I'm guessing that those arms give link that big spool of wire, which connects to the sheikah slate to update the map. I don't think that wire makes link go up/down

While I can definitely accept the probable performance range for Tears of the Kingdom, I won't lie: I'm definitely ready for more powerful Nintendo hardware, especially to see what the likes of EPD, Next Level and Monolith Soft can do with it. Squeezing something as big and complex as TotK out of the Switch is impressive, so who knows what we'll see in the next generation.
 
I've just caught wind of potential early leaks. Is it legit? Maybe I should stop browing gaming related sites altogether ☹️ I know I won't be able to resist taking a look 😅

The game won't leak till next week, most likely. You're safe for now, but I'd pack my bags on monday/tuesday

This is what I’m thinking: TotK will make the “4K boys” feel really emasculated, since it’s an embodiment of how imagination and innovation is more important than window dressing. This will result in a barrage of attacks trying to belittle the game from a technical standpoint.
 
The more chatter I see for this everywhere... the more I'm convinced it's going to have a crazy big launch. Not Scarlet and Violet big, obviously, but still one of Nintedo's biggest.

Impossible to tell, but I think it could be bigger than SV. TotK and it’s console/accessories have been floating around the top of the Amazon charts since they were revealed.

While that would be incredible, SV were absolutely massive. I'd love it, though! Guess we'll find out.

Definitely be cautious. Friend of mine got the dragons spoiled for her due to not being too careful pre-BotW.

Imagine when they first showed it off knowing how long we’d have to wait before it actually released.

It’s easily the longest wait between announcement and launch for a Zelda game.
 
Anyone else wants to head towards the preview footage area as soon as they leave the Great Sky Island?

I’m planning on heading towards the Gerudo Desert as my first story dungeon/whatever region. From how I understand the map, the preview area is near to Great Plateau and west from where Great Sky Island is supposed to be, so I figure I will hit up that area and the plateau on my journey to the desert, which I remember being in the south-west corner of the map

I think it's also scope and ambition as well. The Switch needs to be able to run handheld, so for a game like TOTK to look as good as it does and run as well as it does is fairly impressive. Jedi Survivor looks nice but not especially so for a PS5/XSX game -- it's the sequel to a 2019 game which ran on PS4/XBO, after all. That combined with its lessened scope compared with something like TOTK I think justifies the disappointment and criticism. It should run better than it does
 
Have we talked about the fact that stamina depletion during aeriel archery appears to work differently now? In BOTW, entering bullet time would cause your stamina meter to deplete at a constant pace (and fairly rapidly, at that). In TOTK, it appears that entering bullet time automatically takes a set chunk out of your stamina which gets returned if you don't end up firing an arrow

Slow-mo + bomb arrows spamming was a bit overkill in BotW, with full stamina you could really go ham for a while. I guess they wanted to put a hard cap on that, since now stamina depletion is tied to your arrow shots.

On the flip side, when you had lower stamina it sometimes was a little anxiety-inducing using bullet time - the stamina-draining was constant, so you really needed to line up your shot quickly. I think this was a good change

I think the stamina, bullet-time drain makes it easier on players when they begin the game and it makes bullet-time less over-powered closer to the end game, so I think it's an improvement overall, but it will take at least a few bullet-times to get use to.

I love this because the town this picture was taken in is 30 minutes away from me. It's like... a personal connection to a meme. It's incredible.
 
So I'm making a 'Keyword Block List' for Youtube, Twitter, etc. Basically trying to get any term that may relate to the game, to scrub as many videos about it as possible before release. All based on stuff we've already seen, of course. Am I missing anything?

Edit: I'd also add the word "shrine" just to be safe even though nothing's confirmed yet.

Leak talk aside, I'm really excited for Zonai devices, honestly. They feel like a very BoTW take on classic Zelda items in a lot of ways - they do unique or semi-unique things, but they're limited by battery and other factors and extremely versatile

I imagine there's going to be at least one Shrine dedicated to most of these Devices, and it's going to be really cool to see all the potential use cases for each (one neat example that we've already seen is that a Wheel, while obviously being primarily a wheel, is also a good way to create a spinny laser death device)

If you're using a browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc), you can get an extension which lets you block videos with certain keywords, or stuff from certain creators, and so on. Unfortunately no way to do it if you're using an app, so if you wanna be safe it's best to stay away from using YT on your Switch or phone app or whatever.
 
When someone really starts to play this game I'll stay off here until I have the game myself. Just gonna visit non-gaming internet stuff until then.

You already couldn't talk about TotK without someone bringing up the art book in one way or another 2 posts in even here, implying different things that basically spell out the spoilers already. For a game like this where everyone is watching leaks are just not fun.

There wouldn't be a reaction that big to Jedi Survivor if the game was polished at a steady 1080p/30fps. The biggest issue with that game is how uneven performance is, in addition to crashes. This definitely makes the experience distracting and unconfortable.

Most people would take a lower resolution if it means not having performance breaking the game's immersion. That's why even Switch games can be more confortable to play than some PS5/XSX/PC games, and 'some' for PC might just represent the whole new AAA release slate of 2023 (which has been terrible in terms of performance).

eh performance is just one part of polish, I have no doubt TOTK will be much more of a stable experience even at 30 fps compared to whatever the hell is going on with Survivor on all platforms.
