Well, yeah I do agree that the we are in a drought, still I‘m still confident on the Game, who knows? Maybe they are doing a Surprise Direct next Week, it’s Nintendo and they are so hard to predict as of lately.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo doesn't start any real marketing game until at least 2-3 weeks after the Mario movie releases. Nintendo seems like they want fans to ONLY focus on that movie and nothing else. Apparently you can't market both a movie and a video game in the same time frame...
Of course they can do that and market a Game and a Movie at the same Time, because i think Universal Pictures and Illumination are doing the most part of the Marketing of the Movie, so Nintendo can still promote their Games… or am I wrong?
They can but I don't think they WANT to. I think they want Nintendo fans only focusing on the Mario movie which is why Zelda still hasn't gotten any real marketing. They want fans only excited to go see the Mario movie.
If anything I think this is why we aren't seeing much Zelda yet, more than the movie being the reason. Marketing for Zelda is gonna completely overshadow every other game (except maybe Silksong whenever that pops up) and Nintendo does tend to try and keep from robbing spotlight from their smaller games.Marketing this next week is gonna be full focus on Bayonetta Origins.
I think we can expect Zelda to ramp up more after that.
I keep seeing this "Mario Movie" argument. Why? One is a movie, one is a video game. People can do more than one thing at once.
And did not another game with a similar situation to Zelda come out just a few months ago? Something about some God that deals with issues of War? That game also received very little marketing until the final months and look at that, it received the exact same score on Metacritic.
It also sold 11 Million units in 3 months.
This is how Nintendo has always worked, though. Like I'm sure there's some weird example of Nintendo doing Youtube ads months in advance for a game, but to my knowledge, even if they might have the ads already made, they advertise stuff way more when they're already out or are out soon.Dead honest--I have seen minimum 10x more ads for Metroid Prime than Zelda. I have never seen one on Youtube and watch Youtube for hours every day at work. Never seen one plastered on a website, or even in the top left corner of Youtube on the home page. Given how much I talk about Metroid Prime, makes it a little creepy that my ads are 90% MPR...
Yes to both, really eager to see your findings!Recently I've been filtering images of the sky for hidden islands, and just marveling at how much is really there. It's become kind of an obsession to be honest.
Just when you think you've seen it all there's always more in the horizon when you adjust the image in the right way. I think I should compile all of the different islands into one large picture just for fun.
Also because there are many who still underestimate what the Zelda team has been working on for 6 years (Hint: it becomes obvious when you see it all ).
EDIT: I should ask though, I've been able to identify a lot of the islands from the leaks, should I post a non-spoiler version here, and then another one in the other thread discussing those leaked islands, or do you not think that would be worth it / interesting?
I've been doing the same thing, when you really stare at the screen shots from the trailers for awhile you notice all kinds of cool islands that I hadn't noticed before. It's what I think a lot of people might be underestimating with the sky island, the shapes and scale of magnitude of what's on them, will act as the equivalent of "What's that over there," feeling from BotW. Like this one I just noticed while watching the trailer again, it almost looks like it's melting, or has an elevator going up to it. It's probably just low quality imagery, but they seem to be prevalent throughout the trailers when you specifically look for them. So if you have good quality images from the trailers, post away please. If you mark locations possibly figured out from the Art Book leak they should definitely go in the other thread.Recently I've been filtering images of the sky for hidden islands, and just marveling at how much is really there. Even if TotK is not at PAX I still believe they will show it after Bayo and before March ends. Why?
The first delay of Zelda U was announced on March 27th 2015.
The delay of TotK was announced on March 29th 2022.
Of course the game will not be delayed but Nintendo always wants to have info before the fiscal year ends (March 31st). I know, there's a difference between "our major game will be delayed" that is definitely something you want to apply before the fiscal year ends for investors but I think this also applies to more information about the game, you want to share at least something from the game before fiscal year ends to boost your confidence in it. Late March is always a time when the stars allign for a Zelda fans (well not in a good way in the last few years).
It would be classic Nintendo move to do Treehouse after PAX so they can have media coverage on their own, think of like Tuesday March 28th.If you now jinxed it, i will send you a pair of socks that are too small for you!
;]
Bring on the TotK Direct/Trailer/Treehouse within the next two weeks.
So we are now in the "marketing sucks, the game will be bad" cycle?

all the trailers suck and make the game look midSo we are now in the "marketing sucks, the game will be bad" cycle?
This is the timeline we should expect leading up to release:
This week is Bayonetta reviews and launch time.
Next week marketing for Advance Wars will start with an overview trailer (a month from release like always) and maybe even new trailer.
The week after that it's Everybody's 1-2 Switch announcement time for a release in early June.
The first week of April is obviously kick-off time for the Mario movie.
The two weeks after that are reserved for previews and reviews for Advance Wars.
In the last week of April the Tears of the Kingdom Expansion Pass will be announced (it got announced for BotW two weeks before release).
The first week of May will blow the lid open on everything Everything 1-2 Switch with an all-new overview trailer.
And then it's finally time! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release on May 12th.
Watched so much AI generated videos of Trump, Biden and Obama making gaming tier lists that I can only read this in Trump's voice - "so mid, Joe, so very very mid". xDall the trailers suck and make the game look mid
In the end it won’t matter. It does suck (a little) now.The fact that we're less than two months away from release plus what i've seen from the leaks are finally making me hyped for this game. There's a new Zelda game right around the corner and in the end, that's all that matters. The lackluster marketing bothers me, i would probably be even more hyped if they had shown something more substantial, but in the end it will probably become just a footnote when we look back to this game's trajectory in the future.
I believe that for Zelda fans who didn't like BOTW or some of its elements being this similar to BOTW is not a good thing. At least it was the case for me.The doom and gloom postings are a little bit funny to me.
I get that the TotK trailers are not as exciting for some. For me they are not as good as BotW's as well.
But I am not worried that I will not have fun with this game.
It is the direct sequel to Breath of the wild...it will not go completely wrong.
I have three examples of games I am/was excited too, where the outcome is much more uncertain.
1) Beyond Good and Evil 2. Being a sequel, they seem to deviate from almost everything the first game was about and loved for.
2) Everwild. We have seen concept trailers and heard them talk a little bit about it. But we still have no idea at all how this game will play.
3) Starfield. I am sure it will be filled with interesting content but it might be a buggy, technical mess.
Nothing of that sort applies to TotK. We have seen enough that it is clear it will feel familiar to BotW, one of the best games in history.
We have seen some new gameplay concepts (sky diving, reverse kinetic ability, crafting,...) that show that it will also play differently in some aspects.
And it is Nintendo and the Zelda Team. BotW launched in a surprisingly bugfree state for such a big open world with several physic systems.
I am more than confident that TotK will do the same.
So, the worst case scenario seems to be that it will just feel like DLC.
More of the same of my favorite game of all time? Sounds like a good baseline.
If it is just that it might be a dissapointment on a high level (for me as well) but I will still enjoy it a lot, I am sure.
New enemies, bosses, environments, abilities, puzzles,... it will all be in there.
Why should this game fail to deliver a good gaming experience? I don't get the concerns.
I believe that for Zelda fans who didn't like BOTW or some of it's elements being this similar to BOTW is not a good thing. At least it was the case for me.
Personally after I skimmed through the leaked artbook I stopped being worried.
Nintendo is not marketing the Mario movie. Universal is. If anything I'd imagine there will be something after Bayonetta so as not to overshadow it, but tbh hopefully there's something this week. Feels like that game is unmarketable as it is and already has its niche. just get the TOTK info out there.I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo doesn't start any real marketing game until at least 2-3 weeks after the Mario movie releases. It wouldn't surprise me if this is partially why TOTK has also had somewhat truncated trailers in Nintendo Directs. The last Direct would be the fourth time where TOTK has capped off a show full of noteworthy announcements in their own right and they've all had a tenor to them where they only show enough to get conversation started about gameplay hooks and speculation but doesn't completely drown out the air of everything else.If anything I think this is why we aren't seeing much Zelda yet, more than the movie being the reason. What Nintendo won’t be in Boston for, it will come as sad news to fans of the series, is the debut of the much anticipated sequel to 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, due for release on May 12.
“The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will not be shown at PAX East 2023,” the spokesperson confirmed for the Herald.
