Good to know. Was afraid my switch was on its way out. I really didn’t want to get a new one know the drake is coming
Yeah, it has happened me twice in 4 years and usually after long periods without turning it off completely (which usually happens with the updates)

I’m playing Tales of Arise. Let see how far I get before Xenoblade.

This game was compared heavily to Xenoblade tho I think it was just cause Xenoblade is popular on gaming centric fourms lol. Probably not much else. Anyways. Let see, I’ve heard mixed things on it but for 15 bucks? I can get some enjoyment and Time killer on it
Other than a few things like the flaming sword that you mentioned, I really don't think Arise and Xenoblade have practically anything in common at all. In fact I think that the comments about Arise being a big sea change for Tales games were pretty overblown - it's a much better engine than the last few PS4 games and the graphics are much improved, which also adds to the exploration and some other elements, but other than that it still felt very much like a Tales game. I think the combat is pretty fun, if a bit repetitive, but I ended up not being a huge fan of the game for a lot of reasons. I overall found Berseria to be quite a bit better.

Did the far future chapter yesterday and the prehistoric chapter today on Live Alive. Having fun with it, for sure.

Haven’t played Arise myself yet, but I thought the whole Xenoblade comparison was just the hills in one level, shown prominently in a trailer, looked like the Gaur Plains hills.

Hey all I was in the claymation earthbound thread made by @Raccoon and it got me thinking about an awesome video by an individual called Worthikids. The video is called Captain Yajima, if you haven’t seen it I would absolutely recommend if you have love for Claymation/Stopmotion works.

This scratches something in my mind.. I.. think I've seen this?? Or at least pieces, maybe?

You ever just find yourself thinking about how awesome the Forest Temple was?
The Forest Temple music, absolutely. It sneaks its way into my head from time to time.

Hell yeah. There's something magical about that temple, especially with all the buildup of it being your first adult temple. Walking into it and hearing that music kick in was an experience. One of the best zelda dungeons period.

This reminds me, my favorite Forest Temple cover (from all the way back in 2005):

Need to start saving for something and so I just cancelled a ton of subscriptions many of which I wasn’t even using and to my shock they totaled around $60 a month. Jeebus these add up, don’t they?

It's the return of the "ah, wait, no way, you're kidding

I googled "vorp" and all I got is sportsball stuff so unless your prescription multiplier turned you into a basketball player I'm gonna assume it's an onomatopoeia OHMYGAHDWAIT i know what it is:

Oath is amazing with the right group and multiple plays. I wish I had a friend group that lived locally that was into that sort of game to justify buying a copy to have.
I played it with my girlfriend for the first time yesterday but it was a bit overwhelming with just the two of us. Still, the potential here seems incredible and I love the presentation of everything. Luckily we’re getting two friends who live close by and are heavy into boardgames to join us regularly after we’re back from our holidays.

We have a second group of friends that we play with but I’m not sure they’d be into this type of game. My girlfriend got Hogwarts Battle for her birthday and we’ve been playing that for the past few weeks and in terms of complexity that seems about perfect. Don’t know what we’ll do once we’re done though. Maybe Marvel Champions (edit: mistakenly wrote United before), despite my dislike for licensed games (I say this fully aware that I’d absolutely eat up a good Zelda themed board game).

This game is really going to be a big hit in Japan, isn't it?

Oof, my package from the UK with Klonoa and Somnium Files 2 arrived and it had no padding at all and has been squished so much that the case for Somnium is on a slight curve lol.

May send them an email because yuck 🤮

Actually they sent me an email asking for a review, I’ll oblige.

Finally got around to watching Season 4 of Stranger Things, think it might be my favorite overall? Probably need to look back at Season 1 first. Time to get back to not playing video games!

Yep they do. I cancelled all subs except Nintendo Online. Saves loads of money on content I did not even consume.

I saw an ending spoiler for Xenoblade 3 and hooooooooooooooooooooooly fucking shit this series is beyond saving

Just dump it straight in the trash

Is it safe to assume that we should not buy any first party Nintendo DLC assuming that it'll drop on the Expansion Pass?
For single player focused games it seems they are not bringing them and in cases like FE/XC that they give you almost a whole new game of content I expect it even less from Nintendo

I would assume any new DLC will either be there day one or never at all.

Other old stuff could be added though like Octo Expansion was (eg BotW DLC).

Leder's games are something I've slowly come around to appreciating although there's a steeper than normal learning curve relative to most of the games I play. Root is also enjoyable but it's more like multiple subgames running concurrently on the same board, which is fascinating. Unfortunately I'm not sure you can play it with just two.

Hogwarts Battle is fun and a good intro to deck-builders with how it slowly adds mechanics. I've heard good things about Marvel Champions and I think that's using mechanics similar to Arkham Horror LCG / LotR LCG and it's a great system.

Some other alternatives to consider coming from Hogwarts:
  • Hero Realms - There's a co-op add-on for the base game and I think this would be a good next step if you enjoy co-op deckbuilders like Hogwarts. There's also an app version now which allows limited access to the game for free if you want to try the game without committing to it.
  • Sentinels of the Multiverse - Non-deck-building game of a team of super heroes fighting a villain. Basically it's an RPG boss fight in card game form using original characters (that are clearly inspired by other things). Not sure how it compares to Marvel Champions though.
  • Clank! - Deckbuilder with a board heist game but not co-operative. You're basically going into a dungeon to find a high value piece of loot and get back out before you get killed. Really fun game of trying to optimize your deck, while navigating the maze, while also trying to manage your risk of getting injured by creating noise and drawing the attention of the dungeon lord.

Dlc SP logo for midnight suns was found on Xbox store. I’m thinking
Legion of Monsters, those hints could be Elsa Bloodstone, Werewolf by Night, Morbius and Frankencastle

At least the switch version being delayed means the wait for the dlc is shorter

Oh, thanks for the recommendations. I'm definitely going to check out the Hero Realms app and look into Clank. Based on pictures I'm not sure I find Sentinels of the Multiverse that appealing. The quality of the art is pretty important to me.

I don’t get the joke
Sorry, that was my reaction to what I think Red Monster was referring to.

Oh yea, the art on SotM can be a bit rough. The new definitive edition is a lot better (10+ years of practice makes a difference!) but can be a little awkward since they went a bit "high concept" by using multiple art styles for each character depending on what comics era the card is referencing.

Also, I recommend perusing Dicebreaker's recommendation lists if you're looking for new things: https://www.dicebreaker.com/archive/best-games They cover a lot of different options including "best two player" and "best for couples".

Just passed thru the whole conversation, sorry if I misunderstood. What you're looking for is two players deck building with coop?
If you check BGG (BoardGameGeek) you can try to search games with deck construction and coop, or even look for lists with games for two players.
If coop is not a must, I'd take a look on dominion and mystic vale, and even if not a deck building, 7 wonders duel is a great two player game.
Sorry I can't help more, I don't care much for games which the main mechanic is deck building (even though my favorite Concordia uses it in some fashion).

Posting spoilers outside of their designated topic, even behind a spoiler tag, is quite inconsiderate. Doing so after the spoiler topic has been temporarily closed due to that very image is particularly inappropriate. -Donnie, hologram, paranoodle
