Metal Gear was a money sink for Konami so they dropped it once Kojima left due to Konami not wanting to him all the freedom (especially budget wise) he wanted, Konami wanted to move away from AAA games and focus on the JP industry and mobile games which were a lot more profitable and safe investments for Konami.

Konami has been "bad" for almost a decade. Corporate mismanagement, letting key personnel go, and going all in on location-based gambling/amusement (aka pachislot) directly before a pandemic has them scrambling to do anything. I think there's a path to a Konami renaissance but I couldn't tell you what it is.

Pachinko has been the worst performing division of Konami for 10+ years, their biggest money maker has always been their gaming division especially mobile games, they just changed the focus of the division from AAA games to mobile games /JP market focused games.

Not that misleading news headlines are anything new in 2022, but I’m really starting to get annoyed with how much that VGC article about Nintendo being “concerned” with releasing a successor to Switch based on a mistranslation is getting paraded around social media and fueling uninformed hot takes.

News media really should be held more accountable somehow for this type of thing, though I’m not really sure what the solution is.

But like, the entire Metal Gear series other than 5 has been left to rot on the PS3/360 gen. Went the entire last gen without ports, let alone this gen!

It’s not even expensive new games, just outsourcing some port studio to bring them across and sell a few million copies.

Outlets/YT channels rather get the outrage hits today and then double-dip on an accurate report in the coming weeks.
 
The good old tactic of Defense order and Scout still works in Valkyria Chronicles 4 lol

I’m sure it’ll stop in a bit in 4 unlike VC1 where it worked 95% of the time since the Protagonist was a scout and had a bit more stats compared to original scouts lol. Still. Taking all that gun shot to the face to clear maps in 1-2 turns is amazing.

Lol the balance in 1 was so goddamn bad.

I platinumed the game and 99% of it was done with that one main girl soloing the map.

Still a great game.

I’m a terrible audiophile because literally nothing in my apartment plays CDs anymore and the literal tow truck mafia of Toronto got my semi-illegal car right when COVID hit

People think the tank map is the hardest in the game when it’s actually the map where Alicia is injured and limps throughout the chapter lol

The worst thing about the balance is the ranking system where it’s all about how fast you are rather then how tactical lol. Hence Alicia running and taking bullets to the face for 99% of the time

Still. Great game lol

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time, buddy. I know it was rough for my chronically ill partner and I even just driving 6 hours to do our transnational move. I hope things get a bit better for you.

I think people spend way too much time trying to analyze the all the words of a Japanese business that have been filtered through Twitter, often by people who suck at translating Japanese.

I need to know why people want a 1080p screen for portable mode. I think the screen size isn’t really big enough for 1080p to be a huge upgrade over 720p.

People want bigger numbers. Reminds me of how big megapixel numbers on the phone cameras were getting when people only viewed them on tiny screens.

It is!
It’s kinda short and the combat isn’t super complicated and in depth like other Platinum games but it’s more than the sum of its parts due to how goddamn hype it is.

I have a ton of CDs and my collection still grows as I continue to buy lots of them.

Mostly video game music. But any music albums I like. I end up buying it too for my car which is too old to know what an iPod even is.

Playing Islanders is really weird and transportative in good and bad ways. Good, because it's a super relaxing game; bad, because I played it really intensely last August and so I'm transported back into memories of home at that particular point in time.

Capcom did say they are releasing "multiple major titles" by next year so maybe its in there.

There's still a lot of that in 4, although it's not as bad. Scouts are somehow both better and worse for a lot of reasons. Especially once you unlock the ability to have a leader unit that's a scout, and can use them to 'buddy up' with another unit and drag them across the map at warp speed, lol.

I played about 10 hours of Valkyria Chronicles 4. I need to get back to it one day. I think Astral Chain coming out derailed my playthrough. I also still need to pick up the first game.
