Expect a Nintendo Direct followed by Treehouse on the 25th, yep, not the second week of June, not even on a Tuesday. Nintendo won't be joining Geoff's show for a third time so I guess to get a show out in a quieter month they’ve decided to do their Summer Direct in May, here’s the notable stuff:

- Metroid Prime, yep, it’s finally happening, and it’s just the first game, but it looks like everything’s been redone, out October 16th

- Splatoon 3, missed this part, I don’t think anything crazy happened, although I know for a fact there were no new amiibo announced, out September 9th

- Xenoblade 3, just a reminder, nothing crazy revealed, out July 29th

- Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, same as the last, out June 24th

- Mario Strikers Battle League, as many expected, post-launch support will be coming, Daisy and a desert-like arena will be coming in July, with King Boo coming August, the game’s out June 10th

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 2, the second wave is revealed containing the following tracks:
  • Tour Amsterdam Drift
  • SNES Vanilla Lake 2
  • N64 Kalimari Desert
  • DS Waluigi Pinball
  • Tour Los Angeles Laps
  • GBA Bowser Castle 2
  • Wii Mushroom Gorge
  • GCN Dino Dino Jungle
The wave will be released June 3rd, with a promise that more content aside from just courses will be coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe later in the year

- Ace Attorney 2nd Trilogy, a collection of Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice, set to release August 26th

- Athena Cykes Ace Attorney, the seventh mainline entry in the series, featuring 8 cases, mainly starring Athena Cykes, with Phoenix taking control for a few cases as well, set to release Holiday 2022

- Bayonetta 3, new trailer, introducing a new cast of characters, as well as an older Jeanne? A lot of unanswered questions, out October 2022

- Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, new playable characters are shown, including Rabbid and normal Rosalina, Rabbid Wario, and Shrew, out Holiday 2022

- Kirby Masterpiece Collection, despite the recent release of Forgotten Land, there’s still more Kirby planned for the 30th anniversary, mainly, a collection of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land, Kirby Triple Deluxe, and Kirby Planet Robobot, remastered with graphics comparable to Kirby Fighters 2. A boss rush containing every boss from all 3 games is also mentioned, out September 30th

- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, they only briefly mention this one, I guess there should be a trailer out beforehand, out November 18th

- 1, 2, Everybody Switch, weird announcement, just seems to be more of the same with some games that require multiple switches, out August 19th

- The Legend of Zelda: End of the Wild, HUGE trailer, a far more lively Ganondorf is teased, we see more of the skies, a few shots of sprawling caverns, and are told that the title refers to the end of the curse started with Demise, out March 10th, 2023

- Metroid Prime Inducement, I recall this being the final announcement, very brief snippet of in-game footage, out 2023

- Also Advance Wars is slated to appear in the Treehouse Live, with a 2022 release

Much appreciated 🙏 oof though at that content, those names are trash lmao, and not even trying to make up some new potential games that aren't rumoured?

Shame it's not real though; the course selection for Mario Kart Booster Pack, even without the promise of additional characters/karts, are mighty fine choices.

I hate the way people write these fake Directs lol It's always a weird mix of "dont ask me I didn't even pay attention" and straight up PR marketing writing

No mention of Wind Waker/Twilight Princess (which might be what I care about the most) so it's probably real...

Barring any huge unexpected releases from Nintendo, the minute Metroid Prime HD is announced, it becomes my most anticipated game for 2022. I binged all of the 2D Metroid games before Dread, and it quickly became one of my favorite franchises. Then Dread ended up being my favorite game in the entire series. I've never touched a Prime game, I need it ASAP
I envy you. Being able to experience MP1 for the first time is one of the best experiences in gaming. I wish I could erase my memory and play it again for the first time.

When I read 1, 2, Everybody Switch I though "you know what, this is actually a good fake name for this dumb product and I wouldn't be surprised if it was real." And then I read "End of the Wild" and "Induced" and I felt like this fake list let me down by obviously being fake.....

Everybody Switch is the name that's been floating around here for months, largely because of what Emily told us.

So whoever did this leak has clearly either read this stuff on here, or has watched YouTubers who talk about and pick up on the rumours. The actual list of things isn't unreasonable for a middle of the road Direct, and it's all stuff that's plausible (Kirby collection, next set of Kart DLC) or rumours that started here (Prime HD, new Fire Emblem, Everybody Switch).

The actual Direct might not be that different from this, even if the fake names for games are completely stupid.

It's really easy to tell fake directs from real ones because fake directs will always lean into ports/sequels/known quantities way more than new, unknown stuff. Like, a fake leak would say things like "Splatoon 3 trailer" and "BOTW2 Name reveal" and "Metroid Prime Remake" and "1, 2 Everybody Switch." But those kinda things are like, HALF of what's in a usual Direct. The other half is stuff like these from the February Direct: "Free to Play Disney Kart Racer" or "HD 2D Live A Live, which is out in July" which are two things no one would have guessed, especially the latter since they previously announced HD 2D Dragon Quest 3 which doesn't even have a release date yet.

Basically what I'm saying is: fake leaks are way more flat than a genuine Direct would be.

A real Direct leak will be as confusing as it is exciting.

Somehow the thing that feels the most fake about this is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe getting more than just courses lmao

I also got a good chuckle out of them calling the hypothetical Kirby collection "Masterpiece Collection" (that's just... not what a real company would call it) and the given lore reason for Zelda's title. The whole Demise thing hasn't ever been brought up by Nintendo outside of Skyward Sword itself; I really doubt they'd use it as a plot point in the upcoming game, let alone talk about it in the trailer.

Unfortunately, nothing will ever top Yoshi's Flipping Island.

Oh, also: anyone guessing the Zelda title will end in "of the Wild" or begin with "Breath of the" is likely wrong imo. Many of the direct sequels we've gotten have not followed language patterns:

-Ocarina of Time > Majora's Mask
-The Wind Waker > Phantom Hourglass > Spirit Tracks
-Four Swords > Four Swords Adventures

Even Zelda II, which didn't have a subtitle to riff off of, dropped "The Legend of" from the title entirely. The only Zelda games to play into this were the Oracle games, which were simultaneously released counterparts, and A Link Between Worlds, which was a bit different as a random sequel 22 years later (that was also a quasi-remake/reimagining). That one also was a simple "2" in Japan, which I believe we have confirmation the upcoming sequel isn't.

Should maybe do a thread on the fanciness of Zelda titles. It's really hard to fake because they're mostly very specific and tasteful. Skyward Sword is the only mainline Zelda which title's a little tacky. The rest is chefs_kiss.

tbh I think we should have a thread where we have to try to guess the title on the sequel to BOTW, where everybody gets a single guess, everyone's guess has to be unique, and if someone manages to get it, they get a unique badge for their profile haha

That'd be golden! xD

The Legend of Zelda: King, Queen, and Knight.

Ganondorf is the King of Evil, Zelda is now the Queen of Hyrule, Link is the Appointed Knight.

Yeah. Breath of the Wild as a title just rolls so great off the tongue.

is it too late for a pokemon direct now?
Yeah not happening this week. Presents are also typically announced earlier than standard Directs iirc, so I suppose we might still get an announcement this week of one next week

i was gonna say is it too late if they don't want it to be too close to the june direct, but yeah i forgot TPC does their own thing and doesn't care what nintendo is doing.
To be fair TPC does it with Nintendo , they make it fit so there is no overlap
