TBH It could just be called “Nintendo Direct” and then not having much first party stuff in it (maybe just Mario Kart DLC, N64 NSO games, Everybody’s 1 2 Switch or some other padding)

Like y’all are getting so hung up on branding. The branding doesn’t matter. It’s the content.

It depends how you interpret "except for a final trailer."

Is it a) there will only be a story trailer in the upcoming direct or b) there is just one final story trailer to be released at some future time to complete the marketing before the game releases?
They said it won’t appear, except for a final story trailer. I take it as it won’t get another gameplay spotlight or any kind of spotlight. It’ll just be a story trailer

Yeah, I can imagine Nintendo having some contractual obligations for third-party reveals within this timeframe, but I don't understand why they would completely purge their own reveals from whatever given showcase it was so as to necessitate the Partner branding.

We know there are games coming, and it's not the height of a pandemic anymore. I also don't see why they'd reveal their own games like next month or something if they could just do the thing now with whatever is coming in a few days.

So if it's not a general, I would have to imagine it's a mini.

If branding didn’t matter then Nintendo wouldn’t brand their directs differently. Let’s not do this again please.

I´m scared because the partners from 2020 had bad content for me :c or little to no content, i remember the wwe2k game

But wouldn't be weird a story trailer in a Partner Showcase? Maybe It's a Mini with some Nintendo small things here and there?

Whatever it is, I hope Nintendo announces it ahead of time tomorrow

Shadowdropped minis are lame. At least try to kinda make an event out of it!

If its actually a general I could see the next Direct being in October maybe. If its a Mini or Partner its hopefully early September for General

I’m not saying the branding doesn’t matter despite saying exactly that in my post lol, I just feel like a Partner Direct Mini could have awesome stuff in it, just like a “General” Direct could be boring. I’m just wanting people to not doom/gloom, that’s all.

I mean General at least for me means that it's more than 30 minutes and more importantly it has a NCL presenter here, and Generals are announced few hours more in advance since they are bigger shows.

I’m taking it meaning we will get a Mini Direct because that’s the only branding between a Partners and Mini that will allow us to see more Xenoblade 3

I’m just curious how insiders know there WONT be certain stuff.

I had assumed they knew of certain games that would appear, which is why much of the time, they can’t say what type of Direct it would be.

I wonder if an email leaked or something that said “Nintendo will be featuring our game in Nintendo Direct Mini - Partner Showcase” or something lol

I never understood why Mini Directs are just dropped, yet some Partner Directs were announced ahead of time lol. What’s Nintendo’s thought process on not announcing Mini’s ahead of time? Fear of people being disappointed?

Well the last mini was like an 4 months before first Partner, maybe they changed their minds lol. But it was more like, there was not a Direct for a long time so they went with just announcing it ahead of time.

There is a non-zero chance this is a New Hardware Showcase and that very very low chance is enough to make me excited

I will not hype responsibly. I will be irresponsible.

The thing is, even excluding a possible Xeno3 trailer, Nintendo DOES have more First Party stuff they need to show soon.
1) Post launch support for Mario Strikers.
2) The second wave of MK8 DLC.
3) The leg strap update for Switch Sports, which is releasing this Summer.

all of these things could be Twitter drops tho

Yeah I said it in the last page. I don’t think we get new hardware announcement this week though. I think we get the RDR2 Cloud announcement for Switch and it’s a foretelling of RDR2 coming for Switch Pro.

We already saw them switch around release dates of Xenoblade and Splatoon 3, so maybe something else happened behind the scenes?
I dont wanna doompost, cause to be honest I'll probably be happy with whatever kind of direct we're getting.
Even in 2020 which was one of the worst years for directs we had Monster Hunter Rise, SMTV and the Mario Collection, so I expect atleast some good stuff to be in there.

Here is an update on the insider gossip list I posted a few days ago:

  • Nate says a Direct is coming
  • Grubb says Nintendo is doing a bunch of different showcases in the coming month
  • Pierce says 29th, Nates says 28/29th
  • Xeno 3 direct happens - edit: A 4chan post that correctly predicted the exact time (direct + announcement) and length of X3 Direct says a X3 story trailer is coming in a Direct next week. Nintendo later names X3 trailer "teaser"
  • Tom Henderson says something is happening, but maybe not a direct - edit: Later clarifies that a mini partner is coming per VGC, and M&R2 is the something he was alluding to
  • Nate confirms we are getting details about M&R2 next week. Is unsure about Bayo 3
  • Piers is flying out a work from home member to discuss a Direct next week
  • Nacho Requena states he is hearing a direct focused on third parties is coming. Persona game will be present. Four year old game coming to Switch.
  • Eurogamer, VGC, Tom, and Nate further collaborate that they are hearing the Direct is now a Mini Partner

Thanks for this summary! Real king here. Although Grubb said there are smaller showcases in June, not entire year.

Cloud on Base, Native on Pro sounds like it’s gonna be a common refrain in the next few years.

I would just like to warn everyone, especially with how aggro the mood got in this thread yesterday, that I just spent the morning tearing the radiator out of my truck only to find the new one that I waited a week and a half for is the wrong size.

So I have the potential to be 𝓮𝔁𝓽𝓻𝓪 𝓼𝓪𝓼𝓼𝔂 today.
