Hey, a few things need to be explained since there seems to be some disconnect between the reasoning for the thread lock and the fact that folks wanted a thread like the now locked thread, essentially as an place to contain leaks in the event someone starts dumping game details. The thread was created over a week ago because many people wanted a separate space for leaks from the actual game if/when people got early it early. If copies are out in the wild, if, (the 4chan images leaves it debatable) then spoilers of the game may be out before that official spoiler discussion thread pops up unless folks plan on releasing that thread this weekend.

People post artbook spoilers in here without spoiler tags, so can we post leaked spoilers of the game itself without spoiler tags too? If the answer is no then it needs to be very explicit, if the answer is yes then this thread will be dead and I don't think the community wants to have to abandon this thread just yet, all because someone might have their hands on the game, but now we kind of have to the moment any more leaks surface (obviously that doesn't apply to people who don't mind what kind of spoilers they see). In the meantime I'd use the rules like the ones I made in the locked thread, for this thread.

I'd go on a bit but it's a Friday night for everyone lol.

Yes this thread is open rules all spoiler talk allowed now to be clear. So prerelease copy discussion is intended to go here now. We are encouraging people to bow out of spoiler discussion if they aren’t interested in the level of detail that allows as the game is less than two weeks away.

Not a fan of this decision, can you explain the rationale behind not allowing a spoiler thread with marked spoilers?

If it's just that the mods feel that users shouldn't engage with all spoilers if they don't want to see some, that feels a bit patronizing for the mods to make that decision for us
 
I don't see an issue with us creating unofficial guidelines as a community. E.g. with Pokémon in pre-release spoiler threads it tends to be accepted to post datamines of new mons and their stats/moves, but people will usually spoiler-tag any story spoilers (or be requested to). I don't believe that's ever enforced as a rule by mods. Why don't we do something similar here?

I'd be fine with this

Thinking on it a bit more mods will probably already have their work cut out for them in pre release so I can understand not wanting to add another thread on top of that
 
Yeah I think in general most people will be aware to still spoiler tag, I mean look at the first few pages here - almost all the pics are spoiler tagged

That’s partially because people, including myself, said to spoiler tag the images in the main thread right before this thread went up, the etiquette carried over well.

Hey everyone, the main thing on our end was only having one thread for all pre-release spoiler discussion, beyond that you can set the rules as needed as this thread takes on a new life for its last two weeks. If you’d like we can amend the title to say to tag all story spoilers to help keep discussion moving smoothly. -xghost777, Irene, PixelKnight
 
Not sure if its been talked about but in the IGN Latin American preview of the game. We actually get to see the green zonai crystal/rock we see Link carrying around change into the shrine when placed in its target location.

Here are the guidelines we can abide by regarding using spoiler tags regarding leaks from the game itself. These are just copy and pasted from the locked thread, but if anyone has an improvement or idea let me know and I can edit this post. To be clear, the person who posted the CE photos probably doesn't have the game in my opinion.

GUIDELINES FOR SPOILER TAGS

If photos from the person who may have the CE (or from anyone else) come up please make sure to put the photos and any spoiler information in Spoiler Tags.

Also, please put "STORY INFORMATION" in your spoiler tag(s) if the photo(s) or information relates to or reveals any component of the story. Some people in this thread do want to see and read spoilers for the game (game mechanics, regions, fusions, etc...), but they do not want to see nor read spoilers about the story of the game, especially the main story, so please make sure to include the "STORY INFORMATION" label when necessary.

If the spoiler(s) are about mechanics, use "Mechanics Spoiler" in your spoiler tag title, if they are about a new enemy or enemy variant use "New Enemy Spoiler"in your spoiler tag titles, etc...make sure the spoilers are accurately labelled basically.

One more thing, if photos or the story is on 4chan, please do not link directly to 4chan.

Maybe, just for the sake of setting a good precedent, chuck this in spoiler tags and label it "Image of the back of the TOTK Case" or something

I know it's annoying but it does look like someone is taking a photo of it in their room, considering it's a carpet. Do you know what the other photo was? The post says a mod deleted a part of the post. Never mind saw the other images of the listing.

Edit: Apparently this person was trying to sell or has sold their early copy? No image of the cartridge though which is sus

GameStops and Walmarts and what not would have cases of the game by now, that doesn't necessarily mean that they have the actual game. It could very easily be a display case.
 
I still don't think it's leaked at all. We all know that the internet would be immediately be blowing up with leaks if that was the case and most of these images are suspect as fuck. I wouldn't worry about it. When it leaks, you will "know" and you can choose to avoid spoilers as desired. :)

The confirmation of Inodoaq Shrine worries me about how formulaic this game will be. Probably a lot of different developers making their own short physics puzzle again.

Exactly. You'll know a leak immediately when it happens. Actual new content in game, not this half ass stuff.

Maybe Nintendo figured out "Recall" in real life too and is now able to send leaked copies back in time.

Going to stick around until the first few spoilers from copies in the wild start trickling in. Art book and preview spoilers I can handle because they're mostly out of context and will often raise more questions than answers, but stuff like brand new, never before shown gameplay, locations, characters is a no go for me.

Can't believe it's almost time. HYPE!!!!!!!!
 
@Meelow is it cool with you to give my post, #2310, a threadmark with something like, “Spoiler Tag Rules” since the game might be leaking in like 5-6 hours. Some guy who got the Sword and Shield game(s) and streamed them about a week before release is saying he is going to stream TotK soon.

This person has had early copies of games before, and "I'm going to stream this game in a few hours" is a pretty weird thing to lie about

Seems like the streamer stopped their stream, so maybe it was just a fake or a troll attempt

Get spoiled anyway b/c some youtuber spelled it “Zleda” on their video title
 
I’m surprised it never sold for more than $300 tbh, I know we are only 2 weeks out from launch but I would have expected people were thirsty to be the first to confirm Dungeons/playable Zelda/Underground etc… for internet clout.

I wonder how the soundtrack in Tears of the Kingdom is going to be in comparison to Breath of the Wild. I really enjoyed the soundtrack in Breath of the Wild.
The way Game Score Fanfare explained it puts a different perspective into it :)

Which of the three numbers is the Y coordinate?

Because if it is the one on the right of the radar, it is at an area of almost 1500 high, I think it has never been shown Gameplay so high.

We’ve seen gameplay at this rough height in the Aonuma presentation. In fact it’s from the same island, behind the great tower structure. On the platform link dives by at the start of trailer 3./SPOILER]

If you mean altitude (which to me should be Z 😁) it's the rightmost of the three

That looks pretty legit. Maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me, but it sure looks like a notable graphics improvement over BOTW. I know it's expected to and should look better but still nice to see without YouTube compression distorting things.
