Also I can’t understand how Sonic Team just doesn’t seem to understand how important performance is for Sonic.

I don’t care what you have to do. Every game needs to be a locked 60fps. I don’t care what visual sacrifices need to be made. Nothing else is more important.

Oh yeah, and in the end, I picked:

"Summer events in general"

Nintendo Directs are great and all, but so is all the hullabaloo surrounding video games in general during June.

I have really been wanting to replay Headlander lately, but I don’t own a PS4 anymore. Come to think of it, there are actually quite a few of Double Fine’s games I’d love to see ported to Switch - starting with Headlander, and then Day of the Tentacle.

Also now I feel bad for bringing up the Depp/Heard thing, apologies for that.

As for being a lazy bones, it’s also because a three day weekend is coming up and my mind is drifting away to lazy times ha

Aw man they’re shutting down Bomberman online??? Yeah I mean I didn’t play it but uhhh

Well

I mean I’m sad but also

Hmm. Like I wish it kept going but also it doesn’t impact me?

Hmmm

Am I the only one that doesn't care about the Depp/Heard thing?

I'm just too preoccupied by other things. Not even things that are "relevant to me" but things for fun as well. Life just seems too short, you know?

Anyone? I hate to sound like a bad person for not caring, but I... just don't.

Wait...

Did something happen with the Depp/Heard thing?

I haven't been checking and barely even know what's going on.

I avoid any Hollywood scandals like the plague.

If YouTube recommends a media scandal or something, especially a Hollywood scandal, I generally just avoid it.

Hi everyone---

Just heard from my sources deep within SEGA. Due to the middling fan reception of Sonic Frontiers, the game has been canceled. A new 3D Sonic is under development that "captures the personality of the series" and "contains more of the animal friends we all know and love." The assets were purchased by Nintendo and will serve as the foundation for the expansion pack for the sequel to Breath of the Wild. The level design will remain the same--Link will bounce around helplessly on all the bumpers for example.

I’m the same
I mean im sure whatever happened is bad but Im just not interested in reading about any of it.
I feel that way about a lot of news these last few years though

Why? The theme park comment?
I didn't know about that. The Irishman was trending because Netflix won't do stuff like that anymore and fans are pissed because "that's the only worthwhile thing on Netflix" and Stranger Things has terrible acting and scripts apparently. And they're always pissed at Marvel/Star Wars fans and think those movies are ruining cinema. It's pathetic.

Oh, BTW...

Do we have a schedule of upcoming June and July events for video gaming?

Like, news announcements?

Direct (digital) presentations?

Conferences?

Why can’t people just chill

I like Scorsese, Marvel and Stranger Things. If you don’t enjoy a certain thing, don’t stomp it in the ground.

Summer Gamefest, Xbox event, Sony event etc

I'll never get on someone for not liking something, but when you turn into snobs then I get annoyed. It feels like console wars but with movies.

I had no idea about this event.

I only use Twitter sparingly so I don't even often know what's "trending" or anything.

I'll say this: even though I don't really like Marvel movies, I don't really go around attacking people for liking 'em.

That's all I'll say (from what I can tell from this conversation on what recently happened or something).

If people need to be snobs, that’s their problem really. It’s annoying behaviour, but not worth your annoyance

Huge thank you to everyone who tuned into my grandfather’s stream. He had a blast and I hope you did too!

It’s a good thing I don’t use Twitter. Somehow the toxic parts of every fandom I’m in shout the loudest there.
Kinda feels like you need Twitter though these days, especially if you ever want to promote something.

Though doing so with like 20 followers isn't the most effective strategy.

I really liked the new Pokemon trailer. Lechonk needs protection at all cost.

The new Sonic trailer. yeaaaah not feeling it.

I didn't hate the Sonic trailer, but I definitely feel more optimistic about Pokemon.

Your post suggests that you read the staff post, but still thought it was important to post your take anyway. This is disrespectful to those who may have found the conversation triggering and wanted to move on. -Aurc, Donnie, hologram, paranoodle
Edit: I actually didn't see the staff post. Removed.

As someone actively working in the film industry, this is what I'll say: It's very disheartening to be "coming up" in an industry where, right now, basically only blockbusters or major studio films make money or garner an audience, and after that everything is on streaming. People in my industry are longing for the days where a mid-budget theatrical release could end up one of the most profitable/highest-grossing films of the year, because that would signal a message to financiers and the Big Six that those types of films are viable to produce and we would get more of them theatrically released. I can't remember the last time we had a Jerry Maguire in the 21st century, for example. It's why so many filmmakers and entertainment industry veterans are ecstatic that a film like Top Gun: Maverick made ridiculous money this weekend.

Belligerent fanboys are annoying for sure, but I actually agree with Scorsese's actual point, which is that the rise of content and the commodification of film has led to a ton of movies feeling more like fun, thrill-ride experiences than movies, and has contributed to the idea that producers should only heavily market and promote one kind of movie nowadays. Side note: Netflix calling "The Irishman" a vanity project instead of a passion project is unhinged when they'll spend $200m to make Red Notice.

For as many pretentious Scorsese fans as there are, you then have some Marvel fans who are demanding Marvel add artificial "theater reaction" screams, hoots, and hollers on each film's Blu-Ray release so you can feel like you're in the theater again, and that just makes his comment -- which has been misconstrued by film outlets time and time again -- feel even more prescient.

Signed,

Someone who has Goodfellas in his top 10, thinks Raging Bull has the best lead performance of all time, and thinks Infinity War is one of the most fun theater experiences he's ever had.

Oh shit, what? Not seeing it on my feed ugh, my heart breaks further with every single fucking one of these

Same boat. Don’t care for the MCU but if people like it, they can like what they like.

But many MCU fanboys also go on the offensive if you don’t care for it, so it goes both ways you know?

And many online reporters seem to purposefully hijack a conversation with a director and ask them about the MCU despite having zero relevance to the topic at hand. They know what they’re trying to do.

Fair enough.

I guess on the down-level of things? When it comes to fandom and fans themselves?

I don't provoke this stuff. If people want to enjoy the MCU (and I get what you're saying), I don't provoke them or go after them.

That's all. I get what you're saying, but I'll leave it at that for now.

That not enough, you need to workship then!

Nintendo is my religion.
90s Square is my religion.
Explains a lot about my perspective on religion.

Aonuma is my Christ

Who's the Holy Spirit, though...
Tezuka, obvi

As a film fan who has only ever dreamed of working in the industry, hear hear. 👏

Yeah, a console war but with people stanning movie stars.
A star war, if you will.

Oh neither do I. For example, Star Wars stopped being for me when Disney bought it. Tried to give it a shot, tapped out, still have my OT and PT and the old clone war cartoons on hand and my EU books, and called it a day. I avoid all discussion on it except with my wife lol
