Cant wait to see all the heroes from previous games!
Does anyone else think this approach has been somehow due to FE Heroes for mobile success?

Almost definitely, Heroes was a resounding financial success after all

It's probably also linked to the fact that this seems to be an anniversary game of sorts, but Heroes probably let them know the idea was profitable

I like the box art but it feels weird that Marth gets bigger billing than anyone else. And the weird mix of scales

I’m feeling pretty excited for this, I actually really like the male MC’s design and it doesn’t sound like there’s different routes (which I found unbearably overwhelming in regards to 3 Houses to the point that I haven’t made much progress on it). I haven’t gotten a good chance to really watch the trailer yet but I’ve liked what I’ve seen

Also is that Leif from Tharcia on that wheel ?

It's Fire Emblem, so I am in regardless, but I feel like this game will have to grow on me, whereas 3H had me instantaneously.

Everything looks a lot more vibrant and just straight up better in terms of overall visual detail, but there is no character design that immediately speaks to me.

the evil dragon is dope
I agree about how better-looking it is

btw, I HATE the font of the title lol

I’m obsessed with how Marth looks on this boxart, idk what it is but love the art style. The bright colors are great.

When the game was first leaked and the past lords being summoned was mentioned I was nervous but I’m actually a big fan of the way they’re implemented so far, there spirits being used to attack alongside you is a lot cooler than summoning them as a unit.

Hmm.

I like the artstyle, and graphically it seems really good. I’m not really feeling the summon last character mechanic and the character designs though.

The story and world building is just giving me Awakening vibes, which would be a massive step back from Three Houses.

I dunno, it’s Fire Emblem so I’m there day one if it’s good, and we’ve barely seen anything of the game, but I’ll be surprised if I love this as much as I did Three Houses.

Also Marth is lame and every time they try to use his appearance as something to get excited over falls flat for me.

Between the lack of weapon durability, sleeker presentation, seemingly lighter tone, and heavy fanservice, Engage definitely feels like it’s more of a sequel to Fateswakening than Three Houses. Which makes sense if Genealogy is the next game in the series. A lighter, more gameplay focused title slides in well between two darker and heavier stories.

I like how this looks. It also seems the story will be a more straightforward adventure rather than the more complicated politics of Three Houses. I enjoy both approaches and this will be nice after spending many many hours in the world of 3H haha.

Haa there even been clothing options in a FE game before? It looked like there was a menu to pick outfits in the trailer.

I'll forgive any amount of pandering/poor designs/weird fonts/bad story if the game has some solid maps for once.

This one didn't really thrill me, but I have had so much fun with recent Fire Emblem games that I will buy it for sure.

Sort of? Fates had accessories you could put on characters, Warriors let you pick between class outfits, while Three Houses/Three Hopes lets you pick between a characters pre-timeskip look, post-timeskip look, and the default look for the class they were currently in. Warriors and Three Houses had DLC outfits too.

The brief snippet in the trailer looks like an expanded version of Fates system, imo.

someone on the purple site said this looked too good for the switch...am i blind or something. it looks good but too good for the switch?

Lol no
Ryza 3 looks better (just for the sake of comparison between the same team on the same hw)

Still, looks better than TH for sure

Why does the female version of toothpaste have a head that’s wider than her waist and approximately the same size as her torso. Just seems weird standing next to the male version. Maybe it’s the forced perspective and angles of the montage or something

Since it's now revealed, can someone post those leaked screens from months ago please... assuming that's allowed?

Edit: Here's the thread:

Wow, those did NOT show the game in a good way. Thank god I avoided them and saw it as it was supposed to be seen. Looks EONS better than the leak.

I really liek the character designs here, which was only my only problem with 3 houses, they were kinda boring (They did it waay better in 3Hopes)

Three Houses promo did nothing for me up until the time-skip reveal, Engage is looking a lot more straightforward so far. Voiced MC already makes this a stronger initial showing.

Now will I be salivating for Chrobin crumbs? Absolutely! But I hate that they're leaning on nostalgia so much. This is Pokémon XY all over again except modern Fire Emblem has long eclipsed its beginnings. I will never care about Marth - enough!

yeah it just feels like a backhanded way of saying the switch is weak
Well some folk just can’t help themselves. I mean, the Switch is definitely well below the PS4 and especially PS5 but this isn’t exactly among its best looking or most impressive games

Looking at the mural at the beginning of the trailer, it seems like each land has a specific theme/biome? Bottom left looks like your typical grassy plains type of area, bottom right looks like a desert kingdom, top right seems to be a snowy, mountainous kingdom, and top left is... I'm not sure actually lol.

Well, anyway, looking back at the leaks, it was said that there would be dungeons. I'm gonna guess that there is one main required story dungeon for each of the four sorrounding kingdoms, and the final dungeon is the castle in the center. The shot at the end of the trailer of Alear and Marth opening a huge door could be a cutscene that introduces the first main dungeon of the game? Like, they're opening the door to the dungeon and going inside? It would be cool if there are also some smaller, optional mini dungeons. Maybe the game has some sidequests that involve optional dungeons?

Also just wanna point out how pretty (and well animated!) the CG cutscenes look so far. Huge improvement over the kinda bad faux-2d 3fps style from 3H lol. It looks like it might be the same studio that did the Awakening/Fates/Heroes cutscenes?

The more I see this game. The more I’m liking maybe playing a more lighthearted game that isn’t serious. Three Houses was very dense that became exhausting. I don’t think this is trying to be deep. But who knows.

I’ll take a Xenoblade 2 goof fest without much of the deeper stuff from that game with solid gameplay if they do that. Especially if Genealogy is coming. That’s a game I feel they’ll take super serious, just like Echoes and Three Houses took itself serious a lot of times.

I liked 3H (both) a lot, but also like how this game is aesthetically different to them. It looks amazing, is this the gust FE?
Yeah. This is Gust. The style reminds me of them too.

I'm feeling surprisingly open toward this, considering the leaks really put me off it originally. It being such a step up visually from 3H helps, that's for sure.

Hoping for stronger maps and less downtime/micromanagement. A lighter, more gameplay-focused FE would do it for me after the sprawling monstrosity that is 3H, even in Engage's characters and story end up being whatever.

That's the thing. It looks so much better than 3H. 3H was such a drab looking game. This is more vibrant but you can see some of the textures are a little flat. Kind of like what you get in a Pokemon game, but in the battle animations and up close they looks pretty good.

Alright I'll be honest I don't care about the blue and red hair but those bangs...

Why are they like that. The whole crossing in front of their eyes thing just doesn't work for me at all

Three Houses looked like trash. hardware had nothing to do with it. Dynasty Warriors-engine stuff haven't been too quality outside of games that really pushed the art boat out (Persona 5 Strikers). unfortuantely 3H got hit with the stick

It looks amazing and it reminded me to the atelier games. I really like the aesthetic, very colorful and differenced from the previous games. Glad to see this great collaboration with Koei continues giving us those games. Clearly the FE output wouldn't have been the same without them
