i still have not heard a single world from nintendo about new games such as Rhtythm Tengoku and Tomodachi Life both very successful I hope Nintendo did not ditch these IPS too.

Can someone post the translation of what Necro said?
DeepL

"Attention next week..."

"I hope Nintendo's next big announcement is Metroid

Otherwise if it's Direct I forgive"

then someone in replies asks if it's State of Play, he replies: "Appears to be “single ad” " and adds that he does not cover Sony.

It does sound like speculation, at least to me. And Nintendo would never reveal their new games only week before Fire Emblem, that's bad even for Nintendo standarts.

(Against my better judgement I will actually join in on this "type" of conversation, which is something I had told myself not to do when I first joined the site)

Meaning...
when has Necro been accurate in the past, particularly pertaining to first-party reveals and Nintendo Direct timing? To me this seems like him jumping on the possibility that marmolade’s posts = something next week. It’s either speculation or piggybacking
Yeah, I too, have been reading the thread.

I hope that for this type of game they choose a more suitable business model (eshop, free to play, etc).
Honestly, I would find it anachronistic to place a Rhythm Tengoku between a Super Mario game and a Zelda game, in the main line up of a console. But if we talk about Nintendo, and about us Nintendo fans, anything is always possible 😛

I really, really doubt Nintendo will do a General Direct next week. It's the week before Fire Emblem Engage, they wouldn't overshadow it like that.
However, a Mini with fewer and smaller announcements could fit. That or a random twitter drop.

If there was a good FE launch trailer, it wouldn't overshadow the game.

The simple Famiboards search reveals that the person "Necro" everyone is talking about heard about Mario Rabbids 2 Showcase like 2 days before it was announced in a Mini Partner itself. But this info was said in advance by Nate. Take whatever you will with this information. Other than that I can't find anything about what this person had right.

a Mini with Metroid Prime remake announcement and updates on the upcoming games ( Bayonetta Origins, Fire Emblem Engage Final Trailer, Kirby's return to Dreamland Deluxe, Octopath Travelers 2 demo, Splatoon 3 new season and Switch Sports uptade ) could potentially happen 1 week prior Engage release

They aren't announcing new Splatoon season that early when this one ends on March 1st. To get a little perspective the last one was announced about 2 weeks before it went live. Announcing it in early February could work, or it's a separate Twitter drop.

Well, February has Kirby and if Direct's in that month they'd be overshadowing that, a game with the potential to sell at least 2m+.

Don't think Nintendo cares. They have contractual obligations to third party reveals in the Direct. If they were happened before Nintendo picked a date for its own games, Direct still would happen.

Could an advertisement for games overshadow an actual game? Nintnedo could just include Engage within that Direct.

Not that I think a Direct is next week anyway.

Exactly, the “Nintendo doesn’t want to overshadow ____” is such a stupid mentality, we’re all expecting at least one Nintendo game a month, so I guess Directs are off the table y’all!

(Also Engage is not gonna be the reason there won’t be a Direct next week, remember the March 2018 Direct that aired a week before Kirby?)

There's often announcements around the same time as their fiscal releases so I am guessing they will have some kind of Direct one month from now.

"It can't come to Switch because it struggled elsewhere" is not a legit reason for a game to miss Switch because port studios always optimize the hell out of the games. We have plenty of Switch ports perform better than base PS4.

Also optimization always brings down the size. Sometimes to the one fifth of the original.

All of this is just a breakfast, the real main meal starts after January 20th so from the Monday January 23rd.

I am not rulling out Team January completely as after FE happens, the last week of January, they could use it's recent release as a promotion, they did that countless times.

Nintendo generally avoid the week of their own releases and do have a tendency to go a week or two after their latest release for Directs. I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand that they want to push ahead with marketing for FE Engage before a Direct. I know people like to dismiss 'patterns' as not having any meaning, but Nintendo are a huge corporation with a lot of moving parts and a massive amount of data (more than we have) about how their own marketing works. Some marketing windows are obvious to figure out - like September Directs coming just ahead of TGS. There may well be something about early to mid February that 'works' for Nintendo's marketing cycle, most years, even if we're not privy to exactly what that is; similarly, Nintendo may well prefer to have their ducks in a row (e.g. Direct just after the latest release) for any number of reasons.

I got the impression Necro's tweets were pointing to a one off announcement, as opposed to a showcase or presentation, but given that's machine translation it's still pretty unclear to me what they're hinting at, other than potentially something Nintendo related happening this coming week.

I still don't fully agree on why is it absolutely bad to have a General Direct the week FE launches, when Nintendo could show a full launch trailer + gameplay in the Direct, and therefore have so much more attention of people who wasn't interested in the first place.
It is a niche game, showing it to the broader public of a General Direct is a good thing, it can attract potential buyers who wouldn't even care to watch the trailers on Youtube or Twitter.

"Wow, TotK looks incredible, Metroid Prime made me cry and Kirby looks fun, but until then I could give this new JRPG a try!"

I see much more "dangerous" for FE Engage to have a Twitter drop of a single game the same week (let's say Prime HD or WW/TP HD), than a General Direct which would help to push FE Engage marketing campain.

Nintendo typically wants all attention on a new game the week it releases. A direct takes away from that, because everyone’s attention would be sucked up by Tears of the Kingdom and/or any other major announcements.

If we get the Prime announcement this month, I count it as a moral victory for team Janurary.

It's like not making the playoffs, but still beating your rival team.

Worst case scenario, we’ll probably still get trailers for Kirby and Bayonetta Origins, so at least we have that to look forward to.

I am quite curious to see the next SaGa game, which is likely to show up soon (probably in a Direct) given that it was trademarked by SE recently, and I haven't even played a single game in the series!

I'm mostly (superficially) interested in the game's artstyle tbh, 2D, HD-2D, full 3D?

Kinda secretly hoping team January takes the L since Arlo’s big prediction video isn’t coming out till the end of the month and I don’t want it be out of date cuz those are so fun to watch ;P

The week of release is the week of reviews for pretty much every Nintendo release. They want gaming websites and streamers covering that angle, giving a final push to a release and potentially convincing fence-sitting customers a game is worth their time.

The question to ask with this is: why would Nintendo bunch up their marketing and tread on their own toes? They can't control everything, but spreading their message increases the chances it's heard.

I do think there's a possibility a Direct happens immediately after FE Engage, which would still give us the January Direct.

Just give me S/NES NSO update
