It's very quick. No talking after it loads and you can just skip directly to the lobby.
Any idea how swiftly Nintendo wields the ban hammer for people who disconnect?

I don’t want to, but if a baby starts crying (even in a 3 minute match) I have to bounce…

Okay. I beat hero mode last night, and it was great. Quality levels as expectrd and on a bigger scale too. Difficulty was alright except for maybe 1 or 2 levels where it felt like it took me forever to beat lol. I'm also about to make it to A rank!

My first post on this forum is going to me agreeing that I had to break up with Jet. I will play it for fun in Open battles but thats it. I moved to my second main of Heavy Splattling and will probaly test Hydra when i unlock it. Both Angle Shooter and Ink Vac needs buffs imo. Inc Vac never feels like a special weapon to me, it always feel like a mdeiocre staller that has a high chance of getting you killed even when you used it in a safe spot. Overall, Jet Squelcher feels like I am playing without a Sub or Special and that bites.

I'm sorry it had come to this for you.

Heavy Splatling is a weapon I only picked up relatively late in Splatoon 2. Never tried Hydra before this week and I'm shocked by how much it seems custom-made to tell me I don't need to feel bad about all the things I suck at. If I die in a close-range shoot-out it's not because my reflexes and movements suck, but because the Hydra never stood a chance anyway. The error really was taking up a position where someone could get close in the first place, and positioning is a skill I actually enjoy getting better at. And Autobombs perfectly compliment the playstyle. As does Booyah Bomb.

Best use of Ink Vac I've witnessed was someone riding the tower towards our base sucking up my Booyah Bomb that was meant to end overtime. But the best use I personally got out of Ink Vac was learning there's a small window of vulnerability between the end of the vacuuming phase and when the projectile can be shot, which I take advantage of now to unload a full burst of Splatling fire into poor Ink Vac wielders.

At least the Splattershot Pro still feels okay since it has the Crab Tank to kind of make up for the Angle Shooter. For me .96 Gal has crept up above the Jet, too, even though it shares the Ink Vac and the Sprinkler may as well not exist in half the modes either, but with its better main kill power the weapon is less reliant on an impactful sub or special.

So I've done a quick google search, how common are connection errors meant to be, it seems there is a patch coming for it, but....
When Splatoon 2 released, I didn't have a 5Ghz internet band so I kept getting d/c all the time, I finally upgraded my router to a 5Ghz and it worked fine.
Now Splatoon 3, I've only done like 2 online matches, because I can't connect, and when I do connect it just crashes.... Just spent a few minutes trying to get into a lobby, constant errors, then I finally got into a match, error 10 seconds in......

Is this something that should be addressed in the upcoming patch, or am I just fucked with shitty internet? I don't have connection issues with other games, btw.

I didn't think inkvac was good at first but as me and my teammates are getting familiar at what it's good at it's getting much stronger. It's super strong when used together with teammates around an objective, there's nothing better than sitting on tower and watching the score tick up when the enemy can't do anything to stop you. It's great stopping a clam push in its tracks, nice defending the zone, and can be great for shielding the rainmaker carrier. But because anyone can just walk around and hit you from behind you basically always have to use it with a teammate supporting you, which makes it a different kind of support weapon. Where other supports focus on enhancing your teammates' abilities like tacticooler, for inkvac your teammates abilities enhance inkvac and allow it to shine.

Another great detail. Shoes actually affect your character's height. Bigger shoes help you see higher while aiming. I'm not sure if this is also the case for 2

It is a thing in 2, it was just a lot harder to test. I believe it doesn't affect your hurtbox either.

I'm coming around on Ink Vac specifically for Tower Control after playing the mode a bunch more today. As you say, the special takes team coordination to shine, but pushing the tower naturally takes care of that requirement. So now I'm looking for a weapon with good stopping power in its main and sub, since Ink Vac is purely for buying additonal seconds and points on offense. Mormer Tower Control hero Jet Squelcher sadly still isn't that.

I also have almost no doubt Vac will be a force in Splat Zone battles at the tournament level. It's just in solo Series where I don't expect it'll reach above middling even at X-rank.

Had some good Turf War matches today. Had a winning streak, including one match where my team was very much overwhelmed, but we managed to clutch it out with a mere 0.9% difference.

In at least one of those matches I felt like I might have made a difference between win and loss, as I popped out my Crab Tank and laid down some long range ink into the enemy turf within the last couple of seconds. I might have also really contributed to the miracle win mentioned in the previous paragraph, as I took a sec to fill up some unpainted spots on our half of the map.

Then I went on to play Salmon Run, met Cohozuna and we managed to defeat him, despite a very awkward map and Boss spawning (he was right next to them at the water’s edge) and one of our players clearly not knowing how to damage him and ineffectively shooting at him while holding on to a Power Egg.

Somehow just got scorch gorge 6 times in a row. It’s a fun map but that’s a bit much.

(Edit) ended up being 8 times in a row. Crazy.

I figured this would be the best thread to ask: did anyone get the Splatoon 3 OLED Switch?

I'm trying to check something, and it would be of great help if you could take and post a pic of the side of the box (the contents, importer, etc.) and what region it is.

Thanks in advance!

Is there any way to get the amiibo equipment without actually owning the amiibo?
I want to get some of the pearl and marina stuff but the prices are crazy.
Without resorting to piracy, no.

That said at least in here, all old Splatoon amiibos have seen a reprint at standard RRP.

I freaking love the Alterna hub, exploring the islands and clearing the fuzzy ooze, (and getting goodies for doing so) is so satisfying.

This video is a great overview of why squid game the third looks so good, at least as far as the UI goes

As far as other graphical details go, the hat that you get from helping Crusty Sean on Splatnet 3 is wild. There's something about its transparent mesh that looks way better than you would expect for such a minor detail on a Switch game.

So does this game not allow you to switch weapons when playing in a group of friends? Splatoon 2 allowed this so I'm assuming I'm missing something obvious or it's an oversight that will be fixed shortly. Kind of a big step back if we have to make a new group anytime someone wants to change their weapon.

I was playing with my partner earlier and they were able to change their weapon between games. Select "Change Gear, then Go!" and you'll be able to do it.

Do people really suck at Salmon Run or is the mode way harder now?
It's frustrating seeing people using their two specials during the 1st shift when there isn't any need, and then not being able to make it past the 2nd one. Very rarely encountered these type of players in S2. I can't get past Profreshional +2 :(

Add the communication errors at the end and it really takes the fun out of playing :/

Edit:

Just went to pick up a catalog price and the game froze. ARRRRGH! After 3~4 minutes of a still screen (while the music kept playing), pressing the Home button and closing the software takes a while and then it produces an error: "! The software was closed because an error occurred."

It's the third time it has happened since launch. This is probably the buggiest piece of software Nintendo has directly developed in years. WTF?!

After a match there doesn't seem to be an option to do this? It just says stay with this team or leave, and if I leave I disconnect with the entire group.

I am so upset, I had a 4 win streak going on tower control series and then my fifth game didn’t start before the modes changed and I got thrown into rainmaker which I promptly went 0-3 in. I’m so upset I was so close to getting the 5 win streak :/

I just finished the story mode, but I skipped a lot of stages. I enjoyed what I played well enough, but I'm more interested in playing the multiplayer modes for now. The story was neat! Glad they've taken some cues from octo expansion

Might go back for 100% over time

Apparently Cohozuna's stomach is a weak spot? One thing I wish they would change is the seemingly random scale rewards, where you can get gold for failing to kill him but a couple of bronze for getting the win.

turf war lets you change gear, anarchy doesn't

I love this game but somehow it's even more idiosyncratic than 2
I thought so, thanks for the confirmation.

Hopefully this is just an oversight and it's fixed soon. Otherwise the seemingly cool lobby area is a one step forward, two steps back kind of thing.

The upcoming DLC campaign should feature Pearl and Marina, so I think we'll get a reprint then. However that will still be some ways off...

Can Nintendo please fix this game and the online and Ultra Stamp
Is Ultra Stamp that weak? I honest can't really if weapons and specials got stronger or weaker or not, but then I mainly play Salmon Run.
Also, speaking of online, a Japanese article about Splatoon games' connection and "kill judgement" is trending on Twitter right now, and even though I don't understand the technical aspect of things, I found 2 interesting points that article mentions: 1/your main weapon damage and kill calculation is done on your side; 2/bomb damage and kill calculation is done on the opponent side.

Thank you for this. I've been abusing this a lot today :p
My poor Jet Squelcher 💔, I hope it gets buffed.

What I understand is that the data for your position is sent so slow that your fate is sealed after the first hit even if you escape.
That matches with my experience, it's horrible.

yeah, cos on your opponent's screen, they see that they hit you, so to them you're supposed to be splatted. On the other, even though you can see that your bomb hit the opponent, it won't result in a splat if the opponent already dodged the bomb on their screen. Now, I don't know how much of this is on Nintendo, but the article above does mention that Splatoon's online is the way it is because it has to take everyone's internet speed into consideration, not everyone has constant high-speed connection. Apparently, they can make the data exchange much faster but that would affect people with average internet, which I think is the majority of the players?

When are we expecting the first update? I'd say somewhere in October would be nice. Splatoon 2 got its first content update 1 month after release

First major content update will be the start of next season, which is December 1st. No clue if we'll get smaller content drops until then though, but I hope we at least get a bug fix patch before then

They probably overdid it if it's even a subject in Japan. I know I have to change my game when playing close range weapons and that's not good.
