I'll take it! The size and aesthetic variety were all I really needed tbh. Should lead to each dungeon feeling different, even if the structure itself is the same. Divine Beasts just felt too short and too samey.
Yeah, this was my main gripe with them. It was the same tubular room in all four dungeons. These are a lot better. Lava Dungeon especially.

Apparently there's mini-bosses in the dungeons too, which is a big improvement.

Yep, I think most people will be pretty damn happy with this

I get the appeal of linear dungeons and am still kinda sad that they're gone, but I'm very very happy with what I've seen here. And the lead up to this dungeon was still pretty linear so it's not like linear aspects aren't present in any form
Some part of me misses linear dungeons for sure, but if they use the longer length to make each individual part/puzzle of the dungeons more linear or puzzle-like compared to the Divine Beasts, I won't complain. The aesthetic variety and increased length does more than enough for me though.

Has the data mine shown how many “shrines” there are yet? Sorry if this has already been discussed. Not clicking on every spoiler, just a few things I’m curious about.

yeah I'll admit the lead up to the dungeon was pretty dope

No need for the quotes, they're literally called Shrines

There are 151 of them

So after watching the opening and some of the cutscenes... i have no idea how this is supposed to tie into past games. I'm back onboard the "BotW series is a full reboot with references to the past" train.
At least the mural that Zelda describes doesn't really contradict what we know of the foundation of the Kingdom of Hyrule. That period of time is still extremely vague, what we know of the period between the ending of Skyward Sword and the actual foundation of the Kingdom of Hyrule is minimal. All we have are tidbits from OoT, TP, ALBW, and HH:

- There were years of peace

- Then word of the Triforce spread and that led to an era of chaos. During that era of chaos, one of the many groups that coveted the Triforce were the Dark Interlopers. The Goddesses then intervened and sent the Spirits of Light.

- Chaos continued until Rauru, the Sage of Light, used "powers stronger than both time and the Master Sword" to seal the Sacred Realm away. The Spiritual Stones were then given to their respective tribes.

- Many years later, "the descendants of the Goddess Hylia, who was reincarnated as Princess Zelda, established the kingdom of Hyrule and became Hyrule's royal family."

The only sore points are Rauru being this Zonai and how Ganondorf was there for the Era of Chaos. And yet, that happening does clear up some mysteries left still from OoT, mainly Ganondorf's origin and Twinrova. The 400 year old witches being Ganondorf's surrogate mothers and worshipping him early on as the Demon King (HH page 90) and knowing ritual to revive the Demon King are unexplained to this day. So them fitting the idea of "Twinrova giving some of Ganondorf's Malice a human shell and that is the Ganondorf we know" is not thaaat out there.

Though wherever they go, all we know for certain is that in the past of BotW the events of SS, OoT, and now seemingly ALttP, as the ancient records read by Zelda mix the Imprisoning War with the events seen in the mural, do happen.

So it seems like there are Blood Moon cutscenes in the files labelled for Link, and ones labelled for Zelda? If that's the case, then...

We might have a playable Zelda. I can't see why you'd have a variant for Link and a variant for Zelda if the latter isn't playable? Story cutscenes would probably be labelled differently.

The dungeon music is phenomenal
Okay, I'm about to peace out for real this time after seeing your Wind Temple pic (which is absolutely glorious), BUT -- is the new music played throughout the entire dungeon as ambience like any typical 3D Zelda temple, or is it old Divine Beast music except for when battles occur within the dungeon? I only ask because I saw you say "unique battle music confirmed"

The music for the fights are separate and unique to the Temple. The music starts off as ambience like any 3D Zelda and it gets much more grand as it goes on, it's fantastic. Also, this is one of the most hype boss fights in a Zelda game in terms of music and presentation. This is some top tier stuff, albeit a bit easy

Music throughout the whole dungeon. It build and layers themes as you progress. And then climaxes during the boss.

Is this actually true? I woke up too late to catch the cutscene folder before the mega upload got deleted. Got a pic or anything?

There's also:

a separate type of collectible for caves/depths?
Yes. There's a monster called cave master IIRC, it looks like a glowing frog that spits bubbles and it drops a collectible. We have seen like 2 seconds of depths, so no idea about that one

XBX is 154 sq miles BOTW is 140 sq miles. With this TOTK easily dwarfs it
You sure?? Back in 2015 it was claimed Xenoblade Chronicles X was 400km². I'm seeing estimates of 86km² for BotW.

Edit: beaten, just saw your post about a lot of it being an empty ocean.

There's one on the Great Sky Island as well, in the cave seen behind the fan Zonai Construct in the gameplay showcase.

damn I was hopeful the underground would be massive, but thought of that as just the caves and some connection between them, but not as big as the sky map, let alone almost as big as the overworld. I can totally see why it took 6 years now. We were expecting the same map with some changes and some stuff above and below, but we're getting two immense maps made from the ground up and the evolution of the BotW map as a "bonus". I never ever doubted the Zelda team but they just blown my mind again.

No pic or anything, or a link to the mega upload unfortunately. Just going off of comments from the r/gamingleaksandrumours TotK megathread. Interested to see if it ends up being true. Could just be some big cutscene that you later see from Zelda's perspective before she disappears into wherever/whenever she's at.

Completing the dungeon lets you use the Sage abilities everywhere. Looks like there's no usage limit to them like in BotW, but you can only have one active at a time. You summon the avatar and have it perform the ability by interacting with it. Might get a bit annoying, but hard to say until we actually get to try it out ourselves.

A ton of speculation didn't pan out (my own included!) but it sure looks like we got something that addresses most of the more frequent issues people had with BotW while also being a goddamn huge game. There's... a lot, and I'm surprised at how much stuff there seems to be with the underground areas.

Seems like a recurring theme for whoever plays games way earlier than release….just plainly suck ass lol.

Then again this is the same person that was suffering during SV.

In Hyrule Castle, trying to locate the last piece of Royal Guard outfit. So far I have found the Cap and Boots, but having trouble locating the chest piece. Any ideas where it's at?

I will say that looking past the new info and exciting, performance is still a worry as it looks like frame drops are far more recurring than BOTW, even simple fights seem to have some notable drops.

That’s a lot smaller than I was expecting, but I guess it makes sense since the underground is about the same size as the surface. It’s funny that marketing focused so much on the sky islands and barely showed the underground, yet the underground is the significant addition.

Goddammit. Of course the biggest island is the first one.

You gotta love how Nintendo mostly advertised the sky islands, which are seemingly very small other than the Great Sky island, instead of the underground WHICH DOUBLES THE SIZE OF THE MAP.
I honestly don’t get it either thats not the worst part. From what I have read (don’t quote me on this) but from what I have read you will not be able to just fly from island to island at your leisure if you want to go to the other islands (in the other segments of the map) you have to go to the surface and go back up again. Otherwise your vehicle will start blinking and disappear. My God I hope that’s fake.

That might happen because some of the sky islands are dungeons. Otherwise you'd be able to reach them without going through their respective quests.

Makes sense honestly but I hope freedom is granted at least late game. Not a deal breaker for me just a tad annoying.

I’m trying to avoid spoilers but I have a few questions I just wanna know so I can set my expectations,

Is the underground like overworked sized or just kind of interlocking caves?

How many dungeons are there, are there dungeons even?

Do the tears give you abilities?

And what is baskets name unless it’s a spoiler,

sorry for asking but I don’t want to risk it going somewhere else
