I'm sure Nintendo finished developing Tomodachi Life Switch in 2020, but since people are still buying New Horizons, we won't see it any time soon...... we Nintendo fans deserve nothing

Nintendo really likes finishing games and then sitting on them. It is pretty interesting that Fire Emblem ended up as one of them. That's a quick turnaround from 3 Houses, which had DLC. Ngl if the reason they sat on it was to make DLC that's just icky to me lol. But I guess it depends what it is.
Iirc Emily stated she won't be leaking stuff about hardware anymore.
I don't think anyone really should. It's just not worth it.

@Emily

Hey Emily, what is your personal opinion on the timing of the Direct, shareholder meeting and a possible Switch revision? Do you think it has something to do with upcoming Hardware releases?
I’m not Emily but I don’t think there is anything really relevant here considering this is just a bog standard shareholder meeting. If they were to talk about new hardware it would be closer to their earnings release.

Also when was the last time Nintendo used a Direct/event to announce hardware?

I saw a leak somewhere from back in Feb 2022 that said SEGA x Nintendo E3 2022 and Sonic Frontiers was on there as well as Odyssey 2 and Super Mario RPG 2, which have been rumored for years.

Gosh, I hope so. I loved Tomodachi on 3DS, one of my most beloved games of all time (especially considering how my IRL friends had it too and we had all sorts of inside jokes about it).

I’m with you here.

In Fire Emblem it's either a lizard or a sibling and in that case I prefer the lizard.

As long as they're like Rhea and not Nowi.
Rhea would be more popular anyway. I have seen some trends in certain communities.

12 just to copy what they would’ve done at E3?
Yeah, I'm leaning that it'll be a 6pm ET direct (that would be the standard direct time in this chunk of the year, right?), although I wonder if having Treehouse would force them to go at the normal E3 time even though this Direct is non-E3

I encourage everyone to read the notice the mods put right above where you type your comment. Please stop tagging Emily and NateDrake about every rumor question. They’ve already mentioned a lot of things the past week.

I mean in this one the lizard is your mom I don't think any shenanigans are happening there

I read back on the rumor when the person spilled the beans on Sonic Frontiers. Not too much there other than it’s Super Mario Odyssey 2, playable Luigi, 20 new locations

The Direct announcement itself will reveal 4 interesting tidbits that will generate even more speculation:

1) The length
2) When during the day the Direct will air
3) Any particular games or timeframe highlighted in the tweet
4) The existence or absence of Treehouse this year

Normally #2 and #4 would be a given for June, but since we're in non-E3 territory, it's gonna be a hotly anticipated tweet (which feels so ridiculous to type)

#4 is the biggest for me. I really want treehouse and deep dives into all the games. #3 is important to see if they highlight a BotW 2 or nothing.

Ok, so I was all certain that BoTW2 was going to make an appearance at the June Direct, but then something occurred to me.

It got a “delay reveal” in March. Why couldn’t they have just saved the new release date for the June Direct?

Remember, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was scheduled for a 2019 release prior to the E3 2019 Direct, and then the Direct gave a new, delayed release date: March 20, 2020.

It didn’t get a “delay reveal” trailer in March 2019 prior to E3, like BoTW2 did in 2022.

…which makes me fear that they revealed the delay in March so that they could go silent in June about the game, without widespread panic of “it’s coming out in 2022, why isn’t the game here?!”

Now they don’t have to show it in the coming Direct… they could save it for September.

———

Before you say, “why would that be a problem? Who cares if it’s in June versus September; we will see it eventually?”

…I would say you are a lot more patient and wise than I am. Because I REALLY want to see this game in the Direct on the 28th.

I think Treehouse is my most important by far. I NEED to see an extended Prime HD showcase. BOTW 2 I'm less sure of since they could always highlight a deep dive in a BOTW 2 direct, but Prime feels like a sure thing for Treehouse if they're doing one. I really hope I'm extremely impressed by the visuals.

If not BOTW 2, which game do you think is most likely to be specifically namedropped in the tweet? Bayonetta 3? Xenoblade 3? Splatoon 3? So many 3s lmao

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nate doesn’t either. If it actually is coming soon, we’d be hitting a point in time where MVG would likely know about the device, and he’d never risk his friends or contacts jobs

The animal crossing e3 delay announcement got horrible reception

I know I need to see the HD Metroid Prime being played! Splatoon 3 would be the only game I could see them highlight. But honestly I think it’ll be the generic “look forward to upcoming Switch titles” and no specific game being mentioned.

Honestly, I think it’ll be similar to E3 2019. We had some known games coming. They got 2-4 minutes. That direct announced BotW 2, but also had 2 Smash character reveals. Smash isn’t here this time. I think we get Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime Remaster and one other game from Nintendo announced.

Everybody 1-2 Switch I see being saved for any random day announcement and released maybe in a month from its announcement

My DREAM Direct:

Opener: The Legend of Zelda: WWHD/TPHD

Mid-Direct Announcements/Updates: Metroid Prime HD, Tomodachi Life 3, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Paper Mario TTYD HD

Closer: BoTW2 blowout trailer

One More Thing!: Super Mario Galaxy 3 reveal

…completely unrealistic, but hey, it’s a DREAM. Also, I tried not to include my dream franchises which had entries too recently on Switch (eg Kirby, Super Monkey Ball, etc.)

Oh look it’s someone who blocked me. What does it say?

Why on earth did Stealth block you? Dude seems like he wouldn’t step on any toes

Edit: also it’s Tactics Ogre: Reborn leaked in PS Store. He’s just speculating it could show up at the Direct

BotW 1 had a delay announcement before we even knew the name, and it got a huge showing during the following E3.

That could be the case, Nate said there was something he wanted to confirm before he talked about the succ, but if he was unable to and it's getting announced this month, he may not have the chance to do so. By the way, I doubt MVG will have access to any dev kit as of yet, I doubt they'd give one to Wayforward soon, but well, who knows? Maybe they already did and they can't talk about it anymore, but if that's the case, then at least we won't be in the dark for long.

If the new FE has apparently been "finished for over a year", and it was done by the same team as Three Houses + GUST, that means they either got it and the Three Houses DLC done in under 2 years or they sat on Three Houses for a while before launch despite delaying it twice. Both options would be very odd

Could be completely wrong here, but I feel like Nintendo doesn’t care what we think about things like this. They don’t care about making us mad with cancelling Smash tourneys and shutting down fan projects and taking down thousands of music tracks.

Honest question, not being sassy or trying to start a fight: why would they care in this scenario?

A few years back he tweeted Wind Waker HD was coming to Switch. He deleted it. I messaged him asking about it and he blocked me after that. Meh

If I can get

New Fire Emblem
New DK/Mario
Metroid Prime Remaster
Teaser Prime 4
BotW 2
Bayonetta 3 trailer and release 2022
Xenoblade 3 open world trailer
Splatoon 3 trailer

I’d be ecstatic and probably the best direct ever in this gen for me.

BotW 1 had a delay announcement before we even knew the name, and it got a huge showing during the following E3.
Yeah but it was the final E3 before Switch launch, and aside from 3DS stuff Nintendo didn't really have anything else to show.

I still hope though, and personally I'm sure it's going to be at the Direct, along with Zelda WWHD+TPHD

Opener: New Fire Emblem
Highlights: Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, quick Live A Live mention maybe, Mario Kart Booster Pass
Mid-show: Prime HD reveal in the Metroid Dread slot, possible Prime 4 teaser instead of "development is progressing smoothly"
Late-show: Bayonetta 3 locked in for 2022/January 2023 (Animal Crossing New Horizons slot, complete with possible delay)
2nd to last: Zelda (some combo of ports/BOTW 2/ports and BOTW 2, though this could easily end the show as well)
Closer: DK/Mario/a total surprise/Zelda segment is actually the closer which would also be more than fine

How many games have been completed since last year? New Fire Emblem and Metroid Prime Remaster. Goes to show you how long they’re willing to sit on games. I’ve felt since Covid Nintendo has games jammed up in their offices. There’s a backlog and they have to figure out how to release them.
Between one thing and another, new Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime HD, Everybody Switch the Stinky Horse, and Advance Wars are sitting around waiting on a release.
