I guess I shouldn't be surprised but there sure are a lot of Nintendo games in these top 5's haha.

I think mine in random order would be something like

1. Persona 4 Golden
2. 999 Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
3. Resident Evil 2 Remake
4. The Sims 2
5. Breath of the Wild

Honestly, I find top 5 lists like this so hard, I've played so many games that I think are fantastic that I'm probably forgetting some that would be contenders for my top 5 and others would be super close to making it but just get edged out based on how I'm feeling atm.

I also love RCT3 and remember playing it so much on my crappy old pc, but i love more the graphics and the aesthetic of 2 so much! the best about RCT3 was the expansions, the pools and the wild expansion! Love both so much! Is a shame the game never got a good sequel :c i hate RCT World!

I've legitimately never thought about my top 5 favorite games. I've only ever known what the top 2 are. Let's go with this:

5. Golden Sun: The Lost Age

Edit: Forgot about the "best per series" rule. In that case remove Ocarina and add Golden Sun: The Lost Age at 5.
 
Hard to choose top 5, but probably BOTW, Forbidden West, Mario Odyssey, Tropical Freeze, and KOTOR

Currently playing Metroid Dread while I wait for the Direct. Its good but its not near my top games. Ive barely played Metroid but I could see Super Metroid becoming a favorite once I play it through, possibly maybe one of the Prime games.

And for the next 3D Mario game I could easily see it becoming a favorite. I bet they are going to do something huge

Alright, I usually just lurk and just enjoy all you fine folks’ chittering and chattering about awesome games, but I feel inclined to share my own top five (even if it’s not very Nintendo centric).

5) Fallout 3 (6 play-throughs)
4) Fallout 4 (4 play-throughs)
3) Half-Life 2 (10+ play-throughs)
2) The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (6 play-throughs)
1) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (5 play-throughs, though never beat Gabon!)
 
Top 5 of all time:
  1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
  2. 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
  3. Metroid Prime
  4. Bloodborne
  5. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
If I could consolidate the entire Prime Trilogy in one entry, it'd be at #3 and Bayonetta 2 would be #5.

Last time I did a top games list was five years ago and my top five looked like:

1: Super Mario 64
2: Super Metroid
3: Final Fantasy VI
4: Chrono Trigger
5: Trails in the Sky

That might still be accurate. Have to sit down one day and think about it again. I’ve replayed a lot of my favorites since then and have new thoughts on them and there have been ton of awesome games new and old I’ve played since.

I actually helped beta test both expansion packs. I was one of the first people to post a water slide complex on the Atari Community Forums.
 
It's painful to make a top 5 and exclude so many amazing games, but it warms my heart to see them represented in other lists!

This is wild to me. Have you at least visited Hyrule castle? It's one of the most memorable areas in the game.

Edit: to clarify, not saying there is a wrong way to play/progress. That's what makes the game so special. Everyone's experience is different. Just curious how you decided on that approach.

It was not easy deciding the order of numbers 3 to 5. Some other day I’m sure I would put SMG2 in third, or Xeno 2 in front of Persona. Games 6 to 10 are probably in the right order though.

Not surprising half are Nintendo games, I’m the biggest Nintendo fan I know personally 😂

Bren McGuier have been miniaturized by The Machine and must now ally with the Pikmins in order to save the Galaxy. One problem : his gun now only works with Pikmins. The red ones provides the famous Spread Shot and renders Bren immune to heat, the blue one is the Laser and allows to… breath under water because it makes sense if you don’t think about it, and the yellow one is the Bounce.

The game will be a 2D pixel art Metroidvania done by NG-DevTeam with Chris Huelsbeck at the soundtrack.

Can't really do a "Top X" of my games either, can list them though:

  • The Legend of Zelda
    • Breath of the Wild
    • Ocarina of Time
    • Twilight Princess
  • Kingdom Hearts series in general, my favourite would have to be either 2FM or 3RM. Find it hard to choose because I love them all*
  • Halo, if I had to pick one probably Halo 2. Mind you, I never was a Halo multiplayer guy and even now with access to Halo MCC on Steam and Xbox I still am not, just prefer the campaigns
  • Super Mario, Mario Party and Mario Kart
    • Sunshine for mainline, Mario Party 5 for the party games and Double Dash!! for Mario Kart
  • Horizon series. Really love both of the games, but Forbidden West takes the cake for me. It's better than the first in every way, and currently stands as my GOTY for 2022. Will probably stay that way since BOTW2 got pushed to next year.
  • The Last of Us games. Couldn't get the second game out of my head for weeks after finishing it, and even though I got spoiled for some crucial moment in the game, I still was sad and depressed for weeks after that thinking about the game so Neil Druckmann did his job well.
  • Beyond Good and Evil: Absolutely LOVED the first game and was crying at the announcement of BG&E2, but that hype is pretty much dead now since it's in development hell and for some reason Ubisoft can't figure out how to make games anymore.
  • Persona 5 Royal: Holy shit I was not expecting to like this game that much, I'm really excited at the prospect of them making it to PC and maybe even Switch!
  • Dead by Daylight: a friend of mine who streams got me into this game because I watched her play it daily and thanks to her I genuinely had a DbD addiction for a solid few weeks. Then I got sick and I was FREED.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog:
    • I hope I didn't scare you by making you think I was talking about 06, since I never played it, but the ones I like the most:
    • Sonic Adventure 2, Heroes, Unleashed (yes also the Werehog levels), The Black Knight
  • ARK Survival Evolved. I like survival games, I like dinosaurs what can I say. Really excited for ARK II!
  • Source Engine games:
    • Half-Life series: Only finished 1, but have been playing on and off through 2. Can't wait to eventually get a VR Headset and try Alyx, here's hoping HL3 can actually happen someday!
    • Garry's Mod: Just good fun, mostly mess around on my own or with friends, don't usually go on public servers. They are... something.
    • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: I have almost 2,000 hours in this game, it's been the go to game for me and my friends for years upon years. Hitreg isn't much, tickrate could be better but it's been good fun (half and half lmao)
Also just wanted to say, I wanted to include Elden Ring in this but I just don't think it's that special. Granted, I got spoiled on a lot of things in the game about the open world and such, but I really don't think it's that special, at least it doesn't feel that way or I just can't see it.

I was really skeptical. I loved the 3D Zelda formula before that and didn’t care about open world games. I thought there was a good chance they’d take the series in a direction I didn’t like. I was actually pretty disappointed when they announced at the January 2017 event that Odyssey would come later. I was really skeptical of Zelda. Was tempted to wait and see on Switch and BotW, especially since I already had a Wii U. Glad I didn’t though. They had a high degree of difficulty and totally pulled it off. I’m not one of those people that plays games for hundreds of hours but I’ve clocked over 400 in this.

I straight up hated the game personally

i've never been a huge Zelda fan or anything but there were so many things about the game that upset me from the excessive amounts of boring climbing(oh god so much climbing) to the weapon durability to the lack of dungeons etc

I didn't really enjoy the game either, but I respect a lot of the things it tried to do. If the sequel focuses on long-form content like full dungeons and rich side quests, I think it could be a real winner.
 
Top 5 games ever? Ah, that's really hard to pick

the climbing in particular really rubbed me the wrong way and is probably what burned me out on it the most

I remember feeling like half the time I played it I spent climbing on stuff and it just felt so slow and then sometimes when it rained it just got even more annoying

it's a shame really since the world seems nice but so much of the actual process of playing it just felt so grating to me
