For everyone that's like "oh, what will leak next before the Direct?" the FE game was leaked for few months now, we've only got new details + a few screenshots from older build, this has nothing to do with Direct coming up.

I know I am in the minority when I say this but after playing Odyssey's 2D sections I just wanna play a EPD Tokyo 2D game where they go crazy with gameplay, themes, mechanics.

So if it is true that they are developing a Donkey Kong game please let it be 2D :(
Me too, actually. I know they are good games and have their fanbase, but NSMB games always seemed minor to me.

lol

Cannot wait for Mario to shake Altier’s hand after he assassinates bowser in MR2

I think the Mario movie trailer is a hard lock for this direct
I expect you're right, but I hope not. Ideally I'd like a new type of presentation for expanded media information and for directs to stay about games. I dread a future where I tune into a direct hoping for Switch 2 game announcements but then half the screen time is Netflix's Zelda series and Dark Horse's Metroid graphic novel.

especially since the screenshots are very clearly not related to promotion

Got bored, so I decided to see how much time there are between the first trailer and theatrical release for the past 3 Illumination releases.

Secret Life of Pets 2:
First Trailer: November 7, 2018
Release: May 24, 2019
Time: 198 days

Sing 2:

First Trailer: June 24, 2021
Release: December 22, 2021
Time: 181 days

Minions: The Rise of Gru:

First Trailer: February 5, 2020
First Release: July 3, 2020 (before it was moved due to COVID)
Time: 149 days

Next Trailer: March 30, 2022
Release: July 1, 2022
Time: 93 days

Averaging them out, we'd get 155~ days. If we exclude the second Minions trailer, we get an average of 176 days. Mario opens on April 7, 2023, which would mean November 3, 2022 or October 13, 2022 respectively assuming those trailer date averages hold true.

Illumination doesn't really seem to do any teasers either (apart from a Minions one that came 3 days before the first trailer), so I don't know how likely it is for them to do a full trailer when we're still 9-10 months out from release. I think a full trailer at the September Direct is more likely imo, with maybe a small teaser on the 29th but nothing is ever set in stone so this isn't gospel or anything.

Either way this was too much effort for something that isn't that important so ¯\(ツ)

Nintendo will probably cancel the Direct and just release a video of Furukawa looking disappointed.
Emotional status update: Shuntaro Furukawa

I mean, given how active this thread has become this month, there's likely lots of users who don't remember or know about the information that was posted all the way back in February.

Until Emily posted more details yesterday, we had some users thinking that only either Nate or Emily could be right about FE and that their information was contradictory. Plus, the closer we get to the Direct, the likelier leaks are to happen - even if this particular leak clearly isn't down to Direct preparation and is more down to the next FE being spoken about openly.

I have zero expectation of it happening today, so why I’m up early is unexplainable

lmao why is anyone expecting anything before the final week of the month?? like we already heard from reliable sources it's june 28/29

One year ago today, Nintendo held their E3 2021 Direct and Treehouse. That’s crazy to think about. It does NOT feel like a year

these 4chan fakes always forget that more than half of each direct is dedicated to third party games
And we have a lot of leaked/rumored/announced third parties they could throw in these too. So funny to me it’s always exclusively first party with these.

What do people think is the chance Torna gets added to the NSO expansion pack? It's currently on sale, but if there's a chance it comes to the expansion pack, I'd rather wait.

In 8 minutes Nintendo will tweet: The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild will be seen in a new trailer tomorrow! Come back at 6am PT to see the 2-minute long trailer.

Looking at that Bowser's Fury tweet reminds me that I really wish Nintendo would release it as a standalone game, because I want to play it badly, but there is no way I am buying Super Mario 3D World again just for that.

9 minutes until we get a video of Shigeru Miyamoto shaving Eiji Aonuma's hair off while Aonuma eats hot wings.
I'd watch that and leave a like.

I remember all the shit Aonuma got after Skyward Sword...
Personally speaking I seriously consider him the best producer Nintendo has right now. Their Zelda projects are always of high quality, the fan communication is great too with making ofs, interviews, concerts and lots more and he generally really conveys the feeling that the whole team cares about their games.

Also moments like in this GIF are just too good lol

Not only that, it always is the usual suspects for the first party games: Mario, Zelda, Pikmin and revivals of Starfox and F-zero. Nintendo has other franchises you know, a Dillon or a Culdcept game appearing on a Direct is much likelier than a F-zero revival.
