Only part I really liked about the divine beasts was getting to them I'll be real. But the whole open form design thing can be expanded upon to make something incredible, I really think it comes down to:There were only two bad things about Divine Beasts; their interior presentation is fairly uniform and the overall "tasks" of each dungeon are the same.
In every other capacity, they're the future of Zelda dungeon design. They have a significant buildup, they have creative and fairly free-form problem solving approaches, they put mastery of the moving pieces into the hands of the player, and they're interwoven into the world at large as their own set pieces.
Getting my first Blood Moon scared the living heck outta me. Meeting Naydra was one of those moments but in a more positive sense, as was meeting the Lord of the Mountain. And Vah Ruta blowing me out of the sky when I tried nearing it. And the Lynel at the end of the Lanayru Promenade. And and and...I was just sitting there thinking "Uhhh, the fuck is even happening?"
This is the single main point of improvement for me: more interesting (indoor) locations. Seems like they'll nail that going by the art book.Of course there could be more stuff, especially in terms of unique interior structures
Based on the description you provided in another post, I understand what you mean now. Yeah I definitely agree with you we likely aren't getting something like the forest temple from OoT or any Twilight Princess type dungeons (City in the Sky aside as I can see there being something like that in TotK).None of this is confirmed, at all. There aren’t even exterior shots of the areas you’re describing. It’s all just based on heavy speculation. There very well could be but it’s not true to say it’s confirmed.
I really love seeing how diverse the opinions are in this thread. I think there's a lot to learn from what others value in their gaming experiences.

Also, anytime I hear that the sky islands are not going to add that much in terms of explorable area it makes me wanna work harder at finishing that island compilation I promised!
Truth be told, I've gone through a number of procedures lately and have been on some pretty heavy pain meds, making it hard to have the energy for this project. It sucks though because I'm just sitting right now on 54 high definition images of sky islands from marketing screenshots, the last trailer, and title reveal teaser.
To report on the progress of this project: I've compiled all the images I need, ran them all through an AI upscaler, and did some map shenanigans using the 3D model of Hyrule made by "v7x" on Sketchfab, which allowed me to identify a lot of the sky islands and where they're at.
I still have more sky islands to locate and identify, and I wanna go through and enhance the images further to get the finer details to show up. Regardless, trust me when I say (as someone who has probably looked at sky islands a little bit too much!) that in total there's way more 'surface area' to explore than you'd think.
Also, I posted this in the spoiler thread a couple of days ago, but u/CryZe92 of Reddit managed to make this really awesome chart where they found the rough size of the great plateau's equivalent in the sky (basically what we think is going to be TotK's tutorial area as a sky island).
Commonwealth is saying what I've been saying. Not allowed to see Zelda until after the Mario movie. Maybe around April 12th or beyond. Nintendo wants gamers only focusing on the Mario movie.
An intense one month marketing campaign leading up to release.
Aw shucks. I wouldn't have your expectations too high! Really I'm just trying to get the best shot of every island we've seen and not have any duplicates (some bunches of islands look completely different from various perspectives).I'm almost more excited for this than a new trailer
Don’t know, I think they just want to promote the game without showing it (until the Direct/overview trailer)Nintendo has been pretty clearly pushing people to play/revisit BOTW before TotK comes out. I wonder if this strategy has anything to do with the nature of TotK’s design (does having knowledge of BOTW Hyrule make TotK a better experience?).

So Nintendo is going to charge me $89 CAD for DLC, WOW!!!
I'm paying $103.50 after taxes
You're right, but on the other hand there's just not really anything else to talk about until then. Other than artbook stuff, but I think most of us are in here because we want to stay away from that.I'm getting tired of the talk over this games marketing. We really should just wait till the 12th, one month out, at the earliest before getting all doomy.
Then the Zelda Direct will be announced Monday, if the Old Ways are still relevantI could leak the artbook in this topic then get banned. Everyone can talk about Dark Cloud taking a ban to give everyone something new to talk about.
They haven’t announced when they will run out, if at all. Note that they were only temporary in the US, in all other regions they’ve been available since. How long will these vouchers be available? I’m tempted to double dip with the digital TOTK to accompany my CE. My kids will want to play it while I’m playing it, and I ain’t switching out my game card over and over.
Just don’t know what my second game will be, ironically for the same reason, as I don’t want a digital version of a game my kids will want to play on their Switches.
I don't think those statements conflictFeels a bit disingenuous to say that we're setting ourselves up for disappointment despite it being something that you say "very well could be" in.
I hope I can just do it right before TOTK hits, and better my chances of Nintendo releasing something only I will want to play. They haven’t announced when they will run out, if at all. Note that they were only temporary in the US, in all other regions they’ve been available since.
Now you got me interested. Care to share the link? I’m avoiding the spoiler thread because at some point people speculation will be to close to reality and I will be pretty spoiled. It looks like the there’s an object in the art book that got the text written on it translated.
Let’s not discuss it here because obviously if this is correct then it contains spoilers and that it’s related to the art book.

EDIT: Never mind I saw it. Wow...
I can’t believe thatWe’ll be able to explore the vast lands of Hyrule and the skys above!
But for real, let’s keep discussion of the actual text to the spoiler thread
Thanks for the heads up, I have enjoyed the speculation in that thread but that’s all it’s really been without context, if you add the context of text, then thats too much for me and I won’t be going back to that thread. I have noticed that more and more people seemed a lot less enthusiastic about talking about the pictures in the art book lately anyways across all threads in different forums. It looks like the there’s an object in the art book that got the text written on it translated.

Edit: By spoilers I mean heavy spoilers. I only read a couple lines but it looks like it's revealing main story details.
