My YouTube feed has been complete garbage lately. I don’t know if I’ve done something to fuck up my recommendations or if the algorithm just sucks, but the past two days I find myself endlessly scrolling and not seeing anything interesting.

I know a lot of you don't know who I am and this is off topic but I hope some of you can wish me well tomorrow. I have a really big job interview tomorrow. I recently graduated but have been looking for work since January with no luck. Tomorrow's interview would be quite literally the perfect position for me.

It's also the longest interview I've ever had; running at two hours long. o_O

I wanted to start a thread for it but I might sound like a nostalgic fool and the thread will probably die off very soon so let me complain here:

I HATE how Enix has great franchises (to me anyway) that actually really seemed to be forgotten. Games like
  • Soul Blazer trilogy (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma)
  • Just Breed
  • Jyutei Senki
  • Wonder Project J
  • Mystic Ark
  • Planet Laika
Like come on, DO SOMETHING WITH THEM Square-Enix, jeez...
Has S-E ever re-released terranigma on newer hardware? Loved watching my siblings playing that as a kid.

Nah never. None of the SoulBlazer-games. Thank god I have the original cartridges. However, if you are a younger gamer, good luck with buying those with those horrible prices. There is hope though, seeing the ActRaiser remake ActRaiser Renaissance.

Good luck! :D

Don't worry about it being off-topic. It's rare that we're on topic :p

Wouldn’t surprise me if this wasn’t the only one releasing this way.

"Presented by the U.S. Army"

The fuck.
Huh.

I was away from my computer a few times.

Yeah, I did not see that at all. Sorry about that. Either that, or I wasn't listening because I had multiple tabs open.

My apologies.

I watched a video of John Cena seeing a fan who escaped Ukraine. And now I’m getting nothing but WWE recommendations.

And the video i watched wasn’t even from a WWE Channel. Annoying as hell.

Currently migrating all ~95GB of my UE4 project files from my internal SSD to my external SSD since my laptop is running out of space, wish me luck that it doesn't completely destroy all my project files and make me 🙃

Oh snap! Actually, this is at the bottom of the screen at the corner.

Yikes. I, err, sorry about that.

The video was open in another tab. My bad, everyone. @Xaltmas

If a device ruins your experience for a presentation directed at another audience, go touch grass. The world does not revolve around you

It was an opinion article. Some of you need to get a grip (it reads like). This is literally the last sentence of the article:

The Steam Deck won't ultimately be a Switch killer, but it has taken some of the luster out of what used to make Nintendo Directs feel so special for me.

You can flush your recommendations. I do that often when I watch gyuilty pleasure '80's pop video's and then my recommendations are all like A-HA, Bonny Tyler and such lol

Is there a way to clear YouTube recommendations?

Google provides an automated history deletion option if you want to clear your recommendations every so often
. To access it, click Auto-delete on the YouTube History page. There, you can choose to automatically erase any history older than three, 18, or 36 months.

It was confusion, not offense. The military sponsoring an IGN video is super weird to me. I guess they are that desperate lol.

That discussion on ERA has brought out the worst of both fanbases. The insecurity and sensitivity of Switch fans and the smugness and self-satisfaction of PC fans.

Re: WW/TP HD

Would love to get a chance to play TP as I missed it, but I don't think these games are coming this year. Tantalus has been explicit in saying they haven't worked on them, and the existing Zelda team is no doubt head down on BotW2, so it's not an internal port. I think Nintendo genuinely believed that they'd have BotW2 this year, and doesn't want to push it any further into next year than they have to, so other Zelda releases won't have time to breath.

These will be "Zelda team is exhausted and needs a break" games after BotW2 in 2024 (or maybe just one of them), leaving Aonuma to supervise Oracle remakes/new spinoffs/fresh 2d games while the core team conceptualizes next gen Zelda.

Didn’t you know they are trying to recruit more gamers

In Ukraine, they have to turn away certain volunteers, telling them that war isn't a videogame, and that they need people with actual combat experience. Gamers are a prime target for recruitment because many think they can live that life because they played it in a game.

Y’all I think Nintendo has a good shot at Game awards this year

Not to win lol that’s definitely Elden Ring

But some games of their’s that don’t normally make it have a shot, the year is pretty barren for mostly everyone else while Nintendo’s lineup is pretty stacked, and looks to be quality as well.

Also, new footage and info for Mario + Rabbids 2:

(I don't think this was posted in the Direct; I'm pretty sure we only get 2-and-a-half-minutes of footage for the game during the Direct Mini)

After the incident with the sour milk last night, my luck got better when I pulled Kos-Mos with a rare blade crystal and no boosters.

How we all doing today, Fami? I'm making progress on a hopefully promising work project and chronic illness is there but not too awful. Plus I got a free lunch, so I think today is going well.

I'll consider that. This is just so I can play PS5-level games (that, and play on my TV with less loading time). Do you think I should get a Steam Deck instead?

All I can say is that if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have bought an Xbox.

In your position, I’d consider:

1. Do you have a capable gaming PC that can play PS5/XBX-level games?

2. How interested are you in playing PS5 exclusives? If you have a gaming PC, are you willing to wait a few years for ports?

3. If you don’t have a gaming PC, how interested are you in Microsoft’s games and what’s currently on Game Pass (maybe look at what’s been added so far this year to see the pace and types of new additions)?

this is from today's ubi showcase.

I think in writing my post reads off as mad or something but that is not the intent. "get a grip" comes off as hostile so chill.

I understand its an opinion piece and I understand where they are coming from. But what's the purpose? Like the direct was not for everyone specially if you played some of those games before. So why now? You can put money down that in every direct there will be 3-4 year old ports, does that kill your enjoyment for the direct?

I cant understand relating your enjoyment for a show because of a piece of hardware. I got a new pc that can run the games in the direct way better but that did not deter me from enjoying it. Maybe since its not my job to game or do reviews, that I dont understand the point of it.

I was being absolutely sarcastic in that statement. The US Military has so awful Keith their targeted recruitment of Gen Z & the tactics they have employed to do so.

I think it's pretty simple, some people, like the article author, plays a lot of 3rd party games on Switch and often have to wait for 3rd party ports to be announced for Switch, most of the time those announcements happens in the different Nintendo Directs, so the author used to look forward to Directs to know what upcoming 3rd party games can be played on handheld (Switch). With the Steam Deck, he doesn't need to wait for Nintendo Directs and hope for 3rd party announcements, so the Steam Deck made Directs less interesting for the author.

So the author decided to write an article about his thoughts and feelings and that's it.

Let's see...

1. My gaming PC is not capable of playing PS5/XBX-level games, and certainly not with good loading times.

2. I am relatively interested in playing PS5 exclusives, but not very; Ghost of Tsushima looks good, but I haven't played PS3 or PS4 or PS5 games in a while (years). I don't care either way how long the ports take to come eventually.

3. Again, I do have a gaming PC, but I've been on a gaming hiatus for a long time and have gotten back into video-gaming for a few months now. Still, I'm not sure what a "Game Pass" is, though I know it's well-acclaimed and gives you good deals on video games if you have an Xbox Series X or S. Microsoft's games look interesting, though I've never played Halo. I'd say that I'm slightly more interested in PlayStation exclusives than I am in Xbox exclusives, tbh.

Anyone else want to chime in here?

After playing Guardians of the Galaxy on gamepass. I’ve decided to never listen to anyone ever again.

Game is meh as hell. The writing is not impressive either but it might be if I was a fan of the Ip. Which admittedly I am not, so that’s probably where the praise came for the writing. I was hoping it was more universal praise. The combat is so boring. And it does that thing that I disliked about recent games where everyone is taking as you’re walking. Remake VII did that so much as well. I would just stop to hear some stuff.

Anyways. I’m joking about not listening to anyone, just found it funny how I expected to like the game after hearing rave things about it. Granted im not gonna bother to finish it as my not renewing my gamepass. I’ve realized I don’t need gamepass, I’ll actually save money by owning the games then paying every 3 months. I don’t have the time to use it as much and a lot of the games on there are super cheap. It’s a nice thing and im sure as a kid I would love it. But the last year has shown me that gamepass is not at all in my interest.

I tried to spread the word, but it’s hard to get through. Most people are fine with the quality of Netflix original movies/programming and most are similarly fine with quality of Game Pass games given the quantity. It’s almost all just filler.

GotG may be a standout on GP, but it’s ultimately a paint by numbers AAA 3PS with some Marvel-movie style dialog.

To be fair, I have enjoyed some GP day one games, such as TMNT and SoR4, and if counting games that I played months or years before they came to GP, there are quite a few great games.

Y’all I think Nintendo has a good shot at Game awards this year.

1. Bayonetta 3
2. Kirby
3. Xenoblade/ Rabbids

I feel those are their best chances. Honestly I can see Kirby being nominated just base on how it’s been having a good long wom effect.

popped in to resetera to see if there were any interesting news and they have another "steam deck rocks switch sucks" thread lol. godspeed to them, one day they'll finally kill the switch if they post hard enough.

Steam Deck can’t even run F-Zero GX without completely falling apart in stages such as Sand Ocean and Lightning. Form factor is a worse Wii U Gamepad with a much worse button layout

I wasn’t hearing much things about Steam Machines making the PS4 and Xbox One obsolete back then. Some parts of gaming media actively engage in console warring, they advocate Nintendo going third party because they obviously hold gaming back with their weak specs and anti consumer practices. At some point the backlash was to tell those kinds of people to fuck off because the Switch offers something that literally no other platform has, the portability. Now that the Steam Deck is a thing, those same fanboys think that people have literally no reason to own a Switch, therefore they should support the “objectively best product”. That’s why PC gamers are the most annoying platform warriors, they want to force their preferences into everyone’s throats. They even went as far as inventing performance issues for existing acclaimed Switch games to encourage people to play them on Steam Deck instead.

Again, people didn’t have that same energy when the PS2 got late ports of the Capcom 5 games, all of which had very noticeable downgrades, much more than your average Switch port. Some people just want to play games on a Nintendo console, no tinkering required. The Switch is very successful but this sentiment really brings down some of the console’s most memorable moments. We got a new 2D Metroid for the first time in 17 years, it’s a great game, what is the media’s reaction. Saying that it’s not worth full price, showing tutorials on how to crack it, and pushing this idea on Nintendo being obsolete, that indies got this genre covered and even recommending games that aren’t even Metroidvanias over it, this all felt so forced. Crazy how nowadays some people think that their insufferable fanboyism is justified

I read that article and thought it would actually create a more positive experience cause you’ll be like “on neat, I can get that for my steam deck!”

Some of those titles wouldn’t get much marketing elsewhere so you’ll learn about them on switch lol. There was a recent SOP where games were coming to switch and I was like “neat, I’ll get that on switch”, not “this SOP sucks, I like the games here but it’s coming to another platform, that sucks”.

I thought more options to play games for these companies presentation would be universally popular lol

I can see that.

I would still be interested in the directs because a lot of times the third party games revealed, for the first time, are usually Switch/PC day 1 so there are still surprises to be had.

I'm on hold with my doctor's office and I swear this hold music sounds like someone added a decent percussion beat to some Metroid track.

the abyss is strong today. I am considering a warioware-esque mini-game spin-off of Grögol Bonanza called Grögol Fiesta.

F-Zero confirmed a true next gen game 😎
but yeah it definitely feels like there's a lot of malding over the switch existing. makes sense when you remember all the clamoring for it's failure back when it was revealed. feels like subsets of the online crowd have never let go of that and are quite angry that it's as successful if not more so than their big boy consoles.
