Please Nintendo do a regular direct next month.

For the love of god don’t do that partner showcase bullshit. It was awful. 2020 was horrible, don’t remind us.
I go back and forth on these, but ultimately I think one of the greatest strengths of the modern Nintendo Direct is that they usually have something for everyone. Partner Showcases were actually pretty fun as an idea, but in practice most people walked away from each one disappointed. Consolidating news means that no one has their time wasted.

While I agree that it doesnt depend on Mercury Steam it does depend on Nintendo finding a partner they want to develop the game for because I don’t think Metroid is returning to Nintendo EPD, so if Mercury Steam can’t do a Metroid game and Nintendo doesn’t find anybody they like to make a game it won’t happen. Mercury Steam gives Metroid a ‘safe’ developer for future entries
my point.

Update on the Donkey Kong trademark situation from yesterday. More listings than were viewable yesterday now show up on the page, though they were all applied at the same time. Three of them even publicly show the name (though strangely not the ones viewable yesterday, class 20 and 21).

unknown.png

As pointed out here yesterday, like those Peach trademarks also registered a week prior, these could be in preparation for Strikers or maybe even the Mario movie rather than an upcoming game reveal. Classes 9, 28 and 41 are the main ones that need to be covered for use in video games, and those are the three Peach was registered for; but Donkey Kong has a lot more registered that go past games and into merch and other goods. It's pretty much the same classifications the Pokemon Gen 9 starters were registered for back in February, for example. To me it seems like the Donkey Kong name and brand will be seeing a lot more use worldwide in the near future (the majority of modern DK merch out there is still under the Super Mario name, remember), but you can't guarantee anything from this. Just gotta wait for the Direct next month, perhaps!

Why they will do a partner showcase? They need to announce games for the second half of 2022

What games would have to show up in this next direct to make this direct great for everyone?
Red dead redemption 2, GTA 6, Metroid prime 4, BOTW 2, Bioshock 5, Golden Sun Revival, Bayonetta 3, Mario and Rabbids 2, New FE, Xeno 3, Advance Wars, FZERO S, Star Fox: The gritty Reboot. That secret Retro Studios game that is in development. Mario Strikers, Raven Blade, Elden Ring, Level 5 hostile acquisition, Fantasian, Mario and Luigi 6, Bully 2, Mass Effect 4, Banjo Three, Halo MCC, Perfect Dark, Astral Chain 2, Mario Sluggers, Mario Spikers, Luigi's Mansion 4, Sexual Ice Climbers reboot with adult characters, Mad World 2, Alien Isolation sequel, Imperfect Darkness, Paper Mario The Super Century Year DOOR, Pikmin 4, Mario Kart 10, Murasame Castle the sequel, Super Princess Peach, Borderlands 3, ET The Game remastered, Metroid Prime 1 Remaster, Metroid 6, Metroid fusion and zero mission port.

Y know, the basics.

Let's be real, how much we individually enjoy each direct hinges on one or two announcements. There could be a ton of great announcements during a Direct but if the game you're looking forward to is a no show, you get disappointed. I was that way with September 2021's Direct. It was pretty good. A lot of people were excited about Kirby and Bayonetta. But I was hoping for Xenoblade 3, given all the rumors, it was disappointing that it didn't get unveiled. But on the flip slide, the 2022 Direct did have Xenoblade 3 and I came away very satisfied.

No PG acquistion? Fake Nintendo fan 0/10

lol yeah, this was me with the February Direct. Obviously a great Direct overall, but I was honestly really dissappointed initially that mainline FE was a no show. It was made even worse thanks to the plot twist: revealing a FE spinoff instead lol.

3D Mario/2D Mario/Donkey Kong/Pikmin 4/F-zero

if any of these appear in the next direct then unanimously it will be a great one

Given nintendo has only one game dated past July right now, they literally need to have a normal direct, it's basically guaranteed

We don't need negativity in this Thread..... just joking... I'm slowly loosing the hope.
Lmao, I feel. I'm a pretty positive Nintendo fan in general but if there's one thing I tend not to expect from them, it's direct presentations, cause for every five times they'll do something consistent, they'll throw us a weird curveball with the timing or, sometimes, go radio silent.

That said, I really only have June 2020 to go off of (when there was no e3 and June passed without them saying anything) and circumstances were different then. But, not having a confirmed e3 where we'd know about their involvement by now is why I have trouble expecting a June presentation, cause, like I said, I tend not to expect things from them when it comes to direct timing.

That said I'm hopeful there will be one!

It’s happening. Big DK game for the holiday

In other news, I had a dream last night where Nintendo had a June direct and announced a Splatoon rhythm/music game. It was pretty dope ngl

HMMMMMMMMM

Yeah I know this is probably because of the movie and theme park land but I'm gonna HMMMMMMMM anyways.

I'm not really expecting an August game this year unless that is where they slot in Advance Wars. Xenoblade 3 is at the very end of July and Splatoon is the beginning of September. So a little bit more than a month apart. If Nintendo were to have a Direct in June, that would only give them two months or less before a potential August game is released. It's possible but seems more unlikely to me.

Maybe Everybody 1-2 Horse Stinks is August...maybe.

Hmmm... Kirby DLC, new DK, new Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime Remake... And of course lots and lots of people will call the Direct a failure if BOTW2 doesn't have a meaningful showing. But DK, FE and Metroid would be more than enough for me.

It’ll be Mario + Rabbids from Ubisoft most likely and don’t discount any new eShop games or the 1-2 switch sequel like you mentioned

And not just that, either. New game will fully bring back the "Donkey Kong Universe" that Rare started in the 90s and its characters.

Smash was just showing what was to come with K. Rool and, later, Banjo's triumphant returns.

Let's goooooooo~!

I guess it could be Mario + Rabbids. It just seems weird that Nintendo would hard two games for the neighboring months but not anything in between if it was something significant.

I’m 50/50 on BotW 2 showing up. So if it doesn’t show up it won’t bother me at all. I’m looking at a DK game, new Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime Remaster + 4, Pikmin4, an old IP coming back, dlc for Mario Party Superstars to make a great direct for me (combination of some of these)

Even if we get a new DK game, and it's revealed in the June Direct, that doesn't neccessarily mean it's a 2022 game. Could just as easily be a Spring 2023 game for example.

IIRC they did this in 2017. Splatoon 2 in July. Mario + Rabbids in August and Pokken Tournament in September

As far as Ninty 1st party is concerned...MonkEPD, plenty of Metroid Priming, and Star Fox coming back in grand fashion.

At least one of those would make my day. Two would make my year. All three would send me over the moon, and make my millennium.

The Nintendo Switch has given me everything I want and more. From this Direct, I just want a 2 to 3 minute trailer from BOTW2. Anything else is a cherry om top
