I was planning on waiting until the direct was announced to make my set of predictions, but since Mini's are never announced ahead of time, I'll make my contingency predictions here if that's what ends up happening. If a full direct is announced, I'll scrap these and make a prediction for that. These aren't ordered, as there isn't really any sort of defined structure for a Mini.

  • Bayonetta 3 gameplay, release date in October
  • Splatoon 3 gameplay, direct in July
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass Wave 2, early July
  • Mario Strikers update, shadowdrop
  • Switch Sports update, shadowdrop
  • Everybody's 1-2-Switch reveal, August
  • Bunch of 3rd party stuff (Humankind, Arkham Collection, Persona, etc.)
  • Advance Wars new release date, probably just placed in a sizzle reel, August
  • Zelda HD remasters, September
Metroid Prime HD and Fire Emblem saved for the next general direct, probably September. Mario + Rabbids unveiled by Ubisoft later on.

watch it be a Twitter Announcement "Direct"...Announcements all through tweets from the official Nintendo twitter accounts

fyi I still expect a regular direct of some form

that was clearly bullshit, and one of jason's most embarrassing tweets, i think he ended up deleting it?
nothing about what was shown was out of the ordinary for the current hardware.
he probably heard it would be on new hardware and made the assumption that it was

Yeah I’m gonna need confirmation of first party games
I don't think nate really knows that sort of thing tbh, hence his inability to rule out a partner

I'll be honest... I can't get excited for a mini or partner Direct. I mostly am only interested in first party games on Nintendo systems and play third party games elsewhere. I can't even remember the last time a mini or partner Direct announced a new third party game I even cared about.

I just want to see Zelda finally after all these damn years and finally learn about some big new Nintendo games that aren't watered down sports games or real-time strategy games.

I'm just not interested in some random most likely throw away third party Switch ports so I don't care about a Mini or Partner Direct. Just my opinion.

True, feel like there’s a specific 3rd party game people have known about would be shown for a while and that’s why we have had this date rumored for so long

literally my longest

Prime HD in September hurts, but release date for Re-Boot Camp means I could live with it.

Like I've said before, I'd bet on that being Mario + Rabbids. Ubisoft is leaky as hell

Which tbh, that's probably the game that I'm most interested in this year after XC3, so just getting a release date for that would make me ok enough with a Partners (still would obviously prefer a regular Direct or at least a Mini, I want that Fire Emblem announcement too)

I get what you’re saying. I brought it up to say they know Ubisoft has a dev kit for the new Switch. They assumed at the time the new Switch was going to be revealed and Ubisoft showed Mario + Rabbids running on it.

And yes we know it wasn’t correct at the time. I was thinking what if it’s really happening this year.

I still don’t understand how we get so much begging for a switch pro, yet multiple games running on the regular switch get “this looks too good, must be on pro” comments

Just makes me not take any of it seriously

What if it's to announce new hardware, but it comes bundled with an exclusive launch game: Everybody's Stinky Horseplay

Every copy comes with a hand-placed sticker on the case, "ONLY for Nintendo Switch Plus"

Hackers get it running on 2017 Switches before the official release date, but at least Nintendo can clean out their basement. They start printing "Chess" stickers to put over "Advance Wars Chess", only for a meteor to tragically strike a chess tournament two weeks before the new release.

This is why you need to embrace the anime, weebs haven't had a bad year since the Switch started

Ok well 2018 wasn't great but it did have Octopath and Torna
2018 also had Dragon Quest XI, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza 6, and Valkyria Chronicles 4. Still a good year overall.

what sucks about no general direct (assuming this is a mini/partner) is that there will be no treehouse. that's a big bummer.

Considering the final CO's power is a meteor strike, that would be... oddly poetic.

Well the last time we got a non e3 treehouse was right after a partner showcase to be fair : P
