Well in that brochure you linked, single-player games like BotW that do have cloud saves don't have the Switch Online banner.Still, ToTK is 1 player game, so if this is real it's probably for some minor integration. Isn't it listed because if you want saves you need to use Switch Online?
Yeah, first I thought that it's not showing with the older games but it's clearly not showing even with the most recent one.Well in that brochure you linked, single-player games like BotW that do have cloud saves don't have the Switch Online banner.
Maybe there's some Dark Souls style of integration with online features, like other players leaving notes in the overworld but not 'invading' you (otherwise it'd be listed with >1 player).
How'd you find that .pdf? It's on a European production server. I can try to dig up the Winter 2022 version. Wish me luck lmaoThere has to be the new online brochure somewhere already to check it.
It also can reffer to the fact that you will get ToTK DLC if you have Switch Online Expansion Pack. The TotK page on the Nintendo website states that, “This game supports: Save Cloud Data” maybe that’s what the symbol represents?
The .pdf was on the Nintendo France website. Seems like the Winter 2022 is not out yet (or at least not in the digital version) can't find it anywhere and I searched a lot of european countries already. But if this new version is already in the public I might have some luck to find it here in the local store. I believe these were always exclusive to the European markets so that's neat.If it's fake then it's quite the attention to detail, they even used the zen garden pattern from the website but in an appropriately green color

Either way, in my opinion, if this promotional page is real, then the fact that they're already (but not surprisingly) making promotional material is more substantial news than what's in the promotion. It also can reffer to the fact that you will get ToTK DLC if you have Switch Online Expansion Pack.
I mean we will get some news at least by early February, which is like only 5 weeks from now. Or they put the reverse card and do the Direct just a following week after FE releases, they always love to do these "last week, we released this game, we hope you enjoyed it".Either way, in my opinion, if this promotional page is real, then the fact that they're already (but not surprisingly) making promotional material is more substantial news than what's in the promotion.
So, Online + Zelda + Flying stuff ?

Oh please let me play as Bio Rex in Hyrule...F-Zeldo
If it was called F-Beldo nobody would care about itF-Zeldo
The BotW banner in last year's brochure doesn't have an NSO label but has a separate banner for its Expansion Pass on the right. The Online label can also refer to the Expansion Pass right? Getting the DLC with that might be enough reason for them to cross-promote Zelda and NSO.
It wouldn’t make sense for it to be referring to a potential future DLC expansion because purchasing DLC doesn’t require NSO at all. And it being single player doesn’t matter either, as the 2021 brochure lists single player games like Pokémon Legends: Arceus and New Pokémon Snap as supporting NSO too (which they do). Oddly some other games aren’t marked as supporting NSO even though they do, though, like WarioWare: Get It Together! and Miitopia…The BotW banner in last year's brochure doesn't have an NSO label but has a separate banner for its Expansion Pass on the right.
Though what you say is a good explanation since it's not like their brochure design rules must remain consistent year to year, and they haven't revealed the Expansion Pass yet so the NSO banner could be a way of saying "stay tuned". Hard to reconcile a gaming having that NSO banner and being single player, when in that brochure LukasManak linked above, it's all multiplayer games that have that.
But then I remember during BotW development, that developers would leave notes for each other in the overworld as suggestions or observations. Then I also remember that the Hero's Path tool in the Expansion Pass was originally a devtool. So would I be surprised if they incorporated some online element involving scattering hints or treasure throughout the overworld? Absolutely not.
You're right I missed that. Arceus is listed as 1 player but it has online trading. And it being single player doesn’t matter either, as the 2021 brochure lists single player games like Pokémon Legends: Arceus and New Pokémon Snap as supporting NSO too.
These titles...I can't lmao.

A question for all of you:
What concepts from prior Zelda games that never made it in do you think will make it into The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
And, I mean, outside of prior concepts that were meant to be in Breath of the Wild.
Games like Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds, Phantom Hourglass, etc.
Yes, even the "minor" games.
Better yet, what do you hope will make it into Tears of the Kingdom from previous Zelda games?
I... actually wouldn't mind a "meta-dungeon" or "main dungeon" of some sort, like what we had in Phantom Hourglass, but mainly how it was envisioned in Ocarina of Time (before it was scrapped). I like the idea of a dungeon that you keep going back to in order to complete. It doesn't even have to be the "main dungeon" but perhaps like "side dungeon" (albeit a big one). Think about how the Coliseum storyline in Kingdom Hearts (the first one) still happened in congruence with the rest of the storyline.
I hope to read some interesting answers from you all!
Wait gimme the cliffnotes
What am I supposed to be shocked about?
is it the flyer with the screenshots? was I right?
To be fair the presence of online features, even if not new to 3D Zelda, is a pretty cool development if the contents of that flyer are accurate. Even if it's just leaving balloons in the sky with hints or treasure for other players.
Remember this btw?
But yeah the framing of it being huge shocking news is ... a lot. I guess that's how it rolls with YouTube thumbnails.
Yes! "SHOCKING NEWS"
What's the news? That a flyer has Nintendo Switch Online on it.
HHHHUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEI wonder how those videos will be titled when we get ACTUAL news.
It would be a little weird though, because everyone is playing as link. If this is the case this game deals with some weird multiverse shenanigansThe online feature is Soulslike invasions.
I always assumed rethinking the “play by yourself” convention of Zelda was ultimately referring to Tri Force Heroes, not Breath of the Wild. I believe they were talking about the future of the series in general, not specifically Zelda Wii U.Remember this btw?
The Jan '13 Direct they were presenting this at specifically says "Our mission in developing this Zelda game for Wii U". A game like Triforce Heroes is what you'd expect as a 2D spiritual successor to Four Swords / Adventures which were already 9 years old at that point, they're what you would expect from a 'multiplayer 2D Zelda'. Whereas introducing some multiplayer component in a mainline 3D Zelda title would be unconventional and they experimented with that in Wind Waker HD soon after.I always assumed rethinking the “play by yourself” convention of Zelda was ultimately referring to Tri Force Heroes, not Breath of the Wild. Ah, I must have misremembered that then. I guess that does make more sense, but then I’m very curious about what kind of multiplayer concepts they had for BotW that went unused…The Jan '13 Direct they were presenting this at specifically says "Our mission in developing this Zelda game for Wii U". I believe it's just for saving data on cloud. Here, https://www.nintendo.com/en-ca/store/products/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-switch/PvE coming to Zelda

Anyone know of other pure single player games with that same NSO logo?

Compare with this brochure from last year. BotW, Dread, etc. have cloud saves but no red banner. There are games with '1' listed under TV, handheld, tabletop mode (Pokemon Arceus, Sword/Shield, Splatoon), and they have red NSO banners. The '1' indicates there is no local multiplayer supported in that mode, the red banner indicates there is online functionality.I believe it's just for Save Cloud Data. That's a good, valid point, so I stand corrected. We really need (i really hope) a January update on this game. I think the half way point is January 12th. Nintendo likes checkpoints.Compare with this brochure from last year. BotW, Dread, etc. have cloud saves but no red banner. So my interpretation of the TotK banner, if it is authentic and accurate, is that (1) no local / co-op multiplayer (2) some online functionality through NSO.
Internally, Terrey Town is called "UMii Village". UMii is what the Mii-based NPCs in BotW are called. Perhaps, they originally wanted Terrey Town to be populated by Miis from all across the Miiverse?Ah, I must have misremembered that then. Tarrey Town was originally intended to be a city building sim with customizable houses so I would not be surprised.Internally, Terrey Town is called "UMii Village".
