Did you know that Skull Kids are referencing...skulls?

The sky islands will probably feature different enemies from those on the surface.

The surface has Lynels, I hope the sky island have Iron Knuckles or Darknuts.

Random observation - why does this Ganondorf have rounded ears?
Screen_Shot_2019_06_13_at_10.04.40_AM.0.png

The Ganondorf from TP and WW had pointed ears. Oddly enough, OoT Ganondorf (the same person) does not. Feels like a retcon.
Maybe the Triforce made his ears pointy, but he had pointy ears in his execution scene in TP, before he got the Triforce of Power.
I guess there's a difference between his ears being 'pointed' and his ears being 'Hylian' though. Hylian ears are long and pointy. But ToTK Ganondorf's ears have no point at all, they look like normal human ears.

Since Ganondorf in TP and WW are both dead, I assume ToTK Ganondorf is a reincarnation, so different features makes sense... but it's interesting that with all of the Gerudo in BotW having pointed ears, this version of Ganondorf does not.

We already assume he's ancient - older than the 10,000 fight between the high-tech Shiekah and Calamity Ganon. Nabooru and other OoT Gerudo are drawn with round ears, so the OoT-era Gerudo do not yet have pointed ears from co-mingling with Hylians.

Basically this Ganondorf is old as fuuuck. But we knew that already.

Imagine the cruelty if there are enemies on the sky islands that try to throw or push us off an island.
I can see there being flying enemies that swoop down and do just that. I’m not so sure there will be enemy camps on the islands like the surface, the islands themselves are more of a Devine and spiritual nature were I think we will be mostly puzzling, fixing the master sword and warping to who knows where. The 2nd teaser were link is fighting the ceiling worm, seemed like it could be inside one of the islands, but I’m hoping for some sort of civilization being on the islands as well so I’m guessing no.

That's a good question. I just want to point out (no pun intended) that OOT Ganondorf only has round ears at the beginning of the game.

but after the time skip (so after getting the triforce), his model is updated to have pointy ears.

(Should be noted that sadly the 3DS remake doesn't have this change but that game broke a lot of design choices from the original so I tend to ignore it).

Edit:
Found a better image comparing the models:

Ganondorf already having pointy ears during the execution in TP doesn't seem odd to me. I don't think he received the triforce of power at this moment. Most likely it happened the moment Link went back in time. It's just that Ganondorf probably didn't know he had it before that (Just like Link was not aware of possessing the triforce of courage). And we know that, in the child timeline, the triforce was split the moment Link went back in time as he already had the triforce on his hand at the very end of OOT.

Regarding BOTW Gerudo having pointy ears, I think it can be explained by their long history of breeding with Hylians. Whatever version of Ganondorf we get in TotK, he was probably born more than 10 000 years ago so there are definitely some genetic changes in the Gerudo race after so much time.
The same explanation could be used for the Sheikah's red eyes.

So here I am thinking I am really smart and I will just google what the meaning of Tears are in the Shinto religion as a way to get insight on TOTK. I didn't get what I had hoped for but I did get the origin story of Japan. I was surprised at all the references to the trailers that we have seen so far and that could be found in this origin story of Japan. Obviously Zelda has it's own origin story, however, it becomes clear that perhaps a lot of the inspiration for the series and the back story of TOTK may be driven by this story. Its slow, so I thought I would post this as it could refer to things like the ceremony we see with Deity figure at the beginning of the last trailer, the large tower, the death of the mother goddess, and the creation of 3 Deities to rule which remind me of Dinraal, Farosh and Naydra.

ZANAGI AND IZANAMI , in Japanese mythology, are the universal parents and creators who produced the land, mountains, rivers, waves, trees, fields, wind, fog, and the deities ruling these things. They appeared on the Takama no Hara, or High Plain of Heaven, as brother and sister. Standing on the Bridge of Heaven, they churned the ocean's water with a jeweled spear, then drew the spear up. The brine that dripped from the tip of the spear became the first Japanese island, Onogoro. Izanagi and Izanami descended onto the island, erected there a high pillar and a hall, then circled the pillar in opposite directions. When they met, they were united, and thus the islands of Japan were born.
After the birth of the islands, various other deities were born of the two creator-parents. But when the fire god Kagutsuchi was born, the mother goddess Izanami was burned to death by the heat. Like the Greek Orpheus, Izanagi descended to the land of Yomi (the underworld) to bring back his wife. His attempt ended in failure when he peered into a dark room with his torch against Izanami's wishes, only to find there her decaying corpse. Pursued by the enraged Izanami and her subordinate demons, Izanagi fled. Finally, the two deities stood face to face at the entrance of the underworld and agreed upon a divorce. It was decided that Izanagi should rule the living and Izanami the dead. Izanagi then returned to the earth, where he purified himself in a stream. From his purified eyes and nose appeared three great deities: Amaterasu (the sun goddess), Tsukiyomi (the moon god), and Susano-o (the violent god). These deities were appointed rulers of heaven, night, and the ocean. Izanagi thereupon returned to the celestial abode, where he remained.

Re: Zelda lore.

Tbf, I don't think anyone in the Zelda team huuuuugely cares about it, and inconsistencies has been all over the places for years, so I wouldn't really look too much into it (and I think no better point to prove it that they happily swapped Kakariko and Great Hyrule Forest locations close to development's end) . Anyway, if someone wanted to go down the rabbit hole, even though the OoT Temple of Time would be the same place as the Sealed Grounds, I mean, canonically the Wind Waker's flood is part of BOTW timeline, so there are several Hyrules. Both the Forgotten Temple and the Great Plateu could have been the place 'were the Kingdom of Hyrule was born' (gosh, BOTW is so far on the timeline that it could even be several other Kingdoms of Hyrule we don't know yet or even ever will).
Regarding lore, I’m of the mind that there’s two separate distinctions here.

First is the lore regarding the overall series continuity and timeline. I don’t think the BotW team cares that much about that stuff. They’ll slip in references, but want a vibe of mysticism. You’re not going to have hard evidence of the exact timeline spot relative to other games.

Second though, is the history and worldbuilding of BotW’s world itself - in isolation and not related to previous games. The Zonai ruins, placement of specific structures around the world - everything created specifically for BotW. THAT stuff I think can heavily influence TotK. I genuinely do think a lot of effort was put into that aspect of the game, especially after going through the Creating a Champion book.

Every day I thank the Lord™ that the Zelda team don't care about lore and continuity nearly as much as the fans

The sky islands will probably feature different enemies from those on the surface.

The surface has Lynels, I hope the sky island have Iron Knuckles or Darknuts.

I think those enemies are more likely to appear in the underground/dungeons.

I recall a fake leak that was, well, a fake leak, but it had an idea of a big worm that could burrow from island to island. Thought that concept was cool.

Still weird to me that 3 teasers in and we haven't heard any characters and the only ones we've seen so far are Zelda, Link and Ganondorf.

I'm scared to find out who voices Ganondorf.

I really want to hear Ganondorf's German voice. The German dub rocked in BotW (except Impa, who has the same VA for her OLD and her young incarnation... and she sounded too young for Old Impa, and too old for Young Impa lmao).

I had been wondering if we’d see something new from the game at Nintendo Live. This is already nice. Maybe there will be other stuff if we’re lucky.
I think I have the perfect spot for that statue on my front lawn. That green arm is going to take some time getting use to tho. I think I will add to Link holding my count down calendar so my neighbors know not to disturb me from May 12 till Christmas of 2023.

Too bad this doesn't really tell us anything new, lol.

Nice statue, tho.

Looks like they merged the classic tunic and the champions outfit together.

It's more a merge of the Hylian Tunic from BOTW and the Champion's Shirt.

But in the more recent footage, the big piece on the chest seems to have been made smaller. Upgrades, perhaps?

Actually that arm is pretty sic up close, ok I’m used to it now. I want to see the back of his hand, we need some one there to take that picture! It’s the symbol from the delay trailer holding the master sword that’s glowing on the back of his hand that I can’t make out what it is. Also no vials on his belt?

here's the thing: how do you make the soft ghibli man real
With a slightly more triangular nose and not quite so luscious lips

Basically, much to the chagrin of all peoples everywhere, I'm saying to make Link less hot.

Wow I never closely inspected the trailer to spot that. I wonder if Ganondorf uses magic to round out his ears since he has qualms being part Hylian.

But for a dormant Ganondorf and we still don't know where this truly lies in the timeline except being at the end (and quite possibly a convergence of the timelines because of Hyrule Warriors if Nintendo ever decides to make those games canon) is it possible that the theory of there actually being multiple ganons/ganondorfs running around possible? Not just 1 incarnation at a time, but rather multiple bodies that are left dormant/behind as he moves on to newer ones, so if one dies he can just go back to a old one.
Ganondorf existence isn't reincarnation, but a curse that is specified as whenever Link is reincarnated/resurfaces, his curse ensures Ganondorf to return/follow. But in every game the opposite seems to happen. Ganondorf has been back long before Link and is always ahead taking over Hyrule or is much older.

Since we are going to be in the skies, I really want them to do cool things with the clouds. How awesome would it be to see some lenticular clouds over Mount Lanayru, something like this

It's kind of insane to me that they gave their hot protagonist a creepy ass possessed arm. I mean that's gutsy, right? I think it's pretty gutsy.

Nintendo has seemingly taken quite some cues from Ghibli's Princess Mononoke (pic)
n8xdp0hir0671.png

And looking back at the scrapped ideas from BotW there are a lot of these ideas coming back for the sequel.

But yeah, I feel it is pretty gutsy too, I have to wonder in how much detail we will see the moment Link's arm is getting ripped off.

Warriors get hotter the more scars and bruises they have showing all their battles so prepare for Cyborg Link, who breaths heavily and ends up being someone's father where he has joined the dark side enjoying his new powers. Triforces are for babies.

What event is the statue from?

Yeah, would love to get a tiny bit of gameplay.

I wonder if we can swap between Hylian hood covered or uncovered. I assume yes. Link having a cape is so fitting for a game set in the skies.

As cool as it would be, if even flight sim haven’t done it I doubt Zelda will.

It's a skeletal figure, so, it wouldn't have ears, just more skull, and earholes. Have a feel around your own ears, or Google and observe an image of a skull - Unless that part was mummified, you don't typically see the ears. Of course, this isn't a human being, but the skeleton of a fantastical one, but the point would remain that the outer structure of an ear is comprised of flesh most of the time. The part where it might've been pointed is flesh, which, along with the rest of his body, would've decayed over a long time. If you also observe the heads of a Bokoblin and Stalkoblin, for example, you'll see that this is consistent, as the latter doesn't have pointed ears.

Are you talking about Ganondorf? The one we see is mummified, his ears are visible and we can see earrings.
