Not that it’s really all that surprising considering how non-evil he looks compared to the other three, but Mauvier is indeed recruitable. Wish they had at least tried to make him look somewhat more menacing lol
 














Today's tweets. Mostly old stuff from the website (although I find it interesting that they decided to tweet Fogato and Hortensia at the same time... I don't think there's any more old stuff from the website left to cover) although we get an explanation of staves as well.

Looks like daggars cause poison, and the poison effect stacks if you continue attacking the same enemy w/ daggars. Also, thieves can open doors like usual, but you can also choose to attack a door until it breaks open.

Dropping the tweets for Fogato and Hortensia at the same time clears out that backlog. We might start seeing new info with the next batch.

Assuming we get the Emblem Lyn video on Thursday, I almost wonder, as unlikely as it may be, if we're getting a big new trailer at The Game Awards, which happen soon before the scheduled Friday tweets. Maybe we'll get The DreamTM aka a TGA trailer followed by an Engage Direct on Friday or early next week lol.
 














Today's tweets. We get Lyn's video, as expected, but we also get a bit of extra new info besides that.

  • Units w/ the "Coordination" (backup?) battle style can perform chain attacks on an enemy an allied unit attacks if they are in range.
  • Units w/ the Covert battle style double terrain bonuses.

I think there’s a chance. Not sure where I’d land on percentages… maybe a 1/3 chance? Seems like a good opportunity to grab the conversation over the holiday and effectively go ‘yeah 2023 starts with Fire Emblem, it’s only 6 weeks out’
 
So 4 waves of DLC next year. I think it said the first wave is coming right away at launch but the screen came and went too quickly lol

Can I say that it's kinda shameless to announce the Expansion pass this early?
Like it was a given that there would be DLC but they could have waited to announce it closer to launch day.
They should have shown a new story trailer for the TGA, it would have been more fitting for the event.
 
Wow, can't believe I was right about a new trailer at the TGA's lol. Not a very long trailer though, and post-launch DLC isn't some kind of huge thing given how every FE game gets DLC, so I hope we're still getting an Engage Direct soon lol.

I know there's no point pretending like the DLC wasn't already worked on and in the pipeline, but showing it off over a month before release feels kinda tacky.

Where have you been for the last 10+ years? Advertising DLC before a game releases is common practice in the industry. Nintendo announced the DLC for BOTW and Xenoblade 3 before the games were released.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused as to why people are complaining about Engage having DLC annouced prior to release, this is a pretty common practice and has been for a while now lol. Which includes several Nintendo games, including Three Houses, so it's not as if FE is new to this practice.

Even more hilarious is that this isn't even the first Fire Emblem game to have DLC announced so far in advance. That goes to either Awakening or Fates on the 3DS if memory serves.

My issue is when the DLC seems like content that was stripped from the game and not added content. Obviously can't tell if that's what this will be but it's unlikely tbh.
 
Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude are all one Emblem.

This gives a lot of fire to the theory that Eirika and Ephraim are one Emblem.

New characters, new maps and a separate story from the main, chapter-based story.

Also they are adding Divine Paralogues which is where you get some characters and items (Tiki in the first one)

Ooh huh, interesting. The sky castle (Soradel?) looks a lot more fleshed out than Garreg Mach. I mean, there are actual minigames here (Wyvern riding looks fun). Also yay, finally, signs of that overworld towns/dungeons thing in that first trailer, wondering if there'll be similarly fleshed out or more simple in design?

Also wow you can really see the benefits of a good art style, the base sections don't look that much more technically competent than Three Houses, but it looks a whole lot better visually

I think everyone you would want to be playable was in at launch (which is a good thing). Only thing I could see is like a prequel type thing with Macuil, Cichol etc. But it's fine the way it is and a good farewell to the Fodlan era.

Can't wait to use the Edelgard Emblem! I'll be buying that pass day one!

Also Rosado looks really cute! I wonder what their pronouns are? Seems like they'll either be a trans girl, non-binary, or a gender nonconforming man (like Forrest in Fates?). Super cute design either way, I can't wait to play as them!

I saw in the 3 houses animated section when they are all pictures on screen together, there’s a moment where Claude comes in upside down from the top in a reference to the box art, that’s hilarious

I mean, that's pretty clearly not the case in this specific instance. For it to have been content stripped from the game, three houses would have to have had two rings and none of the other games had more than one, or otherwise conspicuously not have a ring in the base game, which isn't the case.

Could it have been included for free in the base game? Sure, yeah, but that's true of any dlc ever, which could always be free, but in many cases wouldn't be. What realistically would have happened if they weren't charging for DLC is that it would have just been Byleth, same as the game already has, and nothing else.

Yup. I think one of the possible reasons they are dlc is because of story purpose (they are not in the murals like the others) so I don't think it falls under "cut content". But having them day 1 can feel like a burn so I understand people disappointment.

Ha, I knew they'd save the Three Houses trio for DLC. Interesting to see who else they'll pick from the series. Maybe they'll lean into Heroes a bit seeing as there's some common themes between this and the mobile game

I hate Day 1 paid DLC, but i'm a part of the problem because i want the Three House leaders ....

But i hope we also get the post-timeskip designs with that pack, i prefer those to the pre-timeskip school designs.

What I usually do is ignore all the DLC until a second playthrough and then decide if I really want any of them to spice that up. I’m certainly not paying for expansion passes without knowing exactly what the future expansions I’m paying for actually are.

I’m way more interested in actual story expansions than I am in just extra summons in a game that already has enough of them to equip your whole team anyway.

So, looking at what your $30 gets you, I’m more interested in wave 3 (extra character units, rather than emblems) and primarily interested in wave 4 (new scenario, characters, maps). So I’ll likely just wait and see exactly how much I’m getting in that final wave. If it’s just one battle map, I can do without it, if it’s a nice chewy expansion, I’ll probably pick it up at the end of the DLC run.

This first content pack will be followed by three additional waves throughout 2023. Exact release dates for Wave 2, Wave 3 and Wave 4 have not been confirmed yet, but players can expect an update in the future. This will also include details about the "new story scenario" in Wave 4.

Age of calamity DLC seem like it had no impact. Might’ve have even done poorly.

Maybe that’s why for Three Hopes. But I don’t think that’s it. I think Three Hopes was just completed fully. I can’t really think of anybody to add as playable from Three Houses. Golden Path is probably the best they could’ve done, but looks like they found it unnecessary
