This is clearly a bad sign, obviously Nintendo won't be at e3 because they have no games after TotK, so this upcoming direct is probably going to show off very little new, and then it'll be the winter of our discontent.

/s becuase someone won't understand I'm joking

Another no show for a Nintendo Direct in June?
I mean, we did get a Direct in June though. Granted a Partner Showcase, but dare I say that it was, in my opinion, better than a few General Directs within the Switch Era lol.

E3‘s influence has been waning massively over the passed few years, they won‘t simply skip the month when it comes to delivering news, especially when everyone else will gladly be doing so. In which form or manner that information will be delivered is, of course, to be discussed.

Was waiting for this!

This doesn’t bode well though for the new E3 producers or whatever you call them.

The partner showcase was actually quite good. Essentially a general direct without Nintendo presence. But if no General Direct with a Nintendo precedes ,you will hear about it forever!!!

Yeah, loved last year's Partner Direct. Wouldn't say no to more like that.

Nintendo is fking unhinged when they don’t latch onto a E3 in the summer. To me this can change even what we see in February because summer is completely unknown from Nintendo now.

Somehow, Keighley is behind this!

Imagine if they all go to Summer Gamesfest physical show….

Dam you Keighley

Absolute fucking agony if true.

More Twitter drops and bullshit partner showcases in July and August.
I’m on record that Twitter drops are great and partners aren’t bad. So works for me. Was nice though to have a locked in date for the “big” direct though. More bummed that this means treehouse is less likely

Just checked and it seems what was privated was the Radiant Silvergun trailer from the September Direct. (And it might've been privated months ago)
Wayback machine shows playlist was updated "6 days ago" from the October 10th search result.

Also, Radiant Silvergun was taken down from the eshop at one point super early because the rating changed. So, doesn't seem like anything noteworthy.

Yeah, I remember something about it getting delisted and then re-released a week or two later - it's probably because of that.

better than a god damned february 9th direct two years in a row smh
There won’t be a direct every Feb 9th. It may just so happen this year like last year. The only constant is Nintendo as a company is usually unpredictable. It’ll be fine, there will be plenty to guess and speculate on when a direct will air.

Pretty sure this means nothing. Videos are private all the time.
Not to mention that Directs are never uploaded in advance. Never. You can check for yourself. The Direct video that is after the show on YouTube is just a record from the stream itself. If you look at the end of February 2022 Direct you can see that Takahashi lags for about a second, the same way he laged in the streams. It's the same.

Okay, I know you are celebrating that speculation will live in June. BUT. This also means no Treehouse. No Miyamoto showing Pikmin 4 live, no Pikmins at the booth. Nothing. This is the sad part of the story.

My bar for any presentation being good is if I walk away with two things I’m excited about. I walked away with 18 from the September 2022 Direct, so it was awesome in my book. Master Detective Archive Rain Code and Pikmin 4 were definitely my favorites from the show. Octopath II and Theatrhythm were nice announcements too.

Definitely not surprised Nintendo won’t be at E3. That show has been on decline for years and companies will still have separate Summer shows anyway. Definitely raises the importance of this show and September for Nintendo. I think we’ll get a decent spread of announcements in February especially with our last Direct being light on first party.

Not really?

The only part that is a firm no from your message is the single word “booth”
This is true. They could do a direct actually and have treehouse from Redmond. I’m doubting it but still possible to help third parties and the ESA out

Miyamoto, showing Pikmin 4 live in front of a people is dead. And other EPD developers too. The thing about E3 was that the huge number of EPD faces just flew to LA to appear on Treehouse. Yeah, there could be pre-recorded videos now or anything, but it won't be even in a same capacity. And most likely it will be Treehouse from USA, so no EPD whatsoever.

And through uncertainty, we'll get absolutely fucking nothing of value for seven months

Enjoy
I mean I was delighted with how the more dispersed roll out of last summer went, speaking to the industry at large not just Nintendo

The vehicle of the announcements has no impact on the actual content being announced. For someone who likes to do the digging, listen to podcasts discuss, etc. it was actually super nice to have everything paced out so more things got attention and coverage.

Plus you had unhinged moments from people not knowing what to expect like Sega showing way more of Frontiers than they were ready to in an open area with nothing but plants and their poor booth attendees to guard the screens lmao

The Twitter drops were never anything special to me seeing as the most exciting was Paper Mario (and given my own feelings about the game since completing it, I've been extremely jaded since). Partner showcases eroded my confidence minus Monster Hunter Rise; it's not so much that I'll watch them anyways but that even the third party games shown off were so very much not to my taste that after three (four?) of them I am absolutely soured on the prospect of feeling like there's nothing to look forward to.

I genuinely feel general Directs are the only way to learn of several Nintendo announcements because even out of, say, a random number like 9 first party games, odds are good I'll have at least one to perk my interest. To once again not have a consistent schedule means more eyerolls over having to deal with this monolithic silence.

It's super weird how people seem to think that E3 has been forcing Nintendo to do Directs in June that they didn't want to do.

The most likely outcome of Nintendo skipping E3 this year is that they do a non-E3 branded Nintendo Direct in (or around) June instead, and maybe even follow it with Treehouse Live too. "B-but 2022!" 2022 had them juggling XBC3 and Splatoon 3 after the latter was likely delayed internally, TotK had just been delayed, and the E3 plans themselves changed mid-year. Now, if there's a full year with E3 not on the table at all, they'll be able to just plan out 3 ordinary Directs, same as any other year. Not every past year had three general Directs even when E3 existed, so future years may not either, but June is just as much on the table for the regular Direct schedule as February and September.

Why can‘t have IGN also learned that there is a big Nintendo Event in July :(
or a Partner Mini Direct just to be more prepared for disappointment.

Man, as dumb as E3 can be sometimes, I hate that it's dying or never a guarantee anymore. It was always my favourite week.
Even before Covid E3 was dying, I get that. But it's just not the same without it.

I don't care if the entire thing is digital, it's just nice to have everything coordinated to a week. Heck, I'll even take just coordinating to June as a whole if that gives participants more time to prepare.

Not as big a fan of Summer Games Fest and how stretched out it is.

I'm so fucking excited

February and September may be spoken for, but now we have the uncertainty of summer to look forward to

....Why is this exciting?

Maybe I just don't understand "anticipate stuff on a forum" culture. If Directs were set in stone y'all can find some other random thing to speculate over.
