere during development they decided to make that starting area playable in real time instead of a cutscene, thereby forgoing certain details like the rat.

Not gonna lie was expecting the underground to be more caves but the fact that it seems to be a straight map is super surprising.

There are also caves, there's a whole giant set of maps for the caves (don't have it but was posted in the thread on the other site).

It's getting embarrassing already, and we're only a couple of hours in.

Better to confirm your own biases than to wait for the full picture.

Gaming discourse is sometimes so profoundly useless.
it's 4chan i expect terrible opinions over there

I've got what I needed guys. I will bow out now.

The physical version will arrive may 16th from Amazon but I'm almost inclined to find a GameStop that has it

Caves don't seem to have their own maps, technically. But that hasn't stopped them from appearing pretty substantial

I feel like there’s a hefty amount especially compared to BOTW, or do you mean entirely new enemies and not returning ones in the series?

If so fair enough.
There isnt a lot of new enemy types (unique enemies, doesnt necessarily have to be returning or brand new to the series), especially when you consider how large the world is and them adding both sky and underground areas. Also have to consider that they removed some as well, the guardians and its sub types.

I haven’t really been counting but I’ve been pretty impressed by the enemy variety we’ve seen so far, personally.

Man DLC team has just been crushed without mercy. This is going to be so huge that I'm already overwhelmed.

How in the actual fucking fuck is this running on a 2015 tablet? Not to sound abrasive, but this puts other games on the platform that struggle to shame

Hell, this puts other games on more powerful systems to shame. Who needs an SSD?

Anyways,

The streamer is currently doing the lead up to the Rito dungeon. You get Tulin as a companion who's able to summon a gust of wind like a horizontal Revali's Gale (skill on a slight cooldown, activated with the A button). The leadup is a series of Sky Islands that, in all honesty, is practically a dungeon itself. Or a 3D Platforming level

The fact that the companions get unique abilities that you're able to use on command kinda means dungeon items are back, in a way

Friendly reminder that there are no loading screens as you traverse the underground, land, and skies

What the actual hell
Wait WHAT

Does this mean the tower system underground allows for seamless transition to the land, much like how the land merges seamlessly with the sky due to the land towers catapulting Link into the air? How does travel to the underground work?
Now I'm just hoping the shadow world has diverse biomes. It's hard to tell from the map.
The shadow world? Is this just what we're calling the depths aka the underground or has something else been discovered?

I really think I have to bounce out of this thread in a few. I don't even want to see a dungeon interior or any unique enemies/bosses/puzzles etc. in the underground.
