Ah yeah nona is 9. I knew n was there, but I just threw it on octo lol.
Oh! Sorry, I totally missed that's what you were going for :p. Didn't mean to sound like I was correcting you.

I read Gideon the Ninth not too long ago, so I've got the numeral prefixes pretty ingrained into my brain (really good book if you can get past the very unusual setting/worldbuilding!)

As a geometry teacher I am way too invested in this exchange.

... wait is Nona the Ninth literally just Ninth the Ninth

Actually wait that might be a plot point. I should really read the rest of that series

I don’t care about achievements, but trophies are strangely compelling. I just got the platinum for Sonic Frontiers, and I can tell you I wouldn’t have put that much time into the Switch version without a trophy saying that I did all the extra stuff.
The Sonic Frontiers trophies are probably the best I've seen in a game so far, they push you to finish it at 100% but you don't have to do extra hard stuff or really go outta your way to get the platinum. It doesn't feel impossible to do or make the game feels like work.

Completely unrelated to... anything, I was going through old Tales music and I forgot just how hard Jude's theme from Tales of Xillia goes. This is "give an inspirational speech before our last stand" kind of music (that or a speech about the power of friendship, which is probably more likely):

I’ve grown to like trophies. Especially in the early days trophies/achievements had a high “checklist” feel which made it a grind to complete. Kill this many enemies. Use this attack 500 times. Especially RPG’s like Tales of… were guilty of it.

But there are games which have fun trophies

Like Batman Arkham Asylum; before the final fight with joker, goons celebrate Batman getting this far with party hats and confetti, but if you start fighting them you will get the trophy “Partypooper”

Or like in Yakuza, where you watch a video at a certain place with sexy ladies and the trophy pops “I did it for the trophy!”

There are more fun examples and trophies have become far more accessible, so I would like to see Nintendo try to have their own spin on trophies/achievements

This looks really cool; definitely the first indie game to make me go "that looks exactly like an N64 game." the 4:3 screen helps lol

not to stumble in at bleary dawn to honk bad takes aloud

but Pokémon Sword was and is good

Mario graffiti appreciation, saw a few posted on Facebook. Quite talented individuals in the world.

Just a little over two weeks until GOTY 2023 drops.

The game is nothing Switch couldn't handle. I request Soleil to bring the game to one of only two platforms where the game won't bomb.

Currently their only title on Switch is Samurai Jack. But I suspect we'll see Valkyrie Elysium someday too.

I'm going to repost what I said the last time a trailer of this game was posted here because I feel it's still relevant:
Strong "will be so widely ignored by the general public that by the time it gets randomly late-ported to the Switch/Switch Pro/Switch Whatever a lot of people will believe it's a new game" vibes here.

Sword & Shield are my favorite Pokemon games on the Switch, without question. Going through Sword for the 5th time right now, and Galar overall for the 8th time.

Happy Sunday, Fami. We are in the waning days of January, and soon the glorious time of #TeamFebruary will be upon us.

Seriously, how is it February this week already???
It may almost be February, but Team January still always wins

Can't believe I heard Seth Rogen's DK voice for the first time during the Eagles game where, as an Eagles fan, EVERYTHING is breaking their way so far

They apparently just replaced the dialogue in the room.

I’ve seen people on Twitter say that it’s Sidebar Games trying to cover up employee abuse, but I honestly think it’s just the people who made the game making fun of themselves. At its core, Sidebar Games is two people ; a handful of others helped on Sports Story (one composer, one animator, five additional artists), but given their jobs I assume they were not involved in the making of the room in the first place.
