Sometimes I forget how rare Direct Days have become. This is only one of two days in the whole year where I‘ll wake up and just be endlessly hyped

In a Japan focused show? Doubt it

Welp, got confirmation I’ll be working tomorrow. Have to be on set by 6:00am. Hopefully filming won’t actually start until around 8:00am or so. And then a nice 20 minute break around 3:00pm for the State of Play. Yeah! my wishes into reality, Fami-ly! Lol

Nintendo Ninjas checked Sony's schedule and just did a W move to air Direct earlier in the day. Everyone will be talking about BOTW2 the whole day so Sony don't even try.
Nintendo Direct "You know they say all gaming presentations are created equal, but you look at me and you look at State of Play and you can see that statement is NOT TRUE! See, normally if you go one-on-one with another presentation you got a 50/50 chance of winning the news cycle. But I'm a genetic freak, and I'm not normal! So you got a 25% at best at beating me! And then you add Microsoft to the mix? Your chances of winning drastically go down. See, the three-way September 13th, you got a 33 1/3 chance of winning. But I? I got a 66 2/3 chance of winning, cuz Microsoft KNOOOWS they can't beat me, and they're not even gonna try. So, State of Play, you take your 33 1/3 chance minus my 25% chance (if we was to go one on one) and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning on September 13th. But then you take my 75% chance of winnin' (if we was to go one on one), and then add 66 2/3...percent, I got a 141 2/3 chance of winning on September 13! Señor Play, the numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you on September 13!"

I know Microsoft has nothing planned for tomorrow, but the way Lukas' post ended made the Steiner math promo go into my head

I just thought that Nintendo might use tomorrow's Direct to announce a Direct focused exclusively on the new Zelda.

It's not probable, but I like the idea. It allows them to not let another Direct go by without mentioning the game, but at the same time it doesn't say much, it builds hype, and it sets a date for when we will get an information dump.

I really hope they have a 42 minute Direct, then rounded down, and not a 38 minute Direct, then rounded up.

Thats a whole 4 minute difference...thats 2 whole game trailers...2 whole dreams.

I find it crazy that if Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD get announced tomorrow, they'll be sorta appeasement games to hold people over until BOTW2 releases.

Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD were appeasement games to hold people over until BOTW.

I know it probably wasn't planned to be this way, but it's wild that this is (potentially) a repeating cycle at this point.

Now that explains why Nintendo is early. Because Sony is there almost (or on?) the usual hour
No they want to make room for the three hour treehouse after the show that will dive deep into The Sequel and Prime 4 innit

Maybe. But I think they usually do those closer to release or for DLC on an already-released game, right?

Same. 😢 Maybe I can talk my boss into grabbing coffee near there and then “oops! Look at this exciting thing!”
I don't work particularly close to the Nintendo store and my boss and I don't really have a "go get coffee together" relationship so I don't think I can do that, haha

Shure, its not a mainstream solution, i was talking more of the "core" audience and fans.
Also: there where many devices, but it was always more work compared to today. It just gotten easier.
Mind you, für the masses it will still be nice, but i just feel like the gaming sphere excitement
would have been higher a year or 2 ago. (And that can sweep up uninvolved or curious people that
want to know what the fuss is about when social media is full. but maybe im completly miss judging.

Well, for one, even amongst enthusiast circles or even core audiences, I can bet the majority don’t go through those hoops. Emulation had gotten easier to a point, but it’s always been pretty easy on a PC or Mac.

Now hacking a console is trickier. The 3DS is legit the easiest one to do and it’s seamless and can use the native emulator.

But the Vita was a PITA for me, and now - and I’m not the only one having issues - I can’t even access the PSN store to re download my purchased games since Sony made an update to the store, which is conflicting with my homebrew despite spoofing the current firmware.

Wii U was less complicated than the Vita and you can use native emulator too, which is great, but it’s not well supported anymore because low install base.

Pocket is really the best device for emulation right now IMO to a certain point in generations, but hard to get, expensive, and like me, on a waiting list until sometime in 2023.

SteamDeck I canceled my preorder. Couldn’t justify the price and size, even with how much I love gaming. Especially when there will be a SteamDeck 2 which will hopefully be smaller have better battery and maybe less than 500 bucks.

Pocket is the easiest by far as long as you get one and pay the cost of the system and an everdrive, which I did.

But even as a core audience, I rather just plug and play. Convenience is still king at the end of the day for me. And who knows when I’ll get my Pocket lol

I find it interesting that only one of the five Gamexplain guys feels like Metroid Prime Remastered will be in the direct tomorrow. That seems like a guarantee for November and will finally be revealed tomorrow.

Fun fact: the PlayBoy was a temporary name (was never going to release with that name) for Rare’s own handheld device they were working on in the late 80s. It was cancelled after Rare learned of Nintendo’s own Game Boy and they decided to develop for that as opposed to releasing their own hardware.

This is exactly how I reacted to your post.

Starts with Metroid Prime
2/5 in announces new Fire Emblem
1/2 way in announces new 2D Mario/DK
3/5 in announces GB/GBC to NSO
Ends with TPHD/WWHD, BotW 2 full trailer and name reveal
Splatoon 3 update maybe, MK8 booster course maybe, Xeno 3 DLC peppered in, too. We're gonna be eating GOOD even if Mario or DK doesn't show

I will be running on like 4 hours of sleep on Direct day and I can't allow myself to sleep much until friday ... please have one thing I like nintendo

I'm still choosing to doubt the Zelda ports. Specifically WW/TP. Current Nintendo has no reason to release those together or even near each other. Hell, no reason to even reveal them together.

Unless BOTW 2 is delayed again to Q4 2023 there's just not enough room for 2 big 3D Zelda's between now and spring 2023, judging by how Nintendo typically schedules things.

I think it's more likely we get a new 2D game, a 2D remake or port (maybe Oracles NSO?) or a spinoff like Cadence of Hyrule.

This will be me tomorrow at 7am

But not because of the Direct, but rather other responsibilities , which means I’ll have to watch it waaaay later

There's definitely a spot in Late September / early October.

My daughter has a toy mermaid and she told me that the mermaid can make any wish come true, so I wished for a good night of sleep where I don't have to wake up until the late morning. At 5:45 am while walking the dog I said "screw you mermaid"
