Maybe the reason I'm not getting busted up over this Partner Direct thing is because, as a Chrono fan, I go into every Direct and State of Play expecting to not get what I want, and thus have been trained on simply accepting these presentations as they are. 🤔
Same but Donkey Kong 👍

That's coz while you wait, you build up all these crazy expectations that get trashed when the direct finally airs.
LoL I dont get on your level, as you get older, little shit like that doesnt get me.

The truth is that I spend talking more about Nintendo Games than playing them.

Hahahaha

I don't know, all of the Directs since the launch of Switch have satisfied me greatly. The key is this: Just don't be a Zelda or Metroid fan.
He I got that one Direct where they announced Metroid Dread and it was the greatest most glorious thing ever.

I don't care anymore when MP4 is coming really, but I 2ill be so happy when I see it.
I got tons of other games on Switch, like Astral Chain, Pokémon Legends, SSBU, No More Heroes 3 and Cruis'n Blast.
And that's not counting all the multiplatform games and ports I got.
So I think any Direct had something for me.

The new game by Yacht Club is probably my most hyped indy game right now but I guess it will be an absolute no show this year.

An update would still be a nice surprise next week.

To me it seemed like Nate was speculating it was a partner direct based on what he is hearing, nothing concrete as people still don’t know the branding. He was only certain of the direct June 28

Do partner directs typically cover a wide number of announcements or do they focus on just a few (say 1-4) announcements?
The 2020 ones were very short, like, less than 10min short, I think it was around 5 trailers or something like that

I think the gaming industry pipeline situation is a bit better now plus maybe Nintendo noticed the negative reception, and now we may see a more solid show this time though

You know what i would love from a third party is a Theatrythym collection of Curtain Call and Dragon Quest bundled together so we could at last get the game in 1080p and higher quality sound than the 3ds.

How is everyone's journey in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes going?
It’s going well! I really like the game.

The game really fixed a lot of things that hindered down Three Houses for me. Like, it tells you what characters like, it's easier to see the support and other minor stuff.

Yeah its not concrete, but probably not General. Anyways we will know within a few days. I will watch whatever Direct it ends up being and try to enjoy it lol

TBH, I feel bad for Nate. Once the announcement hits tomorrow or the day after that, people are going to probably pound him.
Those are sad people. It is also very normal that the closer you come to an event the more you start to know about said event. Because more people will know about the event or game or whatever. Thus a leak is safer to share or easier to happen as more people get their hands on it.

we already saw a kantoan meowth, so I think that's off the table
For what it's worth, Legends Arceus has both Johto-an and Hisuian forms of Sneasel, so anything is possible.

Same, but I feel worse for the people that care enough about this that feel it's justified to attack someone who can't control what Nintendo does.

Frankly, I am curious about what Nate heard that has shifted his tone and reasoning to start saying it seems to be a mini partner showcase on his end (though we probably won't know until after the direct, if at all, what led him to change his view seemingly abruptly as the day got closer).

Also as someone was mentioning several pages ago about why Persona in a partner showcase wouldn't make sense. I think people forget the developers don't really know ahead of time what type of direct their game would be shown in. Its very much possible that Nintendo made the deal to have the games revealed for Switch in a June direct early in 2022 which Atlus agreed on without Nintendo ever specifying if it'd be a general direct, mini direct, etc etc (back when E3 was still planned, it was probably arranged for E3 2022 Direct before event got cancelled). Developers usually have no say in what type of nintendo direct they would take part in and Atlus probably isn't any different and don't know until it really happens for the most part.

I think the same case happened with SMT3 and SMT5. Atlus made an agreement with Nintendo early-ish in 2020 to have them in a direct in the summer ahead of their releases (before everything went downhill) and Nintendo just ended up giving us partner showcases to hold up to their presumed obligation to Atlus and other developers to have it in a direct.

We used to have the "no general directs in the 2nd half of the month" rule we held so highly before the pandemic which Nintendo broke twice in 2021 (Feb 17th, 2021 and Sept 23rd, 2021). We can't really predict consistency from Nintendo now because nothing is locked in stone anymore and doing a 3rd party partner direct really cements that Nintendo really is a hard ball to predict for.

Arceus had two versions of Sneasel so that doesn't necessarily block anything

EDIT: Ah you literally responded to someone else saying the exact same thing right above me lol

Can you share the post?

Though I am not sure if his statement was referring to the content of the Direct or Switch games in general. It can be seen both ways imo.

Wait, you are onto something here.
We have a new pattern.
Atlus announcement = Partner Showcase

This could very well be taken that it's going to be a Partner full of good games or, the more likely option, John is just saying there's a lot of good games coming for Switch, which there are.

I mean did I say John Harker said “be excited for amazing games coming”? He’s happy and I attributed it to Mario + Rabbids since I believe he works at Ubisoft

The more I read the statement the more I come to your latter conclusion as well.

Going with the idea that the Direct will be a Partner Direct, what 1 or 2 things being shown would make you be happy with the Direct?
Pokémon Scarlet/Violet news and Persona 3 and 4 ports.

Pick any two and I'd be happy:

  • persona 3 + 4
  • persona 5
  • mario + rabbids sparks of hope
  • silksong release date
  • final fantasy 1-6

Persona ports, the FF pixel remasters... and the new Fire Emblem, considering that it will be a KT game

As a hater of good games I'm disappointed
Understandable. I too can't stand good video games. In fact their very existence angers me so much that I have to really try hard to not go berserk on my Switch.
Fuck that piece of shit machine and its good games.

I am not really sure what to think anymore but Nate said that Direct is 28th in all timezones I think? But don't take my word, this basically means no General even if only he was speculating on his part if it's partner.
